I'm thinking of getting a toupe!

Do it if you like it and it makes you feel better. If it helps you feel more confident, then that is a good thing. I don't see it as being any different from putting on makeup. In fact, if women were really prone to pattern balding, toupées would be the norm since we are raised to be more preoccupied with our appearance and socially expected to look good. Shitty toupées look ridiculous, but I am sure that no one can even distinguish a good one from the real thing.

It's likely to make you very toupée conscious, I would think, though. You might be awfully worried about getting rough in sports or a bit too tipsy or whatever you do for fear that the thing shifts on your head and reveals itself to the world. Also going to bed with someone for the first time might be awkward if they have not seen it off before.

My BF started balding when he was 15 and he decided to completely shave his head at 18. He feels much more comfortable that way than he did when he had bald spots. I agree with most commenters here - toupees are very much frowned upon and I have a feeling that you'll be laughed at. As a woman I can guarantee you that even pricey, fancy toupees don't look like natural hair. Not even close. Please don't do it! You'll get over it dude, it's only goddamn hair!! Plus, a lot of women, myself included, have a soft spot for clean shaven heads - I find it unbelievably sexy. I've been with my BF for 11 years, and I've been rubbing myself against his naked head skin with delight all this time ;)

If you're into tattoos (and if your career prospects allow you to, of course), I would even suggest to shave your head entirely and get a nice piece of ink that will distract everyone from your baldness. It might sound radical but I know 2 different guys who have done it and it does look great.

I wouldn't compare wearing a toupee with putting on makeup, since makeup is almost always visible, and you don't have to 'hide' to apply it. I doubt that you'd be proud enough of your toupee to remove it or adjust its position while you're in public! Not trying to shame you here, but I definitely think you'd be making a huge mistake...

Go bald, its fucking sexy.

Stick to the things that you can control, like your physical condition.

I also agree that you would be misrepresenting yourself if you wear a toupe. You are going to be more likely to get a girl if you are comfortable with yourself, than if you are having to worry about how to bring up that you are wearing a toupe, if the relationship goes anywhere. I guess it's fine for a one-night-stand, but if you end up liking the girl, you may have just shot yourself in the foot since you will have to come clean.

Keep the laughs and smiles coming, and you will be fine.
