Scared About post injection pain HELP!!

I had been iv'ing Heroin recently pretty often, most often in the crook of my arm.

I am a two days off dope...and my arms have a funny tingling sensation, kinda like my arm is falling asleep every now n then.

I asked a long time IV'er and she said I had probably hit a tendon by going too deep or poking around and that it should go away in under a week. I kinda trust her, since she has had a shitload of IV experience and really knows her needle.

Anyways, like I said, it been 2 days since I shot up and my arms are kinda tingling/feeling wierd.

What advice can you give? did I hit a tendon? Or a nerve?

Note: When should I seek medical attention? I will def will go to the ER if I have to, but I have no idea how to deal with the situation of me being an IV heroin user going into the ER saying my arms feel tingly/wierd. I'm 100/ positive this is not from the WD, which is relativley minor. maybe someone cud give me advice on admitting i'm a junkie iv'er (or was)

do artery veins pulsate? while normal veins dont?

Arteries have a pulse, while veins do not.

Veins will have dark, thick red blood.

Arteries tend to have frothy, very very light-red blood. The pressure of your heart beat can make the plunger shoot back with blood if you hit an artery, even if you haven't pulled back the plunger yet.

Veins tend to be closer to the skin, and try to hit closest to the heart and furthest away from the extremities. You don't want to ever have to use your hands/wrists/feet for IVing.

If you're WDing from heroin, you might feel that tingling sensation in your arms just because of the WD. I got a similar sensation when kicking a few times.

However, if you can feel where it is with your finger (like, you can touch it and it hurts more when you do so) then it's probably just a nerve you hit.

has this feeling/sensation happened to anyone else? I;m freaking and might just go to the er asap...not sure Either way it is bad luck that I feel it in both arms

my arm hurts at the inner elbow area. probably been about 4 days..pain is lessening each day by a little though. the first day felt like there was a pin stuck at one spot making it hurt everytime I bend my arm and such. Well the pain like I said is lessening, If worsen I know ill reffer to a doc. but I was wondering what coupld of happen. there is no redness, and no bumps in the site

im paranoid that its a missed shot from a while back. although its not red...there is a small bumb feeling under the skin...

help with ugly bruise form IV

i shot in my forearm and three days later i notice there is a big oval shaped bruise there. its yellow/blue. it doesnt hurt really at all but its kind of freaking me out. i assume its becaause i missed the shot. what should i do? is there anything i cn do to make it go away faster?

Hi,

I can't promise you the correct answer, and I would advise you to see a doctor if you are worried. W/o seeing your bruise nobody can give you any better advice than that.

I've gotten bruises after I.Ving as well. That was when I used to clean the shot afterwards with an alcohol swab. I suspect that you may have done that. You should clean the injection area with alchohol before the shot, not after.

There are lot's of creams that you can buy to make bruises go away.

On the other hand I too once asked for an online diagnosis for asking a question about bruising after I I.Ved. Some people tried to calm me down, while others told me that I was putting an unfair responsibility on people over the internet.

While I didn't appreciate at the time, I get their point.

If it doesn't hurt, and it isn't swollen, you should be fine.

Bruises are normal and will subside over time. If it's growing in size, darkening in color, starts to hurt or swell, then you might want to get medical help.

help

ive noticed a small red bump form on one of my veins....

im guessing its a very small abcess... or something

it doesnt look too bad but what should i do?

Its been about 5 days since its formed..

it kinda itches and at first glance looks like a mosquito bite

I missed a shot. injection site is a little puffy, its not red at the bump part but my arm is sorta red from the hot water i think
only hurts at injection site from probably poking around alot. does hurt around the injection site (the rest of the puffy part). i took 900mg ibuprofen and is doing hot water compression...

anyone with experience can tell me what else I should do?

it kind of looks like a rash bump..cuz its kind of wide..and ridged near the edge...if any one gets it..

arent missed shots more circular?

if it gets worse in the next couple days goto the ER, urgent care/same day clinic or your doc -- usually your city should have some county or otherwise free clinic. just be honest -- you're just insulting their intelligence if you're not and they'll respect you all the more for it.

EDIT: more importantly, what did you miss? if it was cocaine/meth tissue necrosis is a big issue (according to my doc)

the hot compress is all you can do in the short term but if the pain persists and it starts to look worse and grow go seek some medical attention ASAP. as skrewler said you should have a free clinic in your town somewhere.

I heard that the blood from a vein upon pulling the plunger back will be bright red and the blood in an artery will be brownish. My friend who has been injecting for many years has told me that. Your guide seems to say otherwise or am I missing something?
