is heroin really THAT good?

Good way to put it Silverfucked.

I have problems with my life but not social problems. I have recently got over a 3 year relationship that ended very bitterly with my girlfriend cheating on me with a "friend". Heroin and other opiates help me escape. Any "uppers" as they call them, make me worse and their is no euphoria involved. It makes me think more and all I really want is to sleep and feel a warm euphoria where nothing matters at the time. So I prefer the nod.

I don't consider 'euphoria' and 'problem-solving' equivalent feelings.

I might PREFER one over the other...but they are still distinct emotional states.

In my opinion, I think oxycodone is more euphoric than heroin; fentanyl has a better rush; and smoking coke gives more pleasure (more euphoria overall). Don't get me wrong, I think heroin is a great drug, but it isn't my fave in terms of rush or euphoria.

BTW, what kind of opium was it that you had? It may have not been "real" opium, otherwise you WOULD have felt it. Personally, opium makes me feel cracked out (wandering around aimlessly forgetting where you're going, e.g.) and it isn't exactly my fave opiate, but it's okay and you would have felt it.

Yes, euphoria is not the same as utility.,

In my last post, I admitted that mdma is more euphoric, but I would prefer heroin in any situation. Maybe I generalized about the side-effects for others, but from personal experience mdma has significantly more side-effects in comparison to heroin, and the side-effects are much more debilitating. To me, heroin is just a much more usefull and practical drug, not because of its intense euphoria, but as a result of its physical and emotional analgesic properties. The rush isnt bad either.....

>what kind of opium was it that you >had? >It may have not been "real" >opium,

i had it three times, from two different sources, in a very remote corner of south-east asia; middle of the "golden-triangle" which is one of the world's most important regions for opiate production;

i felt it kicking in, but after that i felt...well...a bit dull and confused; a bit spaced out; but not euphoric and definitely not impressed;

maybe i didn't notice its painkilling impact because i didn't have any pain or stress whatsoever anyway; maybe i did not have enough, although - as i said - i smoked a considerable amount and felt it kicking in;

i used to think heroin was nothing particular until i IV:ed it. And my response was about the same as i had when i first tried MDMA several years earlier ... which was something like " shit this is good, shit! shit! shit!, gooooood oh my this is fucking good ".

and it was, the rush anyways.

now several injections later i dont really find it mindblowing. the rush has never been the same as the first time so ive stopped chasing it. I never had any physical discomfort/wd and only very mild psychological cravings from time to time.

it does not cure/bandaid anything within me, only provides a pretty decent high with a nice rush to it, and thats why i dont really feel anything for it.

its very nice the first times IV but compared to the first time full on mdma-experience i dont think it stands up.

but thats me.

in my opinion if you dont like it , as someone said you had shitty dope..

in my experience

good smack = euphoria + nice nod or not up to user

average or bad = mild euphoria and that lazy ass feeling of wanting to sleep all goofy blah..

for the last 7 months only some lame smack has been around for me and its not worth using so if this was the smack i would have tried for the first time i wouldnt be here writing this :\

This shit could go on forever. All in all it comes down to the person and their tastes. Silverfucked had a good point in talking about the physical and emotional pain killing aspects of opiates. What i could add to that is if someone suffers from say anxiety, which millions of people do, they are going to lean down the path of depressants.

I've only smoked it but it didn't blow me away and it was fairly high quality tan rocks.

I could never get much pleasure before I threw up, not really much insentive to go further altough I did polish off 4 bags.

I still believe in my point, both negro1 and negro2.. ;)

Euphoria is subjective... If euphoria where strictly a physical thing, then everyone would enjoy all the same drugs equally.

Euphoria is a mental feeling of pleasure and satisfaction, and you cant have satisfaction without satisfying something.. hence problem solving.. A person who has an itch will scratch it and feel alot better, than a person who scrathes the same place without an itch.. (make sense?) Drug euphoria is the same way IMO.. Your specific little problems in life are the itch, and the drug that you find has the most euphoria is most likely the one that does "the scratching".. Two different people may have itches in different places, and therefore different drugs will be seen as more euphoric.. subjectivity.. Euphoria is not set in stone, but tailored to the user.

If I dont already feel overwhelmed by life, and am totally fine with where I'm at, have no problems to avoid, how could I find a drug designed to let me escape euphoric? in essense im already where the drug would take me, so where would the enjoyment or euphoria be in that..

If I am socially adept, always on task, and focused why would I enjoy a drug designed to give me qualities I already have?? I wouldnt. I would find little euphoria as there would be no real transition into a state that I desire because of qualities I lack.

The reality is that everyone has problems, and almost everyone wants to be someone they arent. .This is why pretty much everyone who uses drugs will find one or another euphoric.. It is rare to find someone who gets no satisfaction out of any recreational drug.. Its just that a person will enjoy the drug that most transforms them into what they want to be, and since we all have different desires, euphoria is subjective..

Ask someone why they take the drug that they do:

Amphetamine or coke : "It makes me more social and I like the feeling of power it gives me". I can gaurantee you that this person at least feels a little socially inept or inferior, esp once they can compare their sober self to theirselves on speed.. If they didnt feel this inferiority, how would they enjoy speed... it would not make them more social or give them a feeling of power. hence there would be no euphoria. euphoria is subjective.

Opiates or benzos : "I like the way it lets me take a break, and just rest from the worries and stresses of life.." at least thats what most downer users will say, and in that statement they just admitted that they feel the need or desire to escape from pressure.. You always get those who say "It just feels good".. Well it feels good for a reason, and these users are usually new and havent analyzed their behavior enough..

Polydrug abusers(like myself) typically feel inadequate in many areas or just in general.. Whether most of you want to believe it or not, habitual use of a drug is almost always as a form of escapism or temporary transition.. there is a reason they call alcoholism and drug addiction a disease.. Addicts are precisely what they are because their brain is telling them there is a void or flaw in their life, whether there is one or not.

Sure drugs give a body high that feels good(I mean the opiate body numbness is spectacular) and enjoyment of this can be seen as totally independent of a users mental condition.. People who casually use drugs may indeed only use because the body high feels good... However, I think most people will agree that habitual users dont keep coming back for just the body high.. I mean I cant really see spending $30 to feel good physically when Im still sitting there having a panic attack... They are hand in hand, and the mental effect, IMO, is the influentual effect of a drug.

Ive found that people who try or use drugs for awhile and then just quit, with no desire to come back, usually have no gaps to fill in their life..

Ok im tired. :)

I doubt that you had real opium.
If you did, I'm sure that you would have been impressed
i've had real opium (and enough to throw up all night long too) and wasn't impressed either. it really depends on the person.

Obviously opinions will vary, its damn good but its not 10000 orgasms at once like stated in Trainspotting. Its good enough to keep raising its head and re-entering my life. Due to its low toxicity addicts can continue to use with out suffering the negative health problems like Coke or Meth heads. I did my first H detox 5 years ago but it still continue's to plague me today.

^^^ more like the good feeling after an orgasm.. I dont like the orgasm analogy... I think orgasm I think nitrous..

but the rush from IV heroin is definately close to an orgasm. I agree though. Heroin is easily the most addictive and pleasurable drug for me. It's the most dependable and produces the effects i desire....a personal preferenece for sure.

I wasn't impressed (did not iv). First time was fun, but I don't like the nod. The feeling of mind-numbing i don't like; if it's than quiet in my head i get bored (so smoking some cannabis with it helps). I guess taken with speed should be nice (opium with speed was a bit mdma-ish in the sense of being extremely easy going and empathetic). For me its like the relaxation of xanax but without any disinhibition. Really more like a illegal tranquillizer for unhappy housewives.

i was just wondering if heroin really gives you such a mind blowing experience of pleasure that it makes everything else look pale in comparison;

or is it just the odd, dull high you develop a physical addiction to if you do it too often?

have done opium but wasnt too impressed;

i know it probably varies from user to user, but some opinions would be appreciated;

Absolutely subjective, and the downer point in relation to anxiety, or even depression, imho, is correct. If you have anxiety, uppers tend to stress you out a bit more, you're going to get more side effects than euphoria or pleseant times. However, cook up a shot, or pop 2mg of alprazolam and you'll be sedated and less full of worries. I'm into my third year with the horse now, and it's definitely hard to kick; however, it's not just because of phsycial addiction, it's, honestly, more psychological for me. My anxiety isn't more pronounced without it, it's just less pronoucned with it. It takes a huge burden off my shoulders, and often let's me calm down enough so I can take a better look at what's going on in my life. Although it's not a very good solution, or approach, it's the only thing I've found that I can consistently rely on to help me. To me, yes, it's that good; howevever, that doesn't mean it is to everyone.
