Opioids Injection pain without missing

Hi all long long time reader first time poster, but i'm having a weird experience that i cannot find the answer to. I regularly inject OC's (and yes i know just how bad pills are to do this but good luck finding H where i live) at about a rate of 12 pills throughout the course of one week then broke the next week, i get paid every other week kinda nice cause withdrawals stay in check kinda bad cause i'm broke one week.

So anyways lately i've been getting an extreme pain for about 2 inches from the injection point down. This doesn't happen every once in a while and i know for a fact after this happening about 20-30 times that this is not from missing as trust me like everyone else i've missed my fair share of times but hardly ever as of late.

My first thought was that the veins i was using were too small as i use my hands most of the time so i tried using my forarm, elbow, and also my bicep (i'm one of the lucky ones with extremely visible and plentiful surface veins from working out. So please if you know what causes this and if i need to switch to even more places to spread it out more often cause i can just tell you now i know i have a problem i would like to quit but i have no real desire to do so. Anyways i appreciate the help in advance thank you much.

P.S. > Probably should've stated this but the pain is an extremely bad burning sensation in the vein once it was so bad i even had to switch veins a quarter of the way in.

I use a micron filter when i do them and no the name brand OC's do not gel up whatsoever. The amount i do at a time doesn't seem to make a difference cause it's happened on as little as an eighty or as much as two and a half. Think it's happened with a forty before but i don't remember i don't usually do less then an eight.

Off subject but i have a crazy tolerance for doing them less often then i don't as i usually splurge and blow about $1000 is about four days and i get them for very cheap as my best friend slings and lets me throw in with him to get mine for his price when he's grabbing 100s at a time. Just find it odd as when i first started injecting about five months ago a four felt amazing but after two times injecting even an eight wasn't spectacular anymore and i quickly jumped up to doing a whole one with the occasional two till now where it's pretty much at least two every time.

I don't get sick really just uncomfortable and still functional at a high end country club have diahrhea for a couple days and just feel uncomfortable so help with tolerance would be great cause i don't understand mine at all just seems someone who goes on a three to four day bender then is clean for ten to eleven days should have a much lower tolerance then i do. Anyways thanks again really need an answer to this pain question just the tolerance issue would be a bonus heh.

Edit- Sorry i guess i should add ten to twelve is low when i think of it it's probably 15-20 over a three to five day period then maybe one to two in between just depending how many times i bartend rather then server (get teh cash as a bartender servers tend to get everything in service charge and add-ons hard to explain but basically they have accounts to the club so it's similiar to every ticket being paid with a credit card if you've served tables before.

Congratulations on micron filtering!

It is weird it is burning w/o missing. That puzzles me. What gauge are you using?

It could be that you are just hitting a nerve, it can be a similar sensation at times.

wrist and back of hand shots can hurt, as there are lots of nerve endings there, but you'd feel that as soon as you stuck it in. does it hurt when you do it other places, or just your wrist?

it could be that you pushed through or fell out of the vein after registering. when it starts to burn, re-register to make sure you're still in. I shoot my morphine pills, and I normally do my wrist now that my arms are getting scar tissue (I can be in the vein, and won't know it because it won't register, crazy, huh?) and even if I'm in the vein, after the shot, my wrists will hurt for the remainder of the day or something.

but my best advice is to re-register when it starts to burn.

oh, and going on a 3-4 day bender and then 10 days off will still result in a tolerance, just letting you know.

I don't know what it is apparently no one does lol... I use 29 to 30 gauge needs usually and trust me my first reaction when it happens is to keep re registering but it's a much more intense and completely different pain then missing a shot. Has happened in my hands on smaller veins mainly but has also occurred in the main elbow vein. Trust me i've missed my fair share of shots and it's just not that and i can guarantee it as it's nothing similar. There's no aching afterwards and like i said i will literally register five and six times during the shot thinking that myself but it's much more intense of a pain then missing and is completely gone once i stop injecting so i don't know.

I have a lot of friends and people i know that do this and have been doing it much longer then I as i've only been doing it about a year and so far noone has had anything similar my best guess is the veins under too much pressure and is possibly getting ready to blow up which is weird also as 95% of the time i don't even have to use a turnaquet except for when i wake up out of bed and do something as that's the only time i don't have many visible veins.

*Edit* I should probably add that this occurs mainly with the veins i use frequently as in 2-3 times a week or more veins. I'll also throw in when i cook them i let it bubble for a split second then stop and i shave down all my pills. I'm very very quick at getting the shot from spoon to vein even with how i filter so my best guess it's from either heat, pressure, or simply the vein being used to much and being irritable, but i can't believe that on this whole site i'm the only one that's experienced this type of pain. The good thing is though it seems like this isn't a serious medical issue as my experience with this site tells me Capt. H. wouldv'e known about it and been all over it heh.

Anyways, if anyone has any ideas outside of heat and pressure or happens to work in the medical field and does know of a condition that could cause this would be much appreciated. I know someone on this site has to have some sort of idea what causes this! One last thing though before someone says it's a miss yet again i should say that the pain follows down the vein for approximatly three inches as this just happened to me again just compared to the pain at the site of injection to a few centimeters down it is almost unnoticable.

I'd never seen anyone IV in person and I have that genetic deal where almost every time the doc would draw blood I'd faint.

But I really wanted to experience everything that midazolam had to offer: Most I could snort was 45mg at once which burt like bleach and didn't give much of a rush, plus despite potentiators the high was short-lived. So, glass of grapefruit juice in hand (at first I'd get dizzy, near fainting), I taught myself- oddly, taught myself to do it in my forearms 8o

IDK why... as forearm veins are both shallow (right near the surface) and relatively thin so harder to hit, plus they seem "hard" so need more pressure... and then 24 hours later, I would have bruises, not from missing either.

Other ppl have the same experience with forearms or was I doing something wrong? Tips?

Either way I read some hard reduction literature, it was like "duh," yea shoot it in one the two big veins you have in the crook of each elbow (and lots more a bit hidden ;) ).

I'm lucky in that I have a ton of visible veins, hell I don't normally use a tourniquet I simply lift a 20 pound weight 15 times (I use tourniquets for those deep down veins when I need to rotate).

now that my arms are getting scar tissue (I can be in the vein, and won't know it because it won't register, crazy, huh?)

Fuck, I hear you :(

I now really try to take good care of my veins... because in a SINGLE 3-4 day binge I fucked up the large outer vein on each of my arms bad. I was shooting 150mg midazolam in a 10ml syringe and was slamming it FAST- that pressure isn't good either. And I was high/semi-conscious the whole time, so I'd do an injection with a big ass 10ml rig with the damn thing just wiggling around in my vein.

There still is some scar tissue, however after leaving them alone for several months and lifting light weights (I don't do it to be 'buff,' just light dumbells to help keep my veins in shape).

So yeah TokinDerek, I've had the exact same thing happen again and again and again- it's kinda like each of those two large, easy to hit veins are now multiple small veins. Regardless, I can hit- and I KNOW I've hit b/c it feels exactly like it should, penetrate skin, right into vein, you know what I mean- yet I CANNOT get it to register. FTW? I'll try several times, then to err on the side of safety I pull the needle out- only to see blood gushing forth as I was clearly in a vein! :X A few times I've shot there, not been able to get it to register, yet slowly pushed the plunger anyway- I would stop if there were any pain- but there's not, and when I pull it out got the same blood as when hit a vein (plus of course the immediate effect of the drug! =D)

I've always read in harm reduction literature that your hands are one of the LAST places you want to shoot, unless you're truly out of options (zero visible veins). Is this true of the OP? I ask b/c I was talking to a buddy of mine (no one knows I IV, I don't do it around others) and he tells me he did IV for the first time with a bunch of friends- had them do it for him as he didn't know how, however told me they had IR morphine tabs, boiling water (better than toilet water), and were shooting in their hands! (Also, he didn't mention how they were filtering the pills 8o). I'm just wondering if this is a popular way to "start out" or something, kinda like skin popping (although never did that either)?

I somehow doubt that despite x number of years of experience anyone becomes 100% accurate 100% of the time.

I was having a REALLY FUN time last night, IV'ing (in the same 3ml rig): 1) name brand pentazocine (these were made to IV, 1/4th the size of the sample ones I received); 2) Suboxone (I started a thread on the synergy/whatever of bupe and pent- point is pent not only works while on bupe maintenance, they work better together IMO; and 3) Ritalin! (methylphenidate).

I was FUCKED UP. Granted, this was stupid and I'd advise against it as drug combos can be dangerous, particularly with barbs! 8o Nevertheless, I'd been taking 100-150mg phenobarbital for the last couple nights- I can take 300mg+ and feel calm, add tramadol which pheno induces (plus pheno is an anticonvulsant) and in the past (not recommended!) I've taken 800mg tram rather than the max of 400mg- was not a "jittery high" at all, instead the pheno turned a nonscheduled med into a FULL mu agonist, and potent one at that. Point being I can take large amounts of pheno at once and feel great, but then sleep the next two days, it has a 5 DAY HALF-LIFE so better IMO to take 100mg or so and let it build up.

I also made the mistake of drinking alcohol too (a few shots, but still)- kids, here's a "what NOT to do manual on drug use." So I've been drinking, I'm high on pheno and tram, and I'm REALLY high on pent, bupe, and MPH. Both MPH and pent give a really nice rush, I had to take 10mg lorazepam after the first shot just to 'calm down a bit' it was so intense

Anyway, pent has hallucinogenic properties, even more so as the dose gets higher. For the fist hour or so, it's pure euphoria, feels like a full mu agonist, when that wore off did another shot. Part of reason pent +bupe is a good combo is bupe blocked the hallucinogentic effects in my first shot (first time I shot pent did same amount but had been 12 hours since my last Sub dose, first euphoria for 30 mins then straight to hallucinations- see original thread here: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=512005

Go to do 2nd shot- 3ml rig with 27G .5"- alcohol, phenobarbital, tramadol, Suboxonei in sts... hallucinations were pronounced, in fact that was last night... just woke up, droll on keyboard buy hell, as least I got some sleep this time :\

^^ I'm not sure what any of that had to do with the OP, but it was a somewhat entertaining read.

Anyway, I was thinking the whole time I was reading down to what EveryStar said, "I wonder if he hit an artery..." I have never hit an artery personally, but the one time a friend of mine did, he described it at "pins and needles" or "1000 needles" for days. He didn't jerk the rig out of his arm and throw it across the room screaming like people say if feels when they hit an artery, yet he definitely did.

Something to think about.

You sure you didn't hit an artery?
Dude, i injected H into my arteries, and remember that your blood pumps into the other direction than in your veins.
Shooting in an arterie will result in very swollen fingers and thumb, and will not do any good.:(

btw hitting an artery didn't hurt that bad, except for my thumb...
But it took a s#itload of time to stop the bleeding.
Mind you i have a medical degree and have practiced my needle skills on many patients...

I use 29 to 30 gauge needs usually
I would get some 31's for when you are going to use wrist/hand veins (and other small veins in general).

*Edit* I should probably add that this occurs mainly with the veins i use frequently as in 2-3 times a week or more veins. I'll also throw in when i cook them i let it bubble for a split second then stop and i shave down all my pills. There's no need to heat pills; if the water didn't cool down enough this might have caused the problem.

i belive its the pill particalsbacking up in your vain.
try registering, and than pop the tuniquit, than injecting, you migh still feel a little, but thats what i do now
i had the same problem and that worked
