Joint Rolling - European vs. American Methods

^ I see that makes a lot more sense.

In the states especially where I live (Seattle) good weed is everywhere so we don't really have an equivalent to soapbar. I'm pretty sure anybody here who were found out that they were selling weed with little pieces of glass in it would probably get shot/beat the fuck up.

As to why we lack a soapbar equivalent I haven't the slightest clue. There are just as much idiots over here as there are in England or Europe I'm sure. (probably more now that I think about it):) The worst we have is Mexican dirt weed. Other than that I can't think of anything that resembles soapbar.

Used to smoke all spliffs; broke college kid budget and a plethora of bricked out mexi-weed in chicago made spliffs a good option.
I've since quit tobacco use so just roll plain joints.

If I remember or have the time I put a crutch in the end (just a bit of cardboard from the pack of skins) but sometimes I just do herb all the way down.

I end up rolling them pretty straight; not too fat; I wish I could roll a nice cone shaped jay but over all i'm happy with just a plain and straight 100% herb joint

I'm from the UK, and can honestly say I haven't seen soapbar in the past three years. Everybody I know smokes bud, and it's usually pretty good quality. In fact when I'd quite like to be able to get a slightly lower quality weed at a cheaper price. The bud I am getting at the moment is blue cheese, a very distinctive taste and smell, and knocks you sideways but it's not cheap by any means.

As for rolling, mix half and half weed and cig tobacco, it helps it burn slower and more consistently, and isn't as harsh as pure, which has me coughing my guts up. Agree it doesn't taste as nice though. In my limited experience (my cousin lives in San Diego and I either visit him or him us each year) roll fat little stubby joints with no roach. I don't like them, the smokes too harsh, you end up chucking away bud, and why anyone wouldn't put a roach in I don't know. Saying that he doesn't like smoking mine because of the tobacco (but is quite happy smoking a blunt?!?!)

On a seperate argument, OCB crystals! Everybody I know raves about them being the best skins, but I just can't get on with them at all. I find them fiddly, and they don't do what my fingers are telling them to. Much prefer rizla silvers.

When you say roach are you talking about the paper tips you roll to act like a filter? You wont see most americans using them b/c they are very hard to find in the states. I ended up bringing a bunch back. One of the things I enjoyed when going to the coffee shops when I lived in Holland was they give you tips and papers for free.

its vary hard to find a buisness card? part of a pizza pocket or waffle box or any peice of card?lol, 99% of the time ives used a "filter" ive cut up a buisness card, once i got searched and they found weed, and the cop gave me his card to call him if someone tried to sell to me again, next day that card was the roach to 3 nice joints,

Much love to fluff and others who have taken the time to learn how to hand roll a primo joint. I am in awe when I watch someone who has mastered the art of fine rolling.

I use a machine and even then it's half ass.

But I have this bong over here. So I'm gonna be alright.

And if those are hard to find, I just cut off a piece off the front end of a matchbook. I've seen people use strips torn off of packs of cigarettes, too.

I'm in the United States and I just used to roll joints by putting in chopped up herb into thin rice or hemp paper, putting in a small roach of rolled up cardboard found in the back of the pack of papers that I'd cut off, and that was it.

If I was using excellent herb I'd just use one paper, if it was not so good herb I'd just use more than one paper and make a big joint.

Well probably because all my weed and hash came from Amsterdam coffee shops so I can't comment.
As I say, I've seen adulterated shite for sale in Amsterdam coffeeshops, even some of the better ones. Afghan hash is usually cut, from what I've seen.#
Much prefer rizla silvers.
I hate silver Rizlas. I will never roll a joint with them again. I'll stick a couple of mini greens together before using a silver.

That surprises me. I guess from now every time I go there I'll have to be more discriminating.

I alternate between pure joints and mixed weed and herbal tobacco. I like pure joint because they taste nice but they are quite wastefull as they usually burn too fast so you are constanly puffing on them to not waste bud. Even a small pinch of herbal tobacco makes them much slower. I always roll them into a cone shape and always put the roach in after I have rolled them.

Haven't seen soap bar in about 4 years in the UK I know a very old school hash dealer who occasionally gets very good quality morrocon hash. He used to sell low quality morrocon / high quality soap bar but since the big weed drought of 2006 he hasn't had any. i have heard rumours about the withdrawl of soap bar being an organised thing by gangs but it is probably bollocks.

So what skins do you use normally? I find silvers burn slowest (I'm sure its down to some chemical or another, but whatever, if I was that bothered by my health I wouldn't be smoking a spliff!)

I use Highlands given the choice, or Smoking Eco, but if Rizla's what's on offer then Kingsize Blue Slims.

Tsk tsk, Bluelight's all about reducing the harms of drug use. You don't smoke soap, right?

Haha no, like I said above I haven't seen, or heard of any dealers selling soap bar (or any hash for that matter) in a long while.

I just mean I've heard of people saying they don't roll with silvers because the papers are bleached, or have something on them to make them burn slowly. I don't know if this is true or not, but at the end of the day, an unfiltered mix of cannabis and tobacco is gonna be unhealthy for you anyway isn't it, I don't think using these papers instead of others is going to make that much difference. If I was overly bothered I'd be vapourising, and I don't really care for that too much.

So is actual green bud hard to find in Europe outside of Amsterdam or do people just prefer hash even if it sucks?.[/QUOTE]

I Can't speak for the whole of europe, but on my tiny little island hanging onto the edge bud is easy enough to find. But saying that it's all about who you know I guess.

& To join in the rizzla debate, i'm agreeing with vader on the blue slims. Or if you have more choice, any OCB brand or those smoking ecos. I have a guy who sells bud and those ecos at discount rates. Good business plan!

nuts to silver/green/red skins.

Hash was traditionally more available in Europe until about twenty years ago, when the Dutch and then everyone else started producing domestic bud in significant quantities. Green is everywhere- if you were buying off a stranger or a dial-a-dealer, that's what you'd get, quality hash is harder to find, it is about but you have to move in the right circles.

In Canada we prefer the Rizla Blue Slims over the Rizla Silvers. Fucking stores here love selling the Silvers, had to order the slim blues online from the UK.

I bought rizzlas for the first time this summer, rizzla silver (in the states), and I hated them. Never even finished it- the package of rizzla silvers is what i've been tearing up, among other packs of skins, to use for the roach/crutch that i put in the end fo my joints.

I personally have become an major fan of zig-zag blues and white (the navy blue kutcorners, and the white Braunstein Freres). They have been absolutely excellent to me

^The silvers are shit, as are the reds. The blue thin ones are the good Rizlas IME.

I'm looking into new kinds of papers though... I'm thinking about maybe rice papers? I have always just bought my favorite kind from the local store, but where I am now, there's literally only two or three kinds of papers, and they're all big and thick. I prefer thin 1.0s.
