Can anybody help me with this? Sorry to double post but I'm concerned.

My arm still hurts, mostly in the area where I missed but my wrist is starting to hurt as well. Also, the area is red and I can feel a lump. Does this mean it's infected? Should I seek medical attention or is this something that will go away on its own?

I'm putting a hot compress on it as we speak, but I'm getting more nervous as this doesn't go away. . .

In general - signs of infection include - redness, swelling, tenderness/pain, heat. So yes could well be infected. Pain in wrist doesn't really make sense - unless you hit a nerve and/or an artery.

In any case - seek medical attention!! It sounds like it's getting worse, not better. Get onto it now and you may have to swallow a few antibiotics. Leave it for longer and more aggressive attention may be required....

^+1 on that. I hope you've already made your way to the doctor. I know it sucks to think you'll have to explain what happened but it's better than becoming deathly sick.

edit: Just realized that was over a week ago. Let us know if it got better or if you went to the hospital.

i got ripped the other night shootin up n i ended up in the er. now i cant move my wrist at all and my thumb is tingly n almost numb. did i damage something? will it ever get better? PLEASE HELP

Why don't you just go back to the ER if you are still having problems, especially, if you can't move your wrist and your thumb is tingling and / or numb?

You need to find out what's wrong while there still may be time to help prevent a permanent injury / handicap.

Jesus that is fucking wrong, kinda makes me want to never use a needle again. it says he was injecting some antidepressant though that causes that. it also looks kind of fake, if it isn't that is sooo fucked up though.

OMG agreed. looks almost too horrendous and hes just sitting there cuz it doesn't hurt at all......

thats the thing...the er just said it was nerve damage like it was no biggie n sent me home. that hospital sucks i dont trust them. it feels like it feels like its getting worse its really scarey.

i've had pain on the inside of my elbow since saturday when i shot up h. its like the pain from when i miss, except i didn't miss. there are no visual signs that anything is wrong, can't even see a track mark, no redness, black/blue, not hot, etc... it looks fine... but its been hurting for 4 days... any idea what this could be? if i touch it in the location, it hurts. also, if i go above it, n touch parts of my bicep, it hurts a little. the pain has gotten slightly better over the past few days.

i'm wondering if anybody knows what this could be? i'll go to the hospital but is there any way of my parents not knowing what i went for? im 21 but still live with my mom, and my life with my parents knowing ive even done H once is probably worse than my life without an arm ... help is so greatly appreciated

It's impossible to say exactly what the problem is. If it feels like it's getting better, maybe it is. Keep monitoring and get some medical attention if it gets worse again, or if it doesn't go away completely soon.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the responses, albeit they were a week or so late Anyways, I kept and eye on the area, and on the second day I was pretty sure I'd need to go to the doctor. I applied a hot compress to it for the pain (really helped) and it was splotchy red and maybe a little swollen. After the second or third day though the pain went away, I haven't had any negative side effects from it since. Perhaps if there was an infection my body took care of it on it's own? Either way that spot is now fine, but I was very panicked because I've never had that happen before. If there would have been any pain or redness passed day three I would have gone to the ER or clinic. Maybe because I only missed a very small amount (~10 units) that was better than missing a whole 100 units.

I must admit that it was very stupid of me to do what I did - I should have thought it through. But I was feeling sick and just didn't want to deal with it, and look what happened. I'm very thankful I didn't get sick or worse, but I've learned my lesson. No IV pills without micron filtering and the proper gear. Just goes to show what happens when you get desperate.

SO Ive been iving my bupe for a while now..
Never had any problems.. never missed.. always filtered 2-3 times.... first time thru a cig filter, then thru cottons.
did same this AM, no problem..
Around 330 this afternoon my ring finger starts hurting, and feels a little odd..
slight pins and needles sensation( very slight) ...
I work construction so there is a very good chance just a cramp or something...
It did feel like there was presure building in my finger..
The pain disappeared within an hr, now it just feels a little swollen when i make a fist. Def improving.
Its tough to notice if there is a slight redness around the joint in my finger.
Im freaking out because Ive seen the reports, I never miss tho and cant afford the pills without the added bio -availabilty... Its no excuse , I kno..
But ATM, what should I do? Its only been a couple hrs, but I dont want to wake up with my hand totally swollen... My friends say im overreacting.
Has anybody ever experienced this before? Even if i went to ER, Im sure theyd just send me home until it really became noticably swollen, right?
Im really scared honestly.... any advice or oppinions on if this is even related to the bupe?
I have good veins and never have a problem finding them... The only other symtom is my pinky fingure feels a little colder then my others- but thats probably in my head...
Id love to hear from somebody who felt this and woke up the next day and it was gone? anyone? thanks

You are a construction worker, so I don't think this has anything to do with IVing buprenorphine.

If you missed a shot, it would hurt. If you hit an artery, it would hurt a lot more.

I understand your reasons for doing what you do, so I'm not going to dissuade you, but I do think you should at least look into micron filtering.

I was trying to clean coagulated blood out of a needle, and here's what happened. I tried squeezing it out, and the blood leaked into the applicator tip. Still clogged. I tried backloading isopropanol into the syringe, and that didn't work. I emptied it out and tried just pushing through 3-5 units. Well, when I did that, I applied so much pressure that the needle tip and applicator (the thing that holds the needle onto the syringe) went flying off and ricochet off the wall.

So, if you are trying to clean out coagulated blood out of a needle, please be careful.

if you let the tip sit in hot water and have hot water in the rig it should eventually soften the blood in there. i've cleaned a few rigs out in my day, and this has always seemed to work for me.

You could try to go to an Urgent Care. If you have to try more than one place to get treatment, you might as well if you aren't getting better.

I've been treated like shit at a hospital before, too. I know how it feels. You know what I mean. Why would I be at the hospital if I didn't think something was wrong? It was like I was wasting their time or something.

Hi august - just want to point out that regular bupe injecting without micron filtering is bound to cause problems at some point. Multiple cotton filtering isn't good enough - there will still be plenty of particles sub 50 micron that will still be in your mix. Are you injecting subutex/suboxone (ie - sublingual tablet)? These tabs have maize starch as one of the main fillers - which is also used to make gravy. That stuff will just be building up in your veins - narrowing them, and eventually causing them to collapse. The resultant reduction in venous flow will cause swelling in your fingers/hands (assuming you are injecting somewhere along your arm). This is really common and may be what is happening to you. If you continue injecting bupe without micron filtering (a 0.45 micron filter would be good for your purposes), you can expect this to get worse. Also - those insoluble particles can cause mischief elsewhere in your body. They can accumulate in your lungs - leading to granulomas and serious chest infections. They will scar the valves in your heart - leading to increased risk of endocarditis. They can lodge in your eyes, kidneys and other organs too..

Health problems from IV use?

About two weeks ago, had my guy who has been supplying my opiate regimen shoot me up with 30mg of oxycodone about two weeks ago and I'm concerned about the possible health reprocussions from this incident..

Facts: I have not had any adverse problems health wise, but the dealer himself I'm concerned about.. The insulin syringe was still in an incasing, and he went on about how this was a BRAND-NEW syringe, but as I'm not sure as to what the new syringe casing/packing would look like as this was my first and only IV use. He used a separate syringe, NEVER shared the syringe and he gave it to me once the session was over. He's said multiple times that he's clean of diseases, but I know for a fact he has not been tested.. (ridiculous I know..) I was instantly disgusted with myself and have since had a huge amount of guilt now resulting in me planning on getting a full STD test tomorrow if I can get into my local health clinic, but figured I would post here as my first way of taking care of this problem.. All helpful information would be greatly appreciated on this issue. I'm a25 yr old cancer survivor with otherwise great health as the cancer has been in remission for close to 18 months..
