a lot on IMDB. I didn't notice, but I will watch for it when I go see it again this weekend. I love Chris Nolan's style of not making things obvious or by the numbers. I'm still trying to completely wrap my mind around Memento.

Also, this

comes up quite a bit.

i can't rate or comment much on this film cuz the state i was in. no drugs were involved but i was freaking the fuck out and i had to consciously not try to understand it to sit through the whole thing.

comments and vote will be a while before i see it again. i'm a sick puppy :(

I loved it. 4/5. My friend got me stoked about it by telling me it was basically "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Matrix" and it totally lived up to my expectations.

It's not a flawlessly brilliant classic, but it's certainly the best I've seen in quite a while.

fuck man this movie was so awesome. the look the asain guy had on the plane at the end when he first woke up is how i feel after tripping.

Wow. I saw this tripping. I had to constantly repeat what every character said in my head to follow it, and that practice actually added another very effective meta-layer to the massive ideational onion that is this movie. I couldn't explain it to somebody thouroughly, that's for sure, but I feel like I understood everything as I was watching it, which is quite a storytelling feat executed by Nolan. I agree with the "Andy Kaufman writes the Matrix" analogy. It was about on par with Synecdoche in the profundity of its statement, though probably slightly less cryptic and obviously with a different tone. It's the most psychological psychological thriller I've ever scene, for certain.

Is there anyone who practices lucid dreaming who thought this movie was great? That's what makes this movie so bland for me, is my time studying and practicing lucid dreaming. Compared to my experiences, this movie is just more hollywood-boredom-action-flick-trying-to-be-intellectual bullshit.

I'll admit I do intend on watching this movie again in the future so I can see if my reaction to it had anything to do with a mood or mindset I was in when I first saw it. It's been known to happen, but I really doubt being `wowed` to the degree reviews and posts here and on other forums gave it.

Did anyone who saw this movie and loved it so much see it sober? Maybe that was my mistake, it needs the assistance of drugs to make it as good as people seem to think it is?

^It's true that lucid dreaming studies have shown our perception of time in dreams is the same as in waking life (we can't experience the full content of days in hours, what actually happens when we think this happens is a strung together montage of events that mimics the passage of a greater length of time than the moments sum up to). However, despite experiencing lucid dreams and knowing the movie couldn't happen this contrivance was totally justified in my view for what it made possible narratively. I'm sorry, but I have to say for you to call this bland "Hollywood" bullshit strikes me as absurd posturing. Don't just say it, dissect it for us and demonstrate precisely how it's bland and comparable to the usual Hollywood flick. I'll reassess my judgment of your currently unsubstantiated proclamations based on the merits of your analysis.

I thought the special effects were pretty stunning, and the first half of the movie was pretty good. I also liked Di Caprio's acting. However, I didn't enjoy the movie as much as everyone else, and I think once the hype dies down, and people watch it again, they will be less impressed by it.

My main criticisms are

when some of them die in the dream world, they all end up going to the 'subconscious' or whatever, that DiCaprio's character was originally stuck in when he went there with his wife. Why does everyone end up there? and why is there 4 levels, and then that's it?

Also i felt the end of the film was dragging on a bit. By the time they started to enter the 3rd echelon of dream-state, i was praying for that van just to hit the fucking water, and the day to be saved.

Any one else share the same views?

i think it's kind of overrated but decent. i really liked Joseph Gordon Levitt in it, but the ending was dumb.

^^ really? i thought the ending was fantastic! i love movies that make individual movie-goers make their own conclusions.

my boyfriend and i were both sober and we both really enjoyed it. though, neither of us study lucid dreaming either. we thought it was a very novel, provacative and beautifully filmed story.

sober as well, impressed as well.

I feel like I understand Dark Knight quite a bit better now after having seen this. As much as I liked that one, I always thought that it was 30 minutes too short; the rhythm felt too quick, even choppy at times. Now I understand the perfection of its timing. DK was really good at wrapping up several threads with simple, swift strokes, and Nolan does that even better in Inception. I was also surprised at how elegant the script was, particularly since much of it was designed to keep things understandable.

It also warms my heart that a film as loopy as this has been cleaning up at the box office. Sometimes my faith in humanity is rewarded. :D

Okay i saw this last night and i must say that I got really disappointed.

The idea that the movie is based on could be really good but.
The movie is way to "American". It means that there are a lot of drama where you know
exactly what's going to happen. ( Never leave someone behind, just jump back through lots
of bad guys and save the day. )

The good guys never got hit and the bad guys died like flies ( a la James bond style but much worse ).

Not worth watching in a movie theater at least, if you want to see it, wait until you can download it in good quality because it's not worth paying for.

were you high? a good guy died in the movie.

Best.. Movie.. Ever!

I absolutely fucking love this movie! It's just sensational and thought provoking! I felt like I was in the movie theatre for about 20mins and felt partially brainwashed when I came out, haha, perhaps because of the fact that my guy and I were talking about the movie a few days after we saw it, only to realise (on the drive home we discussed the entire thing on many levels, got a tad philosophical and deep lmao) we'd never questioned HOW they are put into dream state, the whole weird 'IV' in the hand and push a button thing...

Such a fucking brilliant movie. Can't wait to see it again :D I'm looking for the script online cos it'd be an awesome read! If anyone comes across it, can they PM me!

Thanks!
