Jobseeker's Allowance Megathread ver. The Jeremy Kyle Fan Club

I hate to sound a cunt but this is coming from someone who is currently unemployed. If you're serious about earning money then you'll fucking do it. Jobs are out there if you're willing really fucking look and be serious about it.

Same for those who've been out of work a while. There are courses/schemes aimed at the long term unemployed to show dedication to work - most brush these off before giving them a go. The worst that'll happen is it'll be a waste of time.

There's many reasons for people being/staying unemployed that are legitimate but if you aren't a total knobber there's probably a job for you.

Plenty of other ways to earn money too, that don't involve having a 'job'.

Don't give up the hope.

I apply for jobs every day. I either get sent back a rejection ( I always ask for feedback, and it's either too many other suitable applicants, or helpfully they break it down and tell the truth, on the last occasion they told me that I just didn't have enough insurance experience)

Something will come up, you just HAVE TO KEEP TRYING. Like I am now.

It wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. Have you considered taking up one of those re-entry back into the workforce courses that are currently funded by the government? That surely must look good to employers.

Getting a job and working for someone else is bollocks IMO. Absolute bollocks. I'm gonna work for myself.

Yeah I want to be my own boss too, having a boss doesn't suit me at all (working doesn't suit me full stop). Only problem is I don't know what to do. Signed on as of today, rapid reclaim so apparently should have cash soon. With the job centre you never know.

There is just too many people and not enough jobs, especially in shit little mining towns like where I live, I don't know one person with a job in my age group.

Anyone else a 'giro junkie' and blow the lot in one session then be skint for the next 1 week 6 days haha. One good day of buying what ever then back to having nothing untill you sign on again. Saying that I fucked the job centre off and dont sign on any more ass they wanted to send me on a 14 week course using computers to look for a job 6 hours a day, I can do that at home. It's really not worth the hassle. They are really making people work hard for that £130 every 2 weeks these days, it's all most as if each persons whom works there objective is to get you kicked off JSA by making you do shitty courses and apply for shitty jobs that are 25 miles out of the way and you dont drive and would have to catch multiple buses for all of 6poundafuckinghour!

You got that right mate! That's the idea aint it, make ur life poxy and not worth going thru for the sake of £130 a fortnight. Bullshit courses and jobs that you wudn't ever dream of doing. Then they can point to the reduced figures of people claiming benefits and say that they're doing a good job.

I was wondering about those figures. How the number of unemployed went way up but those on benefits have been cut.

IMO it just means that those who aren't claiming either can't as they live with a working partner or.... their benefits have been stopped for what ever reason.

Them 2 week courses are an absolute nightmare, I lasted 2 hours at the last one before walking out. What a waste of time and money.

What did you have to do?

Nothing really, that's the worst part. Sitting in a room doing fuck all, all day its soul destroying. Supposed to be doing jobsearch but that takes like half an hour at most to have a look on the job site.

Aye doesn't take long like. How long do they expect you to spend there a day?

In think it's meant to last for 7 hours or some shit like that! Looking at some computer with a load of other people who don't want to be there either.

Really is no point, there's only so many online resources to look at and it doesn't take 7hrs. And as most of us have computers at home it's a total waste of time for everyone involved.
