is myspace making us more "americanized"?

It reminds me of how crap she really is... I thought she was cool and interesting before myspace came along.. you know that feeling when something has all of a sudden lost its mystery, I'm feeling that :(

^oh you will soon enough.... everybody gives in soon enough, dont resist the myspace!

I don't "myspace ",I belong to a http://www.canadianstalk.ca/ forum and they all seem to belong to "the space"and found each other there

The one time I visited "my space " all these ads started coming on the screen ,porno, gambling and crap so I never went back --nothing wrong with porno ,but when you didn't ask for it you shouldn't have to look at it

What exactly am I missing ???

They seem to be cookie cutter personal web-pages for people who aren't computer savvy and want to have their own slice of the web.

I remember the good old days when you used to have to code a personal website yourself and upload it to 2mg worth of space at Geocities.
Those pages back then were often poorly designed and overly bright... with plenty of animated GIF's of wizards casting lightning... but they still had pretty much all of the same stuff. Likes / Dislikes / Links / Friends / Me! / Counter / Contact / Photo page.

Myspace is just Geocities stripped down. McGeocities.

...Plus it seems like a lot of people are just too fake on there... For example I noticed an old ex of mine put on the site that she only ever listens exclusively to "Jazz".

Which really, is just such total wank.

I like the option on it that lets you search for people by High School they went to. It's funny seeing people whom I used to go to school with's interpretation of themselves.

I really hate MySpace and when I'm talking to someone and find out they have one, I usually automatically register them in the same category as people like magic card players, toilet cleaners, World of warcraft nerds.... you get my drift... But you have to admit 99% of Myspace ARE losers and 99% of their page is absolute attention-seeking BULLSHIT :)

i think in the future everyone will have a myspace. it will be like when people started getting mobile phones. Slowly but surely they became a necessity. Some will fight it, but all will eventually give in ;)

I dont like a lot of people's arrogance on myspace. Its annoying.
Its exactly the same as the real world tho, get over it. && thats where its my choice not too look at it.

I used to hate the thing, but its opened me up to some really great music i never would have heard otherwise :)
if you can like it for whatever you get out of it & ignore the rest of the bullshit, its just another cool little web site to play with..

Just to let you know. When you upload your original music to Myspace, you are giving the right to Fox to use it commercially in anything they want, and making profit from it.
Another complain about myspace is everyones page is shockingly lame.. I mean all those pictures, blinking anims, videos playing, scrolling backgrounds, music playing etc... ugh!

And mobile phones have a use, where as MySpace is a place for 14 year old girls to dress up like skanks or cry with black make up on.

lol - i was being serious too8) :)

^And me:\ if only the internet was more transparent to this kind of thing...:(

If I remember correctly you cannot look at a members myspace profile if they are under 18, until you send them a request to add. But what young curious 15 year old girl isnt't going to think its "cool" to have a 20something guy on their friends list! So it doesnt really prevent pedos and psychos and stuff like that from finding their prey.

So basically Ive missed nothing , the ablity to become a modified faka version of one self and display that to the world ,sounds well like many government officials /politicians --lol have I described it ??

My God, the visual carnage!

Wont someone think of the children?*

* (ahem, aside from the x-army myspace pedos)

Just to elaborate...

I can only assume there is some kind of fundamental genetic flaw in the human genome. A random sampling of MySpace clearly shows that the average human must undergo some kind of eye-rolling, keyboard-smashing epileptic fit when faced with the option of a visual layout and colour palette.

Thank god for Mozilla image-block/site-block preventing me from suffering more than a little vomit in my eyes every time i see the results of peoples 'flirt with creativity'
