Insomniacs out there? what do you take?

lets say you had a clean day, no opiates no benzos no stims no nothing.
And you cant sleep, and you have to wake up early to go to work
what would you take and why?

Hard work seems to have cured that problem for me ... took a few months to acclimatize well more than a few but hey ... :D

I'd probably agree with edarrin. If you do to much of of those benzos/sleeping pills addiction and tolerance is a certainty and if you stop you'll probably have a rebound effect.
Seroquel is good the only thing is i've read over time this can be addictive too and depending on the dosage can possibly cause significant next day drowsiness, plus possible weight gain.
Sometimes 50 mg of benedryl will do the trick but can have drowsy hangover again.
Have you tried melatonin, valerian root or other herbal stuff.
It might be good if you varied the stuff you take to avoid addiction and tolerance.

I use 700mg of Serequel. (I have a tolerance, I'm aware any of you taking that would make you sleep for a week.)

I haven't had anything work for me. My Restless Leg Syndrome is so severe that I have really bad insomnia. I take heroin to help with my insomnia, as it temporarily 'cures' my RLS.

Most, if not all, of the sleeping medications I've tried did not address my RLS, so I still wasn't able to sleep. I can be dead tired, but if my RLS is still acting up, I can't sleep. It prevents me from sitting in bed and going to sleep.

i just took 100mg of seroquel for my first time and have felt nothing but RLS. i have 200mgleft...

I'm prescribed Remeron for sleep. It works fine and I'm not groggy in the morning.
I take generic Mirtazapine as well for my insomnia, half a 15 mg tablet each night, together with generic 1mg Risperidon, and they really work wonderfully well. Mirtazapine on itself is already pretty sedating, but not enough to put me out, but together with 1mg Risperidon, it does. Really effective sleep aid combo :) And much better than the Rohypnol and Dormicum I used for some period up untill a few months ago. They both caused me a nasty physical addiction together, and I had to up the dose every once in a short while, the Dormicum even once in a few days. Long term benzo use for insomnia clearly does NOT work ...

You're risking getting tardive dyskinesia.<3

i developed tardive dyskinesia while on seroquel.

oh and to the guy that mentioned 700mg of seroquel, that is not a good dose for someone who has no tolerance to take. With a benzo the sedation can potentially be lethal.

Nope :)

Thankfully it went away as I was stopped on the medication. Funny enough I can compare it to the involuntary muscular (tongue and mouth) contortions that arise when under the influence of K.

What is one of the best *Non Habit* forming Sleep Aid's? (other than benadryl)
i suppose to clarify - prescribed ones. Im on suboxone maintenaince so my doc wouldnt script me one thats rabusable. ne good names?

Have you ever put your tongue out and looked in the mirror to see if it moves by itself? Mind does.:p Well if it does (I'm saying this to everyone) see your doctor now and stop the med. ASAP. Antidepressants can cause extrapyramidal symptoms too - I've never taken antipsychotics.
<3 Take care everyone.

Take four shots of vodka followed by a beer then go to bed in an hour and have a good sleep.

anyone ever heard of lemon balm? supposed to be used for stress, anxiety, and insomnia control. new i guess...

Yes, its an ingredient in one of the sleeping formulas I tried with passion flower and valerian. It didn't work for me.

supposely there's a product which contains 300mg of lemon balm and a certain amount of mg of L-theanine i believe?

the guy who posted above said he took mirtazapine with the anti-pyschotic risperidone,Is it safe to take a 25mg seroquel with a 15mg mirtazipine tab??

Yes, 15mg Mirtazapine is still a pretty low dose, it's the lowest strength tablets available. I don't know much about the doses of Seroquel used, but because the dose of Mirtazapine is pretty low, it would be safe to mix anyway. I never had any problems with my combo either, and I even had 13 Librium on top of that when I began my benzo tapering schedule. Anti-psychotics, especially the newer ones, cause barely any to no respiratory depression, unless they're taken in high doses(with the intention of suicide for example).
