God dammit, Joe Meltdown.....I'm all for it......But it's gotta make sense.
Maybe I was a bit harsh. I do believe his performance could add to the experience instead of distract from it but it must be done right. Im not even sure what the "right" way is... but if you continue to have Joe play, please try and figure it out.

I also want to say that Im not knocking Joe as an artist. He is probably a very talented drummer and I have never heard him outside of the club realm.

How was bbb I was stuck spinning the same time as him.
And right on to the crowd that stuck it out with me in the lounge.

I would also like to add another observation. I know that most locals in the loop steer clear of bluefight due to the frequent nay-saying and trash talking...most of those ppl just can't digest that the internets is serious business which leads them to dismiss bluelight discussions as a bunch of assholes trashing everybody and everything for the sake of being know-it-alls. but, underneath the never-ending battle of wits, there is definitely a wealth of valuable information in regards to the quality of the event in question. remember we are all jaded and burned out from the failures of promoters/venues past but what we do share is fairly large wealth of experience with dj'ing, raving, promoting and a general knowledge of good electronic music. after all the griping about the venue, the initial price of BBB and everything in between someone noticed and compensated accordingly. I think that willingness to comply with our likes/disikes shows me that perhaps indy has a fighting chance...still a lot of work to be done but at least we're working together to make the most out of what we got.

this is relevant to my interests :-D

But the question is: how much of a community is it?

How many clubbers are still using this board?

I see the same people posting every day, which doesn't necessarily preclude people from coming on and looking at the forum without ever logging on or registering . . . but like, Bad Boy Bill . . . the question stands: how many people there know Bluelight?

How many people show up at Tru or Blu because they saw a post on Bluelight?

I'm sure there are a few, but I doubt anything to be concerned with 'splitting a community' over.

Am I wrong?

We need some statistics!!

I'm excited for the idea of a new . . . something-or-other . . . there's been talk with the other promoters about this, I know, but I think Jimmy takin' it by the cock is a good thing!

i wonder about that myself. i really hadnt been on much until i got involved back in the community doing the DJ stuff. before that, i used it on occasion in the post-rave indianapolis era. that and when nate the natural was running shows at the VFW's. other than that it was mostly word of mouth and flyers.

honestly most of the events our group goes, when we can afford them would most likley be due to word of mouth, but we're in contact in one way or another with most of the djs, either through myspace, facebook,or some other social site..i did notice alot of what seemed like the crowd that used to show up to true back when it was eden, tho eden definatly didnt size up when it came to djs that are there now,or maybe i just was more occupied with the people i went with,i honestly cant remember clearley that far back for multiple reasons.i am glad to see alot more cooperation between tribes, tho i think the transition if made from bluelight to something else might be difficult especially due to its long running time.all change generally is uncomfortable to people, and adjusting could make frustration,so if it is done,it definatly would need some incentive for the people not so seper fi for the scene,or at least greatly impressive enough to get people to take the time for transition.

I had a good time last night (maybe to good) They got a lot more people than I thought they would. The sound was also WAY better then I expected. For those who care I'll be playing every Saturday night at Pulse.

Hope to see ya's out. I'm looking forward to being able to play what I want again in Indy.
just a little fyi. I'll be starting the night with some down beat then moving into deep house and get harder and tuffer as the night goes on..

i think it'll serve far more personalized service than any regular 'board' could do. I'll go into more detail once I've gotten the full roadmap laid out and what it is going to take.

but, if I just wanted to make another dead board, that'd take 10 minutes of setup

I agree that we should always be developing new tools and methods. I dont think a new BB is where its at though.

The value of bluelight is not only in the entertaining remarks of its end users, it's used heavily for event indexing and propagation. A majority of f33 users are spectators. This is not so much the case on other boards in the region.

True, no matter the extraction, the bluelight text is a wellspring of information that can be used to enhance the success of matters discussed here.

By the end of this year we will have our new sol events app on the Java store, and we're working on cross compiling it to iTunes as well.

Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and things of this nature are yestersday's news.

The primary failure in pursuits of this nature is too often, people think too small.

DREAM BIG

THINK BIG

Just registered . . . guh. That site is far too busy!!!

After logging in, follow the white rabbit at the top left. Take the red pill. The new "2.0" style will then show. It's less cluttered.

When I went to close my tab, neither my credit card or index card with my drinks on it could be found. I was starting to freak out, nervously watching the bartender search for my stuff and after at least 5 minutes, I saw him pick up my card which was just laying haphazardly under the register amongst the mess. It looked like he just randomly grabbed someone's tab (which didnt have a credit card attached to it either) and tried to pawn it off on me. Melody and I had 8 domestics during the night. This tab had like 5 yager bombs, some stoli/red bulls and a few beers and had the name "Mason" at the top. I called the dude out and he ended up not charging me for anything at all. He was apologetic about the situation and Im not upset about it. After all, I know exactly what its like back there so no hard feelings. However, the bar issue most definitely needs to be addressed.
Okay so today I see TWO CHARGES on my card from Pulse. One for $12 @ 12:52 and one for $48 @ 2:40. WTF! This is absolutely ridiculous and I was lied to. We left right around 2:40 and I bet that bartender charged me for "Masons" tab and then fucking lied to me about it. I have no idea why my card was charged $12 earlier in the night... just total BS and now im pissed. I called the # on their FB with no answer so I guess Ill be heading down there Saturday :X

someone stole my cd case with my hard drive in it up there. it was behind the decks in the lounge too. seems like people just don't show respect up there. i'd heard things about the conduct up there before this about there but it just keeps getting confirmed by more and more people.

I just sent you a message on FB.

This is fucked up. So is the towing BS. Obviously they weren't ready for this many people. Hopefully they can get it fixed.....but I'm sure they've lost several potential customers after this.

there's always indymojo

which Matt seems to be using well.

They even have an EDM part of the site as well... forums, the whole deal.

That I'm tired of being the only one posting on the Juxtapoze thread on there :)

Srsly.

There's like 15 people who get on this drug site. I only get on here because it's another place to post my events....and to see George type his rants. lol

A lot of actual PEOPLE on Mojo. :p

mhmm, whatever DRUGGIE! loljk

Srsly though, I hate that this is our main point of underground communication. We need a board dedicated to just music. I've talked about creating one too, but I can't make the people follow me there.

It's good to know I'm not the only person who thinks this is the worst possible (maybe not) forum to be getting the word out to people.

get sponsers from online electronic radio stations, have an interactive chat through them?listen to dub while you scan through threads=D be all snazzy n stuff so as to attract new members..

Then I would have to get my Bluelight trampstamp removed
