I quit smoking all together about 6 years ago after smoking for about 8 years but not really heavy, at my worst I was smoking between 10 and 15 a day maybe more if I was getting pissed. but in the last year I been smoking again but only when I have had a few drinks or I'm raving and mashed haha.

but I don't have any urge what so ever when I'm sober or even when I'm bored only when I'm intoxicated I'm hoping it will stay this way and I'm sure it will as I got very strong will power but I don't experience any cravings yet.

Depends, I've smoked for 15 years on and off and never found it difficult to stop. Smoked 20 a day for a year or 2, then just cut down. These days I have 0-10 a day, but go days without smoking. It's been like that for about 10 years. I think a lot has to do with the fact I don't have the opportunity to smoke for most of the day though - once I've had my first I carry on.

if I don't get pissed or wrecked I could go weeks without touching a cig. if I really wanted to u could stop all together tho and I probably will soon at least for a while tho.

Were you ever addicted to smoking or was it all 'social' in the past? If the former, then no I wouldn't smoke at all.

Personally I'd say what's the point at all either way... waste of money & bad for your health. (ex-smoker here...)

^That.

I smoked a bit when I was younger and still occasionally do when the mood takes me (i.e. it's a friend's spliff or I'm on mdma), and it's never grabbed me, thankfully. But I wouldn't be touching the stuff if I'd been addicted to it in the past..

I did sort of used to crave it, like I had to have one in the morning before work and I used to smoke at work a lot actually. going completely smoke free for 3 and half years cured me I think. I have tried to smoke a couple times sober and I really don't enjoy it like I used to. tastes nice when wrecked tho strange

When I finished my degree 7 years ago, I made a rule that I wouldn't smoke at work any more. This broke the habit enough for me to become a social smoker and I wouldn't say I'm addicted now. I do like a cig or two when I'm drinking or on other stuff still though and sometimes I fancy one when I get home from work in the evening. I've got no desire to give up completely though, a 12.5g pouch of baccy lasts me 2 or 3 weeks so it could be worse I guess.

thats one thing I can't stand even when I was a full time smoker is baccy. I would of rather went without than smoke it.

When I was younger it was something you associated with old men or homeless people but it seems more popular than fags now, hardly surprising the price of fags now.

Heh, I'm the complete opposite, I don't really like straights (does anyone else use that term for a proper cigarette?). The smoke seems hotter and more dry for some reason. Only time I smoked straights regularly was when I lived in Germany and didn't find any baccy I wanted to smoke. Also, straights were a third of the price they are in the UK!

I used to use rollies mostly until I got addicted at which point I was just smoking cigarettes.

My opinion has always been that rolling tobacco tastes much better than that in cigarettes.

Me neither unless im properly mashed, too much to smoke and they stink and make me feel like ive smoked about 5 rollies at one or something, and yeah i use the term straights, a lot of people here do

I've been a social smoker since I was 13, and you probably will get addicted at some point, even I have ..... Which I hate when I buy a pack, just bum cigs and youll be ok

Most people I know call them straights, I imagine it might be a UK thing though...

I've known a few "social smokers" but they still fall into habit. One person I knew would only smoke when they were in the pub, but they really struggled not to smoke whenever they were in the pub.

Likewise someone I used to work with only smoked two or three in the evening after work (so about 12 hours after getting up).

I started as a social smoke in school, but it just became more and more frequent.

I think what you really need to wonder is what would define a social smoker? Is it someone who smokes only in social situations or someone who can choose when and where they smoke without feeling compelled.

Well for me its only when I'm drinking or wrecked but only if I'm on a level, I still wouldn't be tempted to have a cig after say a couple of pints but once I've had more than 4 or 5 drinks then I might have one.

I don't chain smoke tho maybe having one every 1 or 2 hours depending on how fucked I am but yeah I can take it or leave it.

The amount I'm smoking when wrecked tho is gradually getting more

Heh, I can be like that, but only if I'm in the pub with another smoker, then I can't stand them going out for a smoke if I'm not having one! If I'm the only smoker in a group I often won't smoke at all though.

Absolutely. I was essentially just a social smoker for a long time but for some reason everytime I relapse on the gear I turn in to a fully fledged 20 a day. This time it happened I got in to vaping though and now it seems I have a fully fledged nicotine addiction. Doesn't feel like it then I lose my vape for 30 minutes and start climbing the walls, it's not a good thing really but it's got to be better then 20 fags a day.
