Infected Mushroom AMAZING!!!

Definitely I got turned on to them last summer and ended up seeing them live a couple months later. For the most part I hate pretty much all electronic music but for some reason I really dig these guys.

Do they even play psy anymore?

Gaha, give me Astral Projection any day;)

+1

i saw them live and their dj set sucked (commercial isra-trance) but the liveset that followed was heaven. i felt like i was rolling despite being completely sober.

I'll be seeing them next weekend :) I also agree with alasdiar that i no longer see them as a Psytrance act.. but i can appreciate there diversity.

I goto proper Psytrance Partys anyway.. so there's no lack of good psy and psychadelics in my life :) That said i'll probably still trip to them next weekend.. but nothing compare's too a 15-20hours of good psytrance all night out in the middle of nowhere.. ;)

Acid dancing <3

Wow. You my friend seem like someone who is quite jaded with trance. In the US some incredible artists are pumping out some of the most psychedelic full on fun as hell dance music. I don't know how you can say psytrance is an epic failure, its just evolved, but anything that has hundreds of people dancing in the woods celebrating life for days on end, having psychedelic experiences around intense and interesting music, i mean... "EPIC FAIL"??? Do you just miss the goa style? Hate the "dark" psy, hate the lack of melody in alot of psy now? I would agree that goa/melodic psy is cliched and pretty much 99 percent shit, but the full on dark style stuff I've heard and seen recently has destroyed some dance floors, with some of the most intense and beautiful tribal/primal energy around.

So what music is "psychedelic" now? Are you arguing that psychedelic is some objective aspect of music that psy once had but now lost?

I just reckon most stuff post 2005 is kinda crap. Not to say there aren't some gems though.... I just overlistened and overwrote it- interestingly, I have had a break for a few months and am back enjoying it again. But still, I do think psytrance is overrated nowadays, due to the huge proliferation of artists. You will find there are many great producers around, but no one is really doing anything all that different. Darkpsy I don't mind, though I don't think its all that different to standard fullon. :\ I wouldn't call myself jaded- I just think that the music has lost its good qualitites. Far from bagging it or bitching about it, I simply don't listen to the shit stuff anymore ;) Of which 99% is IMO. I must remind you, I made this style (and still do) for several years...that kills music for you.

Of course people dancing in the woods is great; and psytrance is as good a reason as any to do so, but when I say epic fail I mean the music, not the scene. The music, as I said, just is not that good. In my opinion. It frustrates me that it is so bad at times, because the psychedelic state deserves a lot more then the tributes some of these artists pay it.

Really any music can be psychedelic. I listen to anything from trance to breakcore to industrial and metal when tripping. Just music I like generally.

Anyway, the majority of my post was about Infected Mushroom, not the psy scene...When I say epic fail- its true I think. For me, this music that was innovative and challenging has become stationary. I still like plenty of trance; generally the stuff I like when I first got into it circa 2002-2003. I respect that it is important to people, but I just do not feel it. To me, the psychedelic state is one of constant change and flux, not repetition and formula. Trance is very limiting, and that is true- whereas ttripping isn't.

I mean no disrespect- I mean, my post really wasn't about what you addressed- and I certainly do enjoy trance out in the bush- but I am very selective now, as I hate shit music.

However, don't get me started on "psy chill" :D..
