Yeah - I know someone for whom NO opioids have any effect whatsoever.
Obviously the very fist thing a doctor will think is that the patient is exhibiting 'drug seeking behavior' but this person was eventually given a number of chemically unrelated opioids and none had any effect.
There is a strain of mouse used in research. As a class they are termed 'knockout mutations' and as the name suggests, genetic manipulation knocks out a specific biochemical target.
I was VERY relieved to realize that non-pehnolic opioids DO work for me or else I would need 24/7 care. I don't think I would deal with that too well.
