Hi, Rather new to blue light.. But anyways.. I was addicted to Opiates for a good 6 months.. Took 2 trys to quit.. Just going on a week of being Opiate free.

Questions are is it possible to wait a few weeks or months and use them say limit myself to once or twice a week as I know the effects of addiction.

Also tolerance. I used everyday for 6-8 months taking up to 500-700mgs a day and up to 3000mcg's of fentayl thingys that disolve in your mouth.. I enjoyed playing call fo duty and letting them fizz in my mouth and nod out. Haha.

Also anyone whom needs advice or help for quiting. I did cold turkey 500mgs a day to ZERO.. Gf helped i flailed around in my bed for 3 days feeling like death.. took a drive and now after 6 days im fine and just kinda miss it.. I just don't want it running my life.

Thanks in advance!:):):)

Dude with someone who went up to 500-700mg's of oxy a day, I do not think it is possible for you to be able to use recreationally again without becoming addicted.

That's a pretty big dose to be doing cold turkey as well. I did cold turkey at like 250 a day and that was hell. Shit and that seems like a lot of fucking fentaly as well. 3000mcg's a day? Whats the max those patches come in, like 150mcg? That's some hell of a tolerance.

Welcome to Bluelight btw :)

Yeah, It's like part of me feels like I could use responsibly and then the other part progressed so fast from 1 oc 40 fuckin me up real good to having to take 5 t0 even feel it.. Then constantly needing more to achive the same effect.. I tapered down a little then quit cold turkey cause quiting ct on 750mg's a day I went INSANE.. Like on the floor of my bedroom looking for a little piece of a pill and snorting lines of lint and random pill debris.

How long does tolerance take to be reduced I quit because it ran my life and it was just stupid how much i needed to get high..

Please do yourself(and your loved ones) a HUGE favor and stay away from opiates. You should know now that its not worth it, otherwise you wouldn't have quit cold turkey......so the risk of "occasional" recreational use is pretty much a guarantee for relapse. This is coming from experience so please listen.....try to get high off of being a good person(I know that sounds corny).
Nothing can guarantee you that you wont relapse and statistics show that if you start meddling around again with your old DOC, you more than likely WILL relapse and the pain and damage that can go along with that is just too much to even think about. So please try hard to stay clean.

Quitting is so hard, and you're still brand new to it with just a week clean...please don't try to use recreationally, especially not yet, you'll slide right back down the hill...

I reccomend suboxone if the cravings are just too strong for you to resist.....it's a lifesaver.

I was addicted to pills (a nothing addiction compared to yours) for like 3 years, would take about 5 Percocet 7.5s per day, just a nice little shine going all day for 3 years.

I quit probably 4 years ago, and have had access here and there (i had been stealing them from my mom and ended up telling her, then kicking myself). I no longer live at home and i'll go 5-6 months without fiending too much, maybe if i'm hungover or really tired or whatever my mind will start to wander. Like clockwork though i'll have a dope dream about pills like once every 6 months and i'll straight fiend for a week.

Retarded i know, wee little habit, 5 percs a day...

Now because i don't live at home i really don't have any way of getting them, i'm not gonna call old non-drug using acquaintances and ask them if they've had a back injury, or go rob a pharmacy or...hell i don't even know how i'd get them (luckily).

To me, that right there would be effectively ruining my life...fiending so bad that i randomly start calling people i haven't spoken to in years to ask for a hook up. Everyone i know would label me a crackhead and they'd still smile and say hi but really they'd have such a different opinion of me. Even if not, suddenly my WHOLE LIFE is revolving around keeping up a piddly little drug habit that i was fine before, and can be fine again after.

Now think of your situation. You were using HOW MUCH OXY? I don't want to know what you had to do to get that much, but know this: whatever it was, it's not sustainable. How long could you keep that up before you'd have to start pawning/stealing your way to get a 'wellness dose' just so you wouldn't puke and shit all over yourself and feel like someone cracked every bone in your body and is slurping the marrow out with a silly straw?

Seriously, try to map it out in your head: 6 Oxy 80s per day give or take...what amount of cash would you need to keep that up, now you burn through that, what's next the flat screen? Then? And then? Now map out the social cost, you're probably not working if you're railing a mini-mountain of Oxy a day, eventually your girl will probably leave you, once you borrow from everyone you know you'll alienate those people and they probably won't want anything to do with you. The list goes on...

And eventually you use up every available bit of capital there is, and you're certain you won't fix for days/weeks/a month and so you're left with a nothing but a Superhuman tolerance for Oxy, no job, friends, or family to really speak of, and a quickly fading memory of what being high on Oxy was like for 1, 2, 3, 9 months. That's what you have left, a Superhuman tolerance for Oxy, and some foggy memories.

Maybe that sounds a little hardcore but can it be that far off?

Thanks for your help.. It's something I enjoy but I do fear loosing control again..

Tolerance though, I'm a firefighter if I were to get hurt and have this tolerance does it go down immediately after detox or slowly and will take years to get back to were it should be?

This is kind of like Pandoras Box, once you open it there is no going back. You have already been there, and it is very unlikely that you can just visit when you want. You may think you can, and you may do it for a while, but as long as you play this game you will slowly creep back to where you dont want to be. It's not really an all or nothing experience, its more like a mind fuck. Your best bet would be to never look back.. But there is the problem, you still want to get high. So, in theory, you will most likely get high again. You may have suspended your use, but you have not truly quit yet.

Anyways, your tolerance will also be a ghost of your past. If you take a few months off your tolerance will semi reset. Meaning, next time you get high it will take less, but if you get high a week later it will take more, and more and more. And quickly you will be back at a high dose, or even higher.

After a few days of being clean your tolerance should go down quite noticeably....my best guess would be that you would have about 30%-50% the tolerance you had a week after you quit. Then as time goes on, your tolerance will drop lower and lower.....I would say by a month of being clean, you should be back to where you were before your addiction.

I would not recommend getting back into it if you really don't want to get addicted again. I have a very good friend who I watched fall into the trap of Oxy and eventually he pulled himself out. He thought he could use occassionally and it be fine, now he is straight back where he was six months ago..... If you want to stay off the junk for good then turn your back and run as far and as fast as you possibly can. It's a sad lonely path and you very rarely hear of people getting off the junk completely and making their lives work without using something else to suplement it.

In my experience tolerance does drop significantly after a few weeks clean, but it might not go back down to zero unless you have some serious clean time, months or years. Of course, once you go back to using your tolerance will return with a vengeance. For the record, I quit a 2 year long poppy tea addiction for very nearly 2 months. When I returned, I used for 3 days and used significantly smaller doses than I had in active addiction. I wasn't using the tiy doses that I started out with though, so not even 50 days of clean time was enough to reduce my tolerance much more than maybe 50% of what it was.

It's almost impossible to control your usage after you were addicted, especially after those heroic doses.

if you get injured and the doc knows you had a problem with opiates in the past they will not perscribe you opiates again, and if you were able to obtain them your tolerance would still not be as low as it once was.

i would wait a long time before using recreationally again. as time goes on that desire to use oc will lessen believe me. this is part of the recovery phase, as soon as the physical withdrawal symptoms are gone you naturally want to use again.

theres no need to put yourself through that hell ever again.

Do you believe this is the case with Suboxone also? (without something else to suplement it)?

Thanks

If I was taken off the opiates and put on suboxone would that same doctor EVER put me back on the opiates? If so, for what reason? Thanks.

and a very strong want to quit.. I'm fine now though. Id like to just have one more or something almost just to see.. but I'm afraid after getting addicted once and not waiting enough time it'll put me at sqaure one.

WANTING to do it is your addiction calling you man! Find something else to occupy your time.

listen, i used for 2 years before getting addicted and when i did my habit was aout half yours, and i couldnt go back to how i was,,,, considering the short duration and intensity of your addiciton consider it impossible
