I'm scared of LSD, but I want it

Right, I've heard so much talk about LSD, some people say it makes you see all sorts of crazy shit, some say it's super subtle, some say it's the most magical experience ever.
The reason I'm a little wary is I had some space cakes (weed), and although surely 100% different, I had a really bad trip and had the worst 4 hours of my life. I know LSD lasts for a very long time so I'm a little scared of having a very long and intense bad trip.
I've tripped quite a bit on large doses of MDMA, seeing pixelation and colourful patterns etc, but I don't know if I'm ready for LSD. Maybe there are some other psychadelics I can take beforehand to "work my way up" to the great Lucy?
EDIT: Researched UK prices on my own
Any advice would be much appreciated <3

LSD is not weed, the train of thought that if you freaked out on weed you'll also freak out on acid is like comparing apples to oranges. If you're truly afraid, then just don't do it. I personally did acid because I was afraid of it and wanted to prove to myself that I could handle it/my mind in that state.

I would say as long as you plan out your trip (good and safe environment, good people, etc..) and you're emotionally stable you'll be fine.

Agree with FB

I avoided psychedelics because I always got anxiety on weed. I thought that psychedelics would make the anxiety 100x greater. It didn't.

Hmm, seeing as I just tried the drug for the first time...yesterday: I'm not a LSD guru, by any means.

My friends (all have tripped a LOT) told me that the source is most important. If it's some guy you just met at a party, he might give you weak/bunk shit. If it's someone you trust, you can get a good dose-obviously, and the source might just be able to tell you EXACTLY what it is.

Then of course, the dose. A lot will send you FAAAR away. A little will tease you.

Tying both the product itself, the dose, and the trip together is the setting. Who are you tripping with? Will they want to do more drugs that will affect the trip negatively? Are they the kinds of people you WANT TO be mentally-altered around?

Once all these are established, you're pretty much ready for the ride of your life.

The best way I can explain what I experienced yesterday, which was a relatively strong dose of purer (note: not PURE but on the purer side lol) LSD in a dark apartment with LSD veterans, is this:

LSD makes you giggle, you're aware of your breath. Backgrounds (walls, trees, doors, lakes) flow...like on shrooms. They move in and out. Which is a hallucination...everything is intense like on MDMA...drinking water is a MEGA-event in your head lol

but what makes it different are the thoughts that race through your brain. your 'reality' is changed into this dimension of your own thoughts. they link together and make perfect sense. music of course can change your train of thoughts....for example you could be thinking about one thing, you hear a musical note or a sound in the sound and you switch to another thought in this dimension instantly. I call it a dimension because like MDMA, you're in your own world but it's so much more mental than MDMA.
your thoughts are really the trip, in my opinion.

before i go one and create a tl;dr (probably too late), i'll just say: to ME, it was a mental trip in which I found a reality I knew all along....lol

I don't get anxious when I smoke weed, just the other day me and 2 buddies had 10 kings :P
I reckon I WILL try LSD, if I ever find someone who knows where to get it, and the people I'd try it with are my kind of people <3

^^As you say, you just know you will try it sometime. You're just looking for reassurance which is cool. Nobody can say what will happen, but a bad trip is unlikely. They happen sure, but are relatively rare. Even if you do experience a 'bad trip', it will probably not last long. You can always change the direction and dynamic of a trip with just a quick change of scene or music anyway. Set and setting is crucial, and with those in place, you will have a ball.

It's just one of those things that enquiring minds need to try. And you will :)

I think the main thing that made me freak out on weed cakes is the sensation I felt in my body. I was so heavy and uncomfortably tingly that I was in agony for hours mixed with the most extreme paranoia and delusions you could possibly imagine. Just an example, I got in the shower to try and feel better but was scared so shitless of falling over and killing myself that I went back to bed.
Does LSD make your body feel different in any way?

: Does LSD make your body feel different in any way?

sure, for me i feel 'stimulated' and want to lay down during some way through come-up.. depending on the dose, tolerance

and i can feel it coming on 5-10 minutes after placing it under my toungue

have you read through these?
http://www.erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_LSD.shtml

i'm most experienced with 'hunab ku' blotter, 2 hits was pretty strong, but compared to 2 hits of this 'green alien on a purple backround'

that was more intense, like the experience of music

but i remember reading an erowid report where someone claimed that "music sounds better on DOx" (compared to lsd)

and remember reading in the "Acid in etc" thread that those aliens could possibly be DOx, but there were two 'alien' different blotters being described.. cause even on 10 hits of the hunabs the music wasn't as intense, but when i mixed a small dose with ketamine my crap speakers powered by a crap amp turned into a very detailed wall of sound

placebo? licked acid? i'm not sure

oh, and there was a batch/blotter that 'succeeded' the ones i used to take, and for those i don't feel as prone to anxiety.. maybe it's just me

strange, on mushrooms for the first few hours, even on a gram.. i'd rather be sitting in a dark room only listening to drone music whilst introspecting. while on acid i can take a large dose and sit at my computer and look at all little media i've got while peaking

Raven, I had a bad trip on LSD once.

I had taken LSD I estimate about 30 times over the course of a few years at different social functions, out camping and all sorts of concerts. I always had happy hallucinations, wonderful experiences of oneness at huge concerts and once I saw watery rainbows in my best friend's eyes.

One time I took a hit and waited too long to leave for a party. I had planned to onset at the party but it didn't go down like that.

As I left for the party I got a red light. I stopped. When it turned green I saw the green fall out of the streetlight fixture and fall to the ground in slow motion. I could hear soft, low, unintelligible whisperings around my head. Green light hit the street and bounced back into the light fixture in slow motion. I sat in my car for a few more lights, watching it fall out and bounce back. Then someone honked and I came to my senses long enough to realize I was not able to drive off so I pulled back around and parked and went inside.

I went into the house and slowly sank into the corner of the living room. A darkness seemed to lurk both in me and in the air, so I laid down with a blanket over my head. I spent the next several hours in fear and loathing,(thus the term) seeing demons, hearing demons laugh at me, and I laid in the corner by myself scared absolutely to death. I forgot I was on a drug. I thought I had gone to hell.

It was 1978. No cell phone in my pocket to call a friend. Kitchen wall phone might as well have been gone because I was too gone to use it. In fact, I could not speak AT ALL for about 30 hours after the LSD wore off.

I never told my friends about any of this because I didn't want to lose my street cred. (Some of you laugh but you know social pressure is as real as air pressure and water pressure. We rank each other.)

But I never took acid again.

You are smart to be scared of it. It might work great for you though, you never know. Every person is an individual with a different mind set and a different set of dna. You might dig it like I did and it might dig you back. You might freak out like I did after taking it like 30 something times over the course of two or three years. You might take it the rest of your life and never have one bad experience.

You are scared because you already know its dangerous. You already know that you could wig out the first time you try it. The question is, WHY risk it? WHY do you WANT to risk it?

I understand the desire to get a head change. At the moment I have an incredibly unreal reality because I wanted to be extremely high all day Monday. I've been building up ftoxins in my system since Friday and now it is a little after 8 a.m Monday and my senses are stuffed with images, scents, sounds, feelings and flavors. I will stay at home all day and listen to it rain and trip the FUCK out.

I am smiling and I feel like I am floating. It is raining outside but I can hear it like it's inside. I am going to have a glorious day. I am thankful for the trippy shit I am seeing right now. I am not scared, I am enjoying everything this day gives me. Every minute of today will be full of more strange and awesome joy than I could even imagine possible on my own.

You know yourself that drugs can be positive and they can be negative. If you decide to risk taking LSD, take precautions. Don't spend the night alone. Plan for an attack from hell so in case it comes, you have prepared whatever you think will take to get you out of there. Yoga pose, positive tip music, coloring book, back rub... whatever it will take to get you up on a peace cloud.

I used to be the same way before trying, so was my friend who was recently initiated...

But both of us started with a dose that is not overwhelming (i.e. up to 100 ug, probably better around 75) and suddenly found this fear almost laughable because it was so crystallizing, benign, magical and beautiful.
You only need to be afraid of LSD if you are really afraid of the person you are inside, as cheesy as that may sound. If you can agree with yourself then it should be fine and it's better to worry about your setting (thus apart from the set) than about LSD itself.

It can really do a lot of things but what it will do will eventually be entirely up to your psyche.

Thanks for the info guys, if I ever come across some acid I will definitely try it as from what I've read it doesn't seem to be that bad, and as long as I'm with someone who can control me if shit goes sour there isn't any apparent danger (psychosis from the dose I would take is unlikely).

You definitely don't need to "work your way up" to LSD if you want to trip. It's really gentle as far as psychedelics go. But also capable of blowing one's mind in the extreme, if you know how to work with it...

Cannabinoid anxiety is also totally different from psychedelic discomfort. I always, without fail, experience some degree of irrational paranoia when stoned. The entire peak of an LSD trip is almost always pure spiritual ecstasy, for me.

The main issue of course is making sure you get actual LSD-25 and not some bromo-dragonfly or whatever kind of RC stuff often gets sold as "acid".

LSD is not for the faint of heart. I don't think it's necessary to start with something else to work you way up; just take 1/2 or 1/4 of a tab and see how you feel before dosing more.

It is not at all like other drugs.

It makes you question everything, and I do mean everything. It cuts through all of the BS programming that you've received from parents/school/work/religion/news/advertising and forces you to re-evaluate what your true core beliefs are.

A good example is in the movie Year One when Jack Black eats from the Tree of Knowledge. I am not Christan but if anything seems like what was described to me as a kid about the effects of eating from the Tree of Knowledge then LSD is that substance.

If you are cluttered or are overweight or have someone in your life who is abusive or are studying a subject in college that you're not really passionate about or working at a job that isn't up to your potential or something else that you know deep down is not quite "right" but which you've never seemed to conquer then it seems like the easiest thing in the world to overcome when you're tripping. Any self-doubts go away and you know what you really want out of life. It can be very disruptive if you are not prepared for it.

It can also cause paranoia; do not take it if you are afraid, or at least take a small amount. I took 320ug's and three boxes of nitrous on my first trip and I completely lost my marbles for a good 18 hours.

I also did 19 tabs over a 6-week period and it caused some residual psychosis to where I was shifting between parallel universes. Granted I did a whole lot of the stuff but just be careful, your view of reality can permanently change.

That being said the substance is one of the best drugs ever, just start small and be prepared for a major wake-up call; your perspective will never be the same.

I'd try pure MDMA though first if you've never done it before. That has much safer "headspace" because it makes you so happy. LSD's effects have much to do with your state of mind before going into it.

I can't possibly estimate the purity of the MDMA I have taken, but from what I've heard my last trip seemed like it was pretty pure, and I did a half gram in a night, needless to say I was rolling BALLS :D The time before that I did a quarter gram of decent stuff, then took a pill which I paid 10 quid for, and I was on another planet, full on hallucinations.
More than trying LSD I really want to candyflip, but I want to know what it feels like by itself first.
I get what you mean about MDMA having a safer headspace. It puts you in such a good mood that it's nearly impossible to have a bad trip unless you take way too much

If you are worried about having a difficult experience with a long duration, do mushrooms or some shorter-lasting psychedelic.

Just start with smaller doses or play with some shrooms or tryptamines first if you don't know what psychs will be like. Although LSD is kind of in a class of its own against other psychs.

If you do like 60ug of LSD the chances of getting lost in LSDland are minimal and it is plenty enough to get a clear picture of what it is like.

Just take a pen knife and cut the tab in half or quarters; you can always take a bit more if you feel like you're not getting enough of a trip. Just wait long enough before boosting to know you're getting the effects, I recommend holding it in your mouth as long as possible and then kind of chewing the tab until it more or less dissolves as that will speed up the come-up.

Whatever you do, make sure you are going to not have anything going on that day; if you're going hiking or something then that's one thing but otherwise I'd just suggest staying inside for the day until you get an idea of what you're dealing with.

LSD has very little body load unlike most psychs. But it can be a total brainfuck if you do tons of it. I did 320ug on my first trip and it was very hard to integrate the experience because it was so overwhelming. Don't follow in my footsteps; please start small. I only took that much because it felt like it wasn't kicking in at 160ug but I didn't wait long enough for it to kick in.

Due to LSD's being active at such a small amount of material, and the fact you will never know for sure the size of the hit you just took. I really think that being nervous about taking it is only normal. LSD is Illegal, but if it wasn't I would suggest you really try to overcome your nervousness. I remember my first time, I ate 3 tabs, It was the best experience of my life. If I let the fear stop me, I would not be telling you how wonderful of a teacher it can be. Even if your just looking for a fun time, lsd has a teacher in that class to.

I just thought of something. Everyone says candyflips are so amazing, it's pretty much impossible to have a bad trip cause the E puts you in such a good mood.
If someone was having a bad trip on LSD, and you give him MDMA as an "antidote", would that be a foolish move? I wouldn't do it but maybe it would work.

Personally I have found that MDMA "lightens" the trip a bit.

However, one time my friend was FREAKING OUT on 4-AcO-DMT, just confused way way too fucked up, he couldn't even walk. We gave him some MDMA hoping it would snap him out of it, but instead it just made him extremely delerious and it made it even worse
