Being inconspicuous in a dream would logically require the team to act in a dream-like fashion rather than a real world fashion. They should have been adapting to the people's psyches that they were entering in order to be inconspicuous rather than just acting 'normal' because the norm inside somebody's head is defined by them, not the exterior world.

It felt like the film didn't even attempt to explore anything psychological, which is crazy given that most of it is set within people's subconscious.

If you still insist the crew had to be inconspicuous, why are the dreams and the dreamers so boring? Logically they too wouldn't behave inconspicuously in their own dream, so why aren't there any interesting scenarios depicting the inner workings of the dreamers psyche?

i agree that the dreams in this film are not freudian in the slightest. there are no displaced or condensed meanings at all, and very little wish-fulfilment content. it had none of the surrealness of dali's andalusian dog or lynch's ... well everything. i think it needed to forgo these in order for the layers to make sense on film. considering the budget/target audience of this film, i can see how this is a pragmatic compromise.
 
Yeah as I said there are a lot of semi-valid reasons given (by the characters themselves) as to why the dreams in Inception don't resemble dreams. But, for me, a film about dreams should at least attempt to explore them on cursory some level. (I'm not saying it shouldn't have been an action film or that it should have compromised any of it's commercially viable elements. It could have done both and still profited.)

Bullshit. Nolan had creative control. After four consecutive high returning flicks, they would've practically let him make anything. I guess it's possible that they might have docked a little bit of the special effects budget if they didn't think it was as commercially viable as Terminator 2, but if he had any integrity that wouldn't bother him. I'd much rather see some depth than an extra forty seconds of crumbling buildings or slow motion zero gravity Kung Fu. No matter how many computers are used to generate it, it doesn't impress me because it isn't art, it's just technological masturbation (regardless of how well it happens to go with popcorn).
 
Reasons why I didnt like this film

- The whole premise was ridiculous.

- Leonardo DiCaprio is boring.

- The dream sequences were handled with no imagianation, really who has dreams like that?.

- & Considering the amount of money he had to play with theres so many interesting things he could've done with the idea. Instead he just used it as a another device to make another standard action movie. (as has been mentioned before)

- The plot wasn't clever, it might make you clever and observant to follow it, that doesnt make the plot itself clever. Anyone can write a ridiculously complex plot thats hard to follow. Momento (which I thought was great) is an example of a complicated plot structure that works really well.

There I said it. I can understand people liking this film but all the hype over it I really dont understand at all. overall I just found it really dull tbh.

Bluelight isn't exactly an American-based site. Technically, we're the visitors here and the important ones (those who started and run bluelight in the majority) are doing us a solid by dumbing it down for us by speaking English. Thanks guys.

I hear a lot of Americans bitch about foreigners not speaking English and hardly know any Americans who know more than one language. Most foreigners I've met know at least two languages. They speak far more fluidly in English than I do in their languages. Lighten up. Take a long walk. You need to get laid. I think at this point you need to get laid so bad that it should actually be considered a medical condition.
 
It's always been an English speaking forum, regardless of where it's hosted or whatever. I'm not American.

By the way Companion, your generalizations about foreigners and Americans are inaccurate, but as you said they're based on your experiences/encounters. ''Most foreigners'' don't speak multiple languages. There are quite a lot of countries that speak English on top of their native tongue, due to the English language becoming the international standard in the business world. Having said that, I'm Australian and I speak a bit of French (my ex-wife's first language) and Japanese (I used to live there) but I don't post on French/Japanese forums because, regardless of whether or not I can string together relatively simple sentences, I would be incapable of contributing anything of value.

I've seen entire (page length) reviews written in broken English on the internet and every time I see them, I wonder why the person has bothered.

If 50% of this forum didn't speak English properly, it would effect the quality of discussion. It doesn't bother me because it's a relatively rare occurrence. I just think it's weird.

Also, aren't the complaining Americans you're referring to generally complaining about people who work in the US that don't have an adequate grasp of the language, like taxi drivers and shit, which results in minor communication breakdowns? Cause that's kind of different from the internet where you can chose to discuss most topics (definitely a popular film like Inception) in pretty much any language, isn't it?

This movie was somewhat a mindfuck but I got it. I would only rate it maybe a 7 out of 10 though.
 
As per my opinion ,movie was with a new theme that I want to enjoy form such a long time and got it as a same one . such flicks should be appreciated and their creators too .
