Long story short, been a chronic pain patient for a few months. I'm on 2x 10mg Percocet 3x daily along with 100mg Tramadol and Lyrica. My doctor decided to add Dilauded today (4mg as needed) into the mix, because my tolerance has grown and honestly those doses above do next to nothing for me (both recreationally and very little for pain relief) yet my doctor is refusing to up my dosages to anything I could actually feel.
Very aggravating because I'm in pain and getting little relief, but alas, he seems to think he knows my body better than I do. I'm not gonna lie, when he told me he was going to write a script for hydromorphone, I was kind of excited inside. Thought this could be a fun way to get some relief finally.
Well, obviously I searched BL and found the BA for hydromorphone is pretty ridiculously low with the exception of IV (which I won't be doing). I popped one after my usual dosages and felt absolutely nothing. What a joke. What I don't understand is, why would any pain doctor prescribe Dilauded orally when they have to know it doesn't really work orally? That doesn't make any sense. Now if I take this religiously as I'm supposed to, I'm going to get dependent on diluaded also, although it doesn't do anything for me, and then end up w/ding from 4 medications instead of just increasing my damn Oxy dose.
Seriously, to me this sounds totally illogical.
Anyway, I did try snorting the hydromorphone and it defintely works a bit better, although it still is unimpressive. I did about 8mg and I just felt very heavy, with next to no euphoria and only a bit more pain relief than I normally get. So I'm kind of at a loss here, I know hydromorphone is supposed to be extremely powerful, but only IV (and as a matter of principle, I'm just not going to IV a pill), yet my Dr. was acting like he was giving me the most powerful drug known to man and told me I have to be extremely careful taking this because of how strong it is. -_-
Any ideas? I have some potent stuff at my disposal it seems silly I can't swing this to my advantage.
Thanks guys.
