Is Bluelight dying ?

It wasn't like it was ever put to community vote was it?
no. because, you know why :)

lots of loungers love to bring this up but never bother to mention that the administration acknowledged pretty quickly (with a couple of days if i recall) that the move was a mistake and the changes were reversed immediately after that. but that part doesn't fit the narrative so just omit it, right?

the number of outright lies i've read about that incident is pretty disappointing. when people have to make up shit to criticise you, they have nothing.

Basically someone on reddit under the name spikedust said they were you. They sent me all those links. My bad I guess people lie on reddit lol. No ill will meant towards you brother

Fucking weak man. That's nothing of an apology for big shit caused. You should be ashamed.

Yet here we are two years later as a hidden forum.

Where are the staff involved by the way?

There is a long list of staff who have had their knickers in a knot over the lounge who no longer even post on bluelight. Win the battle, lose the war

so maybe we need to do something about that? some people were against that change, some people were all for it. i just looked in support and my pms and see no messages - from you or anybody - saying "i think hiding the lounge is a mistake. will you please revisit that decision."

some post. some don't but that doesn't change the fact that certain people lie about what happened to make a point. except when you can't make your point without lying, you have no point.'

i don't think we're at war but it's interesting that some people choose to characterize it that way.

PM's and behind the scene dealings are for politicians.

I am of the people, for the people and as a result prefer things to be public and open

the tl;dr is that a couple of admins decided to make the lounge subscription only (i.e you had to apply for access and the staff decided whether or not to let you in). i was on vacation at the time and was not aware of the change. a lot of people were understandably annoyed and, on my return. i reversed the change.

some related reading here in this public thread: The Lounge now a hidden subforum

note:

Hi everyone,

I just want to make this post to clarify some things.

First of all, the changes to The Lounge that were implemented were my doing. I implemented them hastily, partially due to misreading the situation, and partially because I decided that enough time had passed and that action had to be taken. The reality is that not enough time had passed, and not enough people were properly consulted. There was insufficient consensus. I take full responsibility for that, and apologize to the community for causing such an ill planned disruption. I was attempting to take on a leadership role with actions that were premature, and it has caused quite a mess. The settings that I tinkered with were for an advanced technician and it set some mishaps into motion which are now corrected. Oopsies! Yes, admins are humans too, and technology can be unforgiving sometimes. Nonetheless, there is definitely a general consensus that The Lounge needs some changes. What those changes look like, how they are to be carried out, and whose role will be what, are back on the drawing board.

I believe that the best way forward is to do thorough consultation, along with openness and transparency. The accusation that has been made - that the forum management is secretly trying to get rid of The Lounge - is not true. The only thing we want is to make Bluelight a better place and more inclusive of everyone. The Lounge has a long tradition and we don't want it gone, we want it to be more integrated with the rest of the community forum. Based on the backlash about hiding The Lounge, it seems like a lot of people still feel it needs to be visible, which means that there is a clear precedent here and desire to find a solution. Ironically, my premature action has set a lot of dialogue into motion, more than we've had in months, so it's my hope that we can take this conversation forward in a positive way.

I hope that eventually the detractors come to realize that we have the highest good of the forum in mind and we volunteer our time to make sure Bluelight continues to evolve in positive directions that are of service to all.

This thread is going to be closed now, mostly because the original announcement no longer applies, but also because we need to give staff time to regroup and come up with a plan.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful 2015 and that it treats you kindly. May there be peace between you and yours, and me and mine. Cheers!

i'm happy to answer any questions.

there's a difference between requiring bluelighters to register to participate in the lounge and the lounge being invisible to greenlighters and unregistered members but they're both part of a larger discussion.

maybe posting sarcastic jabs in the mishmash, off-topic gibberings thread in eadd maybe isn't the most effective way to catalyze change in the lounge?

Ok. I accept that. FWIW i dont have a reddit account nor do i know who spikedust is or their motivations. I just wanted that matter clarified out in the open.

Having the lounge private from public viewing has stopped access to it by banned fuckwads such as fucko who is not named. But fucko can still be frd stuff from there by her non banned fucko friend. That fucko didnt obsess over lounge tho and if she was unable to read eadd then she would disappear a lot quicker.

Having said that, making eadd private like the lounge just because of one freak is not beneficial for encouraging new members.

I dont know if making the lounge public again would help or not but making it open to greenlighters again might help things . Everyone does get hazed a bit. I know I did. I still do. Trolling alts can be banned with a simple ip check.
