Thanks a lot, been reading through some of these posts, some of these are really good posts, some of them are getting a little off topic here. Anyway, I HATE eating straight GABA as 1 of the posters just mentioned above, it causes more anxiety, gives me shortness of breath and a tingling feeling all over my face for a good half hour or so, so I'm saying to hell with that. Now my problem is, lately I've been having severe anxiety ever since I quit taking Paxil 20mg/day for about 4-5months. It's like a constant generalized anxiety that lasts 24/7 (tightness in the chest, butterflies in the stomache, loss of appetite, OCD, increased heart rate, out of breath a lot faster). None of these symptoms occured while I was on Paxil, and before paxil, some of them did, but not near as bad as they do after taking Paxil and then coming off of it. The other thing is, my GHB usage in the past 2 months has NOT been that high at all, I even took about a good 3-4 week break in between, and I just don't understand why benzo's HARDLY affect my anxiety at all, they hardly take it down a notch, not even Xanax at high doses.
- I just went back to my doctor on Thursday, I asked him if I could try Cipralex (Escitalopram) as an antidepressant instead of that paxil shit, because paxil turned me into a maniac. He told me Cipralex was a much cleaner drug, but didn't acto n as many serotongenic receptors in the brain. Today was day 3 on Cipralex at only 5mg dose (starting out low) and I don't feel any different yet, other than maybe an increase in anxiety. Now before I started this, I couldn't even sleep without taking 1 or 2 Zopiclones, or some GHB before bed, and when I quit Paxil I was taking moderate doses of GHB, maybe 2-3 times a day if that, only for about a week.
- Now I've hardly ever used benzo's in the past, matter a fact the very first benzo I took in my life was at the end of January of this year, and that was a 10mg valium. Then I got prescribed to 0.5mg Sublingual Ativans after I went through some liquid GHB/GBL withdrawal from daily usage for a few weeks, and I'd have to take like 2.5mg-3mg Ativan to even get any relief of Ativan. I hardly used the Ativan after that though, and would take 2-3 week breaks in between uses and they were only 0.5mg . Then I got about 50 2mg Clonazepams which I shared with my brother, and dad, and I NEVER used them on a daily basis, I would mainly just use them and combine them with Alcohol like take 2-4mg Clonazepam a day with a 6 pack or whatever, but that would be with 1-2 week breaks in between, even more. Now just recently, I had been using Zopiclone for sleep off an on, and GHB off an on, until I got my prescription for Xanax last Thursday (Sept.1st) I'm on my third day Cipralex at 5mg, and I've been taking about 1.5mg Xanax at night, and I still hardly get much relief from that. I don't know why my benzo tolerance is so high, because I thought Xanax was supposed to be the "crack" of benzo's. So far, I've tryed Xanax, Clonazepam, and Valium (only 10mg Valium once) and none of them have really affected me much at all unless I drink with them. Even for anxiety I don't find them much help, the only thing that takes away my anxiety completely for a few hours is about 2-3grams GHB dosage.
- Now I'm praying not to become dependent on Xanax, tonight is day 4 on the first time on Xanax, and I took my use down to 1.25mg. If I don't take a benzo, or zopiclone, I have a pressure in my chest, increased anxiety, increased heart rate/blood pressure, and butterflies in my stomach, and I find it VERY hard to sleep.
- BTW like I said before, this ALL started a few days after my last 5mg dose of Paxil tapering. All my ANXIETY returned. When I was on paxil, I didn't have to depend on a benzo for anxiety relief or anything. I'm hoping the Cipralex (Lexapro) will kick in and do the same. But can anyone give me an insight as to why my benzo tolerance is shot through the roof when I've hardly used benzo's? Well, maybe not shot through the roof, but pretty high for a person who's never tryed Xanax before, and just started using Benzo's 6 months ago, and not daily, with 3 week breaks in between dosages? BTW, my dad was an Alcoholic before I was born as well, but my mother NEVER drinks, and has never even been drunk, and never drank before I was born or nothing.
If anyone could shed some light, it would be greatly appreciated. I hope it just my serotonin thats messed up and I can get back on track with the Cipralex because I pray to god - I just don't want to become dependent on Xanax or any benzo for that matter.
Sorry for the long post, and anyone that replies to this, I owe you one.
