I just IV'd MS Contin, done it a few times over the last couple days, and everything went perfect, but this time, which was my 2nd time for today, did it early this afternoon around 1ish, and i just did it now, about 10min ago, and it seemed to work fine, i hit the vein on my left arm on the first try, and I injected way slower then usual cause I was told that injecting morphine slowly will help lessen the histamine release effect, but for some reason, the histamine release this time was way more intense then its ever been, like usually i just feel it in my head and my arms, but this time i felt it all over my body, usually i dont mind it, but this time it was not comfortable at all, and now my hand, on the arm that i injected in, is like throbbing, and the skin on it feels really tight, i've never experience this before, and on my arm, next to the vein i used, a couple of the blood vessels are like raised up and i can see them and feel them through my skin. What does this mean, is it just a reaction to the histamine release, like maybe IV'd a lil too much, i only did 3 60mg MS Contins today, 2 of them around 1pm, and then just one a few min ago like i said, and I'm pretty sure, with the way you have to prep these things, you dont get exactly every bit of the 60mg in it, and plus this time i actually got the liquid to fill up all the way to the 100 mark on my 1cc syringe, when usually it only goes up to about 80 or 90, so i pushed some of it out til it was between 80 and 90 mark, cause that way it gives me more room to pull back on the plunger once i get it into my vein. Just a personal preference i guess. But anyways, this kinda worried me, so i wanted to see what you guys thought. I've only started IV using the weekend before last, before then, i never have used IV drugs except at the hospital when they would hook me up to IV. So do you guys just think that its the histamine release that is making my arm and hand feel/look wierd, or is something wrong ?
EDIT - its slowly subsiding, skin still feels a lil tight on my hand, but i can barely see or feel that one blood vessel anymore, so just figured i would give an update. Hopefully someone can answer me soon about what this was all about, cause it scared me a bit lol at first i thought maybe my vein collapsed, but I'm pretty sure thats not the case, cause theres no pain or bruising or any of the other signs i've read about to indicate that, so I'm hoping it was just a reaction to the histamine release. That shit was way too intense this time. Usually i like it, but not this time, i actually had to get up and walk around, my feet, hands, back, were itching/tingling, and i got way hotter and red then usual lol lobster status!
