Jobseeker's Allowance Megathread ver. We're all overqualified!

i discovered that todays interview was for a very junior role, suitable for a school leaver, and paid minimum wage. It was pointless me even going as i wouldnt have been able to muster up or even fake any enthusiasm for the role and it would have been a complete waste of everyones time. I dont fake things very convincingly and apart from when its rude not to try to hide your feelings i just dont do it, so i rang the woman to let her know my honest reasons, with the faintest of hopes she might have said 'we might be able to increase the salarly a bit considering you have 20 years experience'. Dream on mdb that didnt happen, they want a school leaver who will be glad of a starter role at minumum wage. I would never have been happy with that, it was just a complete non starter. I'll have to make next Thursdays interview count now.
 
i suppose it is Eve, you are right. And the second point is a good one too, that one slipped my mind this morning, otherwise i might have been able to muster some motivation and enthusiasm for the interview. If i didnt have another interview for a much better job next week Id probably have gone to this one.

I am not currently claiming any benefits, so i dont have to worry about sanctions and infractions. I wouldnt have told them that i declined an interview anyway, i dunno if withholding information is the same thing as defrauding, I think I'd have gotten away with that as they wouldnt have known, or have had any way of knowing.
 
Yeah you can't done if you aren't claiming anything Mdb mate,well done on getting these interviews as that can be hard enough in itself.

Really sorry I thought that you were on jsa.
In that case you have to do what's right for you but how you going to cope money wise if you dont get that job on Thursday? Savings won't last forever.
 
no problem. Too right savings wont last for ever, at the start of 2013 it was like i had holes in my pockets i was getting through hundreds of pounds really quickly. I have changed my spending habits a lot though, switching from tobacco cigarettes to ecigs is saving me tons of money, as has stopping buying 8mg bupe pills on the black market. Jesus was that an expensive habit.
 
nothing new. Remember the old benefits agencies with the screens? Horrible places. Horrible system. Nothing beneficial about them. All made so that the person who makes the decisions is not too far from Stoke on Trent.
