Is this the 'tobacco moment' for cannabis?

Sativex is already being prescribed in this country.

It's a farce. Some health authorities will prescribe it, others not.

It's produced by GW pharmaceuticals iirc, and is a cannabis tincture, extracted oil, dissolved, and delivered in a little spray bottle to be sprayed under or on the tongue.

GW make a lot of money on this, and it's approved because it's a clinically controlled product. It supposedly tackles MS symptoms, without the recreational high.

This is fucking nonsense. GW grow low THC strains, but not THC free strains. The WHOLE PLANT is extracted, not just the CBD's....

Its the same as anyone who grows can do. They present it as a modern miracle, but its not, they are just legitimately growing weed, extracting the oil, and selling it at a large profit, and at great cost to the NHS.

If I was to do the same, I'd be put inside.

I do know some people who are doing this, preparing tinctures for cancer patients. This is highly illegal though.

The thing is, they try to extract certain parts and creat a synthetic medication but its never as effective as the straight up natural plant. So many complex chemicals in there.

Why does it matter if people get high anyway, plenty of commonly prescribed pain meds do that. At least weed is a NICE high. I always think if one is in pain and discomfort the medication should get you buzzed anyway to relieve the stress of whatever is wrong.

Does it become class A once you extract it? Or have I made that up?

I know other drugs certainly change class depending on what you've done with them.

Pretty sure, without checking mind, that cannabis oil is class A.

EDIT Although preliminary checks seem to indicate oil went from Class A to Class C with the reclassification then to Class B with the re-re-classification. I didn't know this. Will check further.

Of course it doesn't. It's absolutely ludicrous that I can be put in jail for growing & smoking a plant without bothering anyone, purely because I would enjoy it. It would be fine for me to grow & smoke a plant that I wouldn't enjoy (mint for example lol).

Does anyone know for a fact if it is class A? I'd always thought it was but I'm not sure.

As far as I can see, no mention is made of the oil in the Misuse of Drugs Act, just "cannabis and cannabis resin", class B, and "cannabinol and it's derivatives", also class B. I'm relying on wikipedia though, fuck clicking on all the changes to the MODA that they haven't actually got round to updating in the latest revision.

I've been having a look for that cannabis clasification too. I'm sure I've read before that oil was a class A, I remember it because I though it was absolute bollocks. Something along the lines of an oil being a preparation for injection?

With bubble bags making good hash is pretty easy. They're pricey but pay for themselves in no time at all.

I know, I've gone through a couple of sets over the last 12 years or so, before that used various methods to make oil, never as clean as good bubble, or even well made dry sift using the bubblebags....

And to make REALLY good bubble hash takes a lot more patience than making oil, drying properly etc....

As soon as I got my first set of bubble bags I don't think I made oil again for years....

Yes, preparations for injection of class Bs are all class A. I suppose you'd have to look in the case law to see if oil was considered a preparation for injection.

Actually it was clarified in a circular, oil is class B. So it must not be considered a preparation for injection.

Thanks Knock. Every day is a school day eh? :D

edit: MM, I see I'm trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs here :D

I love a bit of Butane oil, but never made the crude oil looking stuff the police man brought to our school in the '89, I was mesmerised by his suitcase of drugs.

Si Ingwe;11088978Annecdotal evidence from Rodent Weekly & published online at ratsandmiceondrugs.org suggests that nontheless said:
The experiment I always wish they'd do is - ok inject enormous quantities directly into their brains but then instead of killing them, just leave them alone with the other rats and treat them normally. Then go back in 6 months time and see what "brain damage" the rats have suffered. My guess is they would all be behaving exactly the same as any other rat. Just because a couple of fucking synapses look dodgy for a couple of days after heavy abuse doesn't mean it's going to have any long term effect on the rats life or behaviour.

i shall read this proper tomorrow. but yes the points i would have made have been made... schiz is usually diagnosed in teen/20s? these people have been likely looking for something that makes them feel ok?
wonder what the percentage of alcohol users go on to develop something else.
alcohol; use leads to canabis leads to HARD drugs...does anyone say that any more? hard drugs and soft drugs? hard skills and soft skills in the call centre environment

^^

Yeah I think they still say soft drugs lead onto hard drugs, I don't think any anti-drug argument has ever been dropped. They still recycle the old "it makes you fight 10 men after being shot" story that's been used for opium, heroin, pot, acid, PCP etc.

Yeah, cannabis is still a 'gateway drug'. They can shove that up their arse, because I got pissed, before I fancied trying something else. Alcohol is the worst gateway drug going - mainly because it removes your inhibitions. I wonder how many people took 'drugs' before they took alcohol.

I can't find the source now, but there were pictures and literature about the spray causing mouth ulcerations.

Totally right man, I was out getting pished well before I ever smoked a joint. I was pished the first time I tried most other drugs, at least the initial ones that I'd been wary of, like I'd avoided pills because everyone believed the propaganda then I was drunk one time & someone offered me a swedger so I thought fuck it & took it, I'd have said no at that time if I was sober. Same with coke.
