Is the gym a "creeper" place to approach girls?

I'm curious if you guys think that having a guy coming up to you at the gym and starting to chat it up with you would be weird or just rude in ways? I'm just curious what everybody thinks as this is like the only place I ever leave the house to go to right now as I'm unemployed until next month. I'm probably too shy to do it anyways though. I'd probably never do this. Is the gym the sort of place where you gotta leave people alone and give them their space?

I think it's a bit of a strange place to hit on people since they're all gross and sweaty, but I don't think it's creepy. Don't do it while they're actually working out though, I know I'd be really pissed off if a guy interrupted me in the middle of it :\
 
I think it's a timing thing, if you try to talk to them in the middle of a set of squat thrusts then yea, it's probably going to be weird.

To appear less creepy you could just stalk them and wait until they hit the water fountain, then make your move. But don't let them pick up in the fact that you're stalking them to te water fountain, that's creepy.

What's up with all this 'creeper' shit anyways? Do women normally encounter unwanted sexual advances so often that men have to constantly wort about being 'creepy'?

Btw could someone define 'creepy' for me?

Yes. It can happen far too often. I don't like being honked at when I'm walking down the street. I don't like having guys yelling things at me when I'm just wandering around. I don't like having guys approach me the second my boyfriend leaves my side when I'm clubbing. And those are just a few examples. So yes, it can be frustrating.

To the OP. Like others have said, make sure they aren't in the MIDDLE of exercising. Like after or before is fine. Just say hi and start chatting. :)

I find it creepy if a guy obviously about 40 years older than me hits on me in a club or something, or if a guy insists on having my number and then texts me literally every 10 minutes for two weeks without getting any reply back, and doesn't stop until I literally tell him to fuck off (true story).
My only creeper experience at the gym (which I mentioned in the social thread a few weeks ago) was when a past hook-up was very obviously staring at me for a good 20mn during my work-out, waiting for me to finish so he could jump on me. He was literally standing a couple meters away looking at me the whole time. That was quite unsettling.

But those are borderline sociopathic behaviors so I honestly don't think most guys need to worry about being creepy that much hah

Yes! The "much older" thing is kinda creepy. And the staring thing!!!!!! Ok I don't get that at the gym much but anywhere really, staring is not cool. Either approach the person or just forget about it. Aha.
 
Don't hit on girls when they're exercising on the leg machine they have to open and close their legs for.

I personally would think it was weird, unless the guy really captivated my attention and didn't act as a stammering creep that stared at my body the whole time while talking to me
 
I talk to everyone at the gym lol Girls and guys, Ive met a fair few friends at the gym. Not a GF yet, but didn't really need to. I don't think its creepy nor would a girl think its creepy...unless you do something weird like walk up to her when she's doing yoga and say "Nice Spread Eagle pose" lol. :D
 
I used to talk to this pretty butch lesbian that picked up girls at the gym all the time.

I am sure she didn't consider herself a creeper.

I have aspergers and the amount of unwanted attention every time I go outside in less than a winter coat is absolutely intimidating. Strange men are so overwhelmingly weird and rude I would never trust a strange man soliciting my attention.
 
Poor you, people are noticing you as being (presumably) attractive and/or are just trying to interface you. That's absolutely horrifying! Like holy fuck, I can't imagine anything worse than that. Shit, I'd rather be being used non-consensual medical experiments involving un-anaesthetized surgical procedures, or be in a metal cylinder resting on the floor beneath 330 feet of water as it slowly fills with water and runs out of air.

You must have a brutal, unbearable existence and deserve the sympathy of everyone for your tribulations.

lol I kinda think the same way. Take it as a compliment and move on. "Creeper" and "stalker" get thrown around way too much. No wonder men have a hard time approaching women.
 
^Agreed, but as I said in my previous post I do think there comes a point where harrassment becomes creepy.
I dunno who rangrz was talking to so I just came in here to defend myself :p
 
I dunno I have no problem at the gym talking to girls but you gotta realize usually your not gonna be the biggest best looking dude there, so be ready to be turned down, and a lot of girls ive noticed dont go to the gym with their SO so he may be at home kicking it and your still gonna get rejected.
 
My trainer hit on me before he was about to move and he made our last few workouts a little uncomfortable but me you gotta remember men are just swinging for the fences and the law of averages says they'll score sooner or later. Can't knock a guy for trying.
 
i hate when guys approach me at the gym. i wear headphones and don't give off any sort of vibe that i want to talk to people. avoiding people at the gym is one of the main reasons i pay a trainer and work out in private.
