Opioids Is this even possible??? (opiate withdrawal)

okay, it's like 11pm, and i have only taken 100mg darvocet at like 8am this morning. i'm definitely noticing more withdrawal symptoms, nothing terrible, but i am worried it will totally kick in if i don't take a second 100 mg propoxyphene. would it be a bad idea to continue on the previous tapering plan i had in mind or will that really just prolong the withdrawals?i decided not to take any more darvocet bc i got the idea that i would get withdrawals no matter what and i might as well go ahead and experience them now... to anyone's knowledge is that correct? or would it be possible to just taper down more slowly through the week on darvocet and not experience anything too terrible? does anyone have any experience or input on this?

You are worrying way too much about withdrawals, just read a book or something to occupy your time.

Or write a journal, you are obviously good at that.

ha, OWNED!!!@#$

no, you're totally right. definitely worrying too much. still pretty amazed at the minimal discomfort i'm currently experiencing

I do not mean this in a negative way or belittling way, just to ease your worries I wanna say that

100mg oxy a day is a small habit, you are already pretty much through what would have been the worst of them, there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to take any drugs at this point, just cold turkey all the way.

and make this the last time you quit, it only gets harder adn harder, take it from me

the firs ttime I quit I was at like probabaly 90-120mg oxy a day...after some relapses..well lets just say that what I used to use in a day would not even get me off sick :(

just for posterity's sake, i figured i'd post an update to this thread. thank you to everyone who responded; i really appreciate all the advice, etc.

i guess it turns out i really am pretty lucky because i never really experienced any serious w/d symptoms from stopping 100-160 mg 2-year daily oxy habit. i know it's not the biggest habit around or anything, but i certainly expected to feel bad for a few days. fortunately, that never really happened. i posted in the first mesage what i had done to taper down, etc., and i guess it helped, but i was able to completely halt all opiate use in about a week without ever really feeling bad. i slept well; i worked a full day at the office every day; i attended business meetings; i ate all meals, etc.

this is not intended to be some "fuck you guys, o'doyle rules!" type post. i just thought maybe it could help someone who is on the edge of quitting by giving them confidence that it might not be as awful as they have built it up to be... at all. obviously every situation is unique, and from what i gather i wasn't doing that much and also apparently i'm incredibly lucky, but i know i would have probably stopped or taken a lot more breaks or whatever if i'd known it wasn't going to be that bad. so maybe it won't be for you either! i'm ecstatic about quitting that stuff myself; i felt like it seriously limited my enjoyment of life for a long time. anyway, thanks again everyone! take it easy :)

Cat, I think like that everyones body and what they experience is always different... Like i was taking pretty good doses of methadone for 6 years, the first 2 years if was twice a week, the next year it was 3 times a week and the final 3 years i had been taking it every other day, and also smoking loads of fent patches when i didnt have any methadone, and also taking hydrocodone 50 MG (or higher if i had the 10/325s)... and like i do experience withdrawl and it can get pretty bad, but i never have experience nausea and vomiting and stuff like that, the worst of my symptoms seem to be very restless legs, twitching, tremors and sometimes hot flases, and sneezing as well, the restless legs and tremors can get pretty bad, but bearable i suppose, although i really hate going through it, lately i have been taking 40-60 MG methadone every other day, and still get the same symptoms, no nausea ever... and when i take oxy, i will take 120-160 MG at a time as well. Methadone has always gotten me the highest.

I'm KINDA the same. My tolerance/WD severity can drop extremely quickly. I also hae a fast metabolism. For instance I do a half G of dope daily for a week then titrate to four 5mg Vics a day in a woppin three days. The titrate would hurt but I would'nt feel bad at all by the second day. And some people who are active, once your withdrawls are down to 3 darvs a day, you don't even notice them. I use skateboarding for that reason.

Everyone seems to have completely different WD experiences. I was on a pretty serious H regimen for almost two years. When I decided to quit, I took a few 30mg codeine pills(not anything compared to what I was consuming)a day for about a week then completely quit. I threw up a few times and experienced the usual RLS and hypotension for a few days but nothing compared to some other horror stories i've heard. Unfortunately I guess some get it worse than others. Cat congrats on quitting, your taper plan was fierce but in the end it seemed to work.

"update: it's now the morning of day 3 w/out any oxy. i have not yet taken any darvocet or anything else yet, and i feel relatively normal. i woke up in a pool of sweat, and i'm experiencing minor stomach irritation, but for the most part i feel perfectly fine right now, even before taking any propoxyphene.
"

^For some reason your wd is much lighter, although still present, the pool of sweat and stomach irratation are my main two symptoms when I wd as well.

Are you pretty well versed in pain, perhaps you just took it like a man.

thats how Id tell the story.

but really cold turky from IV heroin I never felt some of the horrors BL'ers have described, burning bones! shitting and puking simultaneously, idk I sweat alot shit alot and feel hot and cold at the same time, plus anxiety and whatnot, like a bad flu mixed with a panic attack....its made worse in the mind of the addict, than telephone gamed through other addicts untill its misery has reached legendary status based on some unlucky bastard in poor health's worst wd experience ever.

your my hero lmfao

Withdrawl can/will heat up for a couple few days and get worse, worst case scenario for the amount you were taking you wont even get relief for a solid week. Rule of thumb coming into a kick is not to expect to feel better for atleast 10 days. I hope it passes quickly for you though. And staying clean after that, well thats a whole nother story :P good luck.
