Would it be safe to use a rig that's been used once months ago, but after it was used was cleaned out (just with water) and has been capped since then?

I've done it before - but I spent a good amount of time rinsing it wit beach and COLD water.

Still not great though - you are taking an elevated risk of a dirty hit.

BTW - I haven't touched drugs in almost 3 weeks! FUCK!

My meth gives me a lot of "relaxation" these days for some reason. What is ths? I don't get it - an hour after I take my dose I feel just like I've shot up 2 bags...... its really nice...

And then if ever I use, I don't get very high from it - I have to do like 5 bags to get a nod. I tried switching supply a couple times, but its still the same.

Still getting higher from not doing anything for a couple days, then glugging my (methadone) dose.

At least my family talk to me when I'm on meth...

dude, once in a moment of desperation I used a needle that was a fucking year old. I cleaned it out though with bleach and water. It can be done but you got to be real careful, and it's not really worth the freak out.

808, I know what you mean about the done. I used to be on 110 mg, and whenever I shot dope, I didn't get high at all. I would feel the rush, and then it would be gone. the receptors are just too saturated with methadone.

lately I've been rotating along my forearms, wrist, and hands in an effort to practice safer injecting and vein preservation. This means that I inevitably have to hit rolling veins, which I once felt was impossible. I've developed a technique though which allows me to almost always register. For the vein that's on the side of my wrist, that kind of winds down from my middle finger and sort of along my thumb, I push the needle in a little before or after the wrist joint. Sometimes If I just do this and am clenching my hand in a very tight way, I can hit this vein without it rolling. However, usually it will roll, so what I do is keep pushing the needle forward into my wrist (by now, the entire length of the needle is in the skin), If I push it maybe a few centimeters more, I will hit the vein, and proceed to shoot. (btw, I'm injecting at an incredibly shallow angle, the barrel of the syringe usually is only 1/4 inch above my arm/hand.
I've been doing this technique for close to a week and a half, and everything is fine so far, and it works really perfectly, In fact, I havn't missed a shot in a long time now. I was wondering though if this is a safe way to hit these kinds of veins, or if it can be damaging, as there is more stress on the injection site?

A friend thinks she hit an artery, what should I tell her?

I got a frantic text from a friend just now that said she hit an artery last night and her hand is still humongous. I have never hit an artery and have no experience with this. I googled and read some older threads and they all mentioned that the swelling should go down within an hour, and that as long as it isn't a regular occurrence you should be fine. It has been 14 hours since this happened and her swelling is not going down. She is panicked and wants to know if she should go to the ER... help?

I've hit arteries before and I was always OK (after the swelling and burning).. however there's no harm in going to get it checked out. If these problems persist for another 8-12 hours she might want to go to the ER. But, in my experience, symptoms will go away and she'll be OK.

If your friend's hand is still inflamed/in pain, take her to the ER, or tell her to get herself there.

Hitting an artery is a very dangerous injection complication. You don't want to sit around and "see" if it gets better, you want to get help immediately.

PS "Advice" of "as long as it's not a regular occurrence..." isn't good advice at all. You could avoid going to the ER and everything "could" be OK, but what if it doesn't turn out OK and instead, you have to be an amputee for the rest of your life?

I don't know.

Like I've said in another thread - the one time I actually bothered to go to the ER after I shot into an artery - I was treated like I was just wasting their time.

Just 'cos you hit an artery doesn't mean you are about to lose a limb.

If that was true, there would be literally nothing left of me.

If I hit into an artery, an something nasty/weird happened - then yeah, I would go - but the overwhelming majority of the time you are OK.

*BTW - where the fuck did my last post go??! - EDIT FOUND IT.

"Better safe than sorry" always applies when things like this happen. So tell yer friend to get herself to the ER and get checked out.
Sure, maybe she'll get treated a bit shit from the nurses et al. but that's better than really bad shit going down :\

yeah i tell you what, back before i knew what i was doing , i used to try to shoot in my feet all the time, it never turned out well. It always looked like I was in a vein, but it never registered blood, and I always ended up muscling it if I pushed the shot. I recommend either the veins in the bend in your arms or the one thats slightly to the left of that on the side of your arm, good luck

About a week ago I had 2 shots of dillies. I didn't miss either shot yet for some reason my fingers hurt. A little bit of pain and some tightness. It's been on and off since last thursday I think. I don't IV regularily anymore and I was taking arthotec twice a day and switched to naproxen since I ran out of arthotec.

Any ideas what could've happened?

Possible Manufacturer's Error?

I decided to post this in this thread, even though this is not about an injection complication. I made my shot and that isn't the problem.

The problem is that the needle leaked blood while I was injecting. Not like, some blood is in the plastic tip (before the needle), because that happens quite regularly with the needles I use.

What happened was while I was injecting (a mere 5 units + whatever blood I pulled back which wasn't much), some blood leaked into the plastic tip and a drop appeared outside of the plastic tip.

This is seemingly impossible (unless my syringe had a hole/crack in it that went all the way up, right beside the base of the needle).

I only injected once, and it went in successfully. Blood did not come out of the site until I pulled the needle out. And, even though I do use 5/16" tips, I only needed the first 1 or 2 sixteenths of an inch to get my shot in.

Someone else witnessed this as well, so it's quite weird indeed! It is normal for blood to stick to the tip of your syringe if you inject a few times, unsuccessfully, and you don't clean up the blood at the old/unsuccessful sites. But that wasn't the case here!

So, this makes me think...that this is a defective product and I need monetary reimbursement.

However, the issue that arises is that how am I going to return this to the manufacturer, and how am I to explain it? I always check that I am in the muscle (since the manufacturer of needles assume people actually use it as an insulin delivery system ;)) but I wasn't, and before I pulled the needle out, blood leaked out of the tip?

That's essentially what happened, I don't see how the shot even stayed in the syringe if there was a crack that was that compromising. I wasn't even done pushing the plunger in before the lbood appeared on the outside.

I've shot thousands of times and this has never happened to me before, anyone have any ideas about what caused this? My needles stay locked up, so our adorable cats could not have chewed through the plastic applicator tip.

Anyways I have a picture here, it's not that clear, but you can see blood on the outside.

Well with good quality heroin, it's better than missing a shot of pills obviously.

Once I banged six bags of great smack and missed, my arm swole up terribly and I couldnt fucking hardly use it for a week and a half, it hurt like hell but did go away on its own, I still wonder what you would call that. And whats in morphine that makes that burning feeling when you shoot it?

It was (most likely) either a subcutaneous injection, or an abscess (or sterile abscess).

Nothing is "in" morphine that causes the burning sensation, it's just called a histamine reaction.

Sometimes an acidic or basic pH can also cause a burning sensation upon injection but I doubt this is the case here.

Quick question, would i be better off injecting into my left arm (i'm right handed) or my right, as my right has much bigger/more prominent veins. But i'm much less steady with my left hand. Not actually planning to inject, just been wondering for a while.

I'm right handed, but boot in my right arm for the same reason you stated. I don't find it anymore difficult then shooting in my left arm.

Damn thats crazy I did not realize how much one inection blunted the needle, and six shots that needle looked like a torture device, damn no wonder I have some bad scars on me as I used the same needle usually at least 2 or 3 times before getting a new one...whoa and I have been stuck out in a place where i had only 2 new needles and a lotta coke I was shooting at the time and I imagine I used those needles 20 times or more each..damn those pictures are really something that needs to be posted on billboards everywhere, but the government does not give a damn about peoples veins...anyway fucking crazy man..
