Jobseeker's Allowance Megathread ver. The Jeremy Kyle Fan Club

I actually went into a Lidls(? spelling?) today. Not to be stereotypical, but for some reason it was full of Poles/Lituainains, the selection of fruit and veg they had was dire, and what was on display was on the turn. The meat selection was horrific, and it looked like mostly off cuts I'd feed the dog. Not even my own dog, a stray dog maybe.. After that it was just row after row of canned goods.

Only went in because there was a pricing error on the wine, so got 6 cases for next to nothing!

I'd much rather shop in Aldi than Lidl's. Unfortunately though, there is only a Lidl where I live. And you're right about the 'fresh' produce. It's terrible quality. The thing about buying fruit and veg from them is that everything is prepacked. You can't just pick up a couple of onions and 4 tomatoes - they are all in nets and packs of 6, or whatever. Mind you, it's like anything I guess. If you have to get used to it, you just do. Isn't the majority of theirs and Aldis stock German?

3 weeks out of 4 we will do our shopping in either Aldi or Lidl then the other week it;s either Tesco or Dunnes Stores.

fuck all wrong with alot of the aldi/lidl gear, a few things not great but most is good quality.

one thing i did notice is the quality of there German beer could be better.

Some good stuff at Lidl, though, as others have said, the fresh fruit and veg is pretty much always shite.

We're not on JSA.

7.80 p/h?! damn! good for them, shits all over my shitey wage!

and regardless of that, their food has a cracking range of stuff, and much of it is good quality.

and where else can you buy a chain saw, a spade, a bottle of brandy, bog-roll and a frozen pizza?

%)

Tesco

For anyone that may be called in for a medical assessment with Atos,it is your right to have the session recorded on their equipment and they have to give you a copy for yourself at the end of the session.
Let them know in advance of your assessment that you wish the session to be recorded.
Having a copy of the session could be very handy if any dubious questions or behaviour by Atos occurs during the session as you then have proof if you choose to take any decision to appeal.
This law only applies to England,Scotland and Wales but not N.Ireland.
40% of all appeals against Atos decisions are overturned in the claimants favour.

Cheers.

I got an assessment in 1 hr.
Think I'll phone them now and let them know I want a copy.

Am also in 2 minds about this whole thing.
On one hand, if I get found fit for work the 1st thing that will happen will be mass spending on class a's. Followed by waning work performance and probably the sack.

Plus my family really think I should be in treatment.
But part of me wants to be able to say 'fuck this' and just have a job to go to. :!

Yeah Brimster I'll pm you in a sec!
It went better than I thought it would.

Dunno if things have changed somewhat, but they seemed alot more interested in mental health & they even asked questions relevant to my lifestyle. 8o

Does anyone know how the system works with regards to the dates they pay you.

For instance I received a letter stating that my monies will increase from the 4th may.
I got paid today and received more than normal, but less than expected.

Say you began claiming 70 quid a week, fortnightly from the 1st of January and then they sent a letter stating that from the 8th January they would increase payments to 100 quid a week.

Then the next payday rolls around on the 14th of Jan.
Should you be getting 200 quid to last you the next fortnight? :?

EDIT: Apparently not.
Claims are paid in arrears & not credit.

Crap, it finally happened.

I have been registered to attend a 'Finding and getting jobs module', by my advisor. I have a perfectly good CV, and I certainly know how to behave in job interviews, but I guess my advisor needs to fill her quota.

Has anyone been to one of these? I'm supposed to be moving back to London in 10 days. Can you fob these off like you might do a signing? Like a 'excused signing' for instance? Or am I doomed to sit for 6 hours with a bunch of mongos?

I thought you were selling smart-phones in Glasgow? What happened? I must have missed your posts about that :(

Fortunately it got moved to Edinburgh. It was Fri Sat Sun. With my usual signing day being Thursday, I unashamedly didn't declare it to the JC.

I'm fuckin sick of the whole 'jobsearch' bollox..

I've been out of work for 18 months - the only time in my whole 36 year working life, and I've been forced onto the fuckin 'Work Program' where I get 'advised' by fuckin retards that can't wipe their own arses on 'how to look for work'! I fuckin know how to 'look for work', there just aren't any suitable jobs locally for me!!

I've just had to complete a 5 day course in 'looking for work, interview techniques and teamworking', which (eventually) will give me a 'qualification' (i.e. BTEC) which apparently is the equivalent of a 'GCSE'! Fuckin marvellous.. I've got 10 'O' levels, 3 'A' levels, a BSc and fuck knows what other work based qualifications, and a fuckin BTEC is supposed to get me a bastard job. I spent 5 days surrounded by mouth breathing spastics (no offense to real spastics like, it's just meant as a general term of abuse) that are totally unemployable, where I had to do all the work just to ensure I get my fuckin BTEC.

WANKERS, the lot of 'em....

Mind you, I love being out of work in this weather.....=D

Can a mod explain why my post about Universal Jobmatch and DWP asking permission to access a jobseekers records was deleted?
As well as Brimz reply

The post didnt compromise anything from a legal pov as far as I am aware of

When were they posted? I don't see any deleted posts by you or PT in the last several pages. If a mod had deleted them, I would see it, as we can't really delete anything, it just gets hidden.

[Universal jobmatch is relevant to lots of people too, so even if it were a person specific question, the answer could be really useful to a lot of claimants. The people i'm in touch with who are signing on have all not registered on Universal, and have therefore not signed it yet.] <--- Not really relevant now that knock has responded

Currently you can be mandated by the Job Centre to register, but you can choose not to tick the box to allow the DWP access. However recently, the DWP issued a press release stating that claimants would now HAVE to agree to give concent by ticking the box. But later the wording on this press release was changed to imply that they couldn't make you agree.

All very fudged and blurry advice and words from the DWP (as per fucking usual)

Basically they know they can't make you tick the box of consent due to data protection issues. (atm, they're looking for a way around it).

The DWP have produced a workaround for it atm tho, by forcing those people who have registered, to bring screenshots of their accounts in, but that has potential data protection issues for them as well, but it's up in the air atm
