OK so I've been seeing a pain management doctor and have been switching meds every two weeks because i can't find a good long acting drug. He started me on 10/325 percocet for breakthrough and MSContin 15mg for long acting pain relief. That didn't work so he switched me over to 10mg oxyIR for breakthrough because the tylenol was giving me headaches and for long acting switched me to Oxycontin 10mg(OP). The 10mg OP didn't work so now he has switched me over to 25mcg fentanyl patch and still on 10mg oxyIR for breakthrough.
I get 120 oxyIR/month for breakthrough and 10 - 25mcg fentanyl patches/month for long acting. The fentanyl patch is working great. First time I've ever tried fentanyl patches, let alone fentanyl. I used to be an Oxycontin/opiate addict a few years back so i'm pretty well versed on how opiates work and have tried pretty much all opiates except fentanyl. They generic brand that i get is "ACTAVIS" and they have gel inside the patches. The edges of the patch started to peal off a bit so i used regular band aids to keep it from coming off, the pharmacist that i shouldn't use them, why is that?
