Early-mid 90's were the best era in music in my opinion. So much countless good music, Generation X was full of creative geniuses. 2000s are an era of simple confusion with all this technology and the basic collapse of the record industry. Music has become more intimate, more available, as a result, and as was said before, means you have more crappy products among the gold. I think eventually among all this technological chaos we will figure out a way to organize things a bit better to make more impressive artists more accessible without necessarily distancing them as was done in the 20th century. It'll be interesting to see how that works out.
