I've NEVER seen anybody be charged from drug use, including being caught with an oz of weed, small amount of meth, over a gram of coke and several caps of E. Maybe its where I live but you simply don't get charged for personnel possession.

Do you actually live in canada? If you do or have since the conservatives got in you would know this is complete bullshit. Canadian drug laws are still pretty lax compared to US drug laws but some of the new drug laws being passed are worse then in some US states.

Sorry for the late reply. You've all given me the impression that I'd be better off moving to a different state than a new country. I think I'll do that instead, it won't be as difficult as country hopping.

I think what we were really getting at is that you should carefully weigh your decisions for moving.
Are more lenient drug laws worth packing up your life and moving somewhere else?
For some people moving across the country or to another country might not be a big deal but for many of us we can't just up and leave; at least not just to face easier drug laws.

portugal would be a good option as its not considered criminal to have drugs if for personal use anymore

Portugal also sounds like the place to be.

Under Portuguese law, there are no criminal penalties for the personal use of any drug.
