aka Ativan or Temesta. this is my first time getting a benzo and havent tried it yet. Now im not going to try to abuse it but i would consider taking more than is directed for it to work. Since I'm only taking it on an as-needed basis that shouldnt be that bad.

So what are your suggestions for a starting point? Keep in mind i got high off 5mg of hydrocodone and now take 10mg and i feel perfect. So im a lightweight.

Also keep in mind that I dont plan on eating anything so it will be on an empty stomach.

thanks

Have you ever taken any benzos before?

If not, I'd suggest taking 1 mg lorazepam with 10 mg hydrocodone and you should be golden.

im not trying to take it to get high. I just want my anxiety gone. How much should do that for me? I wouldnt mind feeling nice as well. Would .5 mg do that for me? never taken any benzo before and thats most likely the recommended dose

I take 4x 1mg doses throughout the day to help with my anxiety. Certainly helps without me feeling too drowsy. What has your doctor suggested? I recommend you try that to begin with.

in all honesty benzos are not worth the negative side effects and eventual addiction if you use them for a long time.

if you must, just take .5mg and see how that works for you, if not 1mg is the standard dose for anxiety.

Yeah...take .5mg

You probably won't feel much of anything other than your anxiety fading.
If you take too much you will get very sleepy though.

yea sub lingual best for benzos...imo ativan works better than bars for acute panic attacks

really? that seems weird to put a pill and let it dissolve under your tongue. Never heard of that. How much better is it than just swallowing it?

and how quick would it dissolve?

Ativan works very well dissolved under the tongue, and it should take less than 10 minutes. More likely less than 5 minutes.

Also, starting with what your doctor prescribed you (dose, dosing schedule, etc) is the right thing to do. Ativan is sort of an under-rated benzo if you ask me, 0.5mg is good for underlying anxiety, I'm prescribed it for the that same reason. It's a miracle drug if you ask me.

Just make sure you use it responsibly. Lorazepam is one of the more addictive benzos.

ativan (lorazepam) dissolves very quickly. Around a minute tops, that might even be a bit high you'll be surprised by how fast it dissolves. It really doesn't taste bad like xanax or valium either. I have anxiety too and that's what I do. I use lorazepam most often times. It kicks in faster than swallowing it because the drug absorbs right into your mouth, rather than having to wait for it to go down your digestive track.
.5 mg under the tongue to help with anxiety, if not enough or you are having a panic attack try using 1mg. I wouldn't recommend going over 2 mg because that will make you very sleepy, esp if you've never had any benzos before. They probably prescribed you .5 as needed right? That's actually a good place to start.

1 mg of lorazepam for a beginner will not get you high, but it might make you feel nice and relaxed. 1 mg lorazepam is the therapeutic dose (the starting dose). 0.5 mg won't do much at all.

yeah .5mg as needed. Im unsure what to do though. some say .5 doesnt work and some say .5 was more than enough from what ive read around

When i got prescribed it , i started of with .5mg worked good for like 3 months now i am on 1mg.... Works even better.... Try a .5mg if it doesn't cut it do another one... and you should be good to go

im scared to only go with .5 mg cuz i have a presentation and i dont want to take too little and realize it when im up there

It would be much worse to take too much and not be able to stay awake or function.

0.5 should be enough to keep you from panicking in my experience.

I think most general practitioners don't have a heckuva lot of experience in the field of drugs. The reason I say this is cuz my wife went to a general practitioner for anxiety and her doctor told her that he wasn't gonna prescribe her Valium because it is too addictive and too easy to get hooked on it....so he went ahead and prescribed her Xanax instead!

LOL, ya Valium is a problem but Xanax is A-OK. 8)
