Benzos I'm going to take Valium... again... any advice?

Hi everyone, haven't been on here since summer last year, as that was the time I have stopped using any kind of drugs after I met my girlfriend, so any kind of subject related to it did not interest me, that's why I stopped using this forum.

Before I met her I would take Valium, I saw that as an only way of bringing some colour into my life, it was so grey and empty I just didn't do anything apart from getting drunk and crying myself to sleep every night. I found Valium a very good alternative to alcohol, it made me smile, I could talk to people actually believing I was worth something, and not falling over and smell bad while doing it. Valium also helped me to speak to my then future girlfriend, Valium kind of released my real personality. But then we got together, she found out about Valium and told me to stop, so I did fearing I would lose her. She then replaced Valium, she was my drug, I even managed to cope with my hateful family, knowing that next day I'll see her gave me motivation and happiness.

But well, now she's gone, I was dumped on my birthday back in January because of the horrible things I said out of my jealousy and monster and controlling nature. Well deserved, she has put up with me for enough time, congratulations to her. This whole year has been horrible for me, I had 2 close friends (or at least I like to believe they are) that I would see at school every day, but I would barely see them outside school, it was quite obvious they didn't like me and speak to me just for the sake of it. It's not like I'm some kind of a social victim, I am just mean and reclusive. I find myself to be evil as well, very evil, worst thing is I can't help it.

I kind of say I don't want to do it, but I already know... I want to take Valium, or any other benzo that works in a similar way. I can't stand the hangovers and the inability to live in the real world properly when drunk. Now that I also got into university doesn't help either, I need a sharp mind for the subject I chose to purge my own demons (Psychology) and I can't go to lectures drunk!

-------------------------------------------

Sorry for the long story, I know most of you just don't give a f**k about it. But it's nice to let it out, especially when it's done anonymously.

Now I need some advice, I was taking Valium before, and it done the job, the fear and hate was gone for the whole day after taking 10mg in the morning. Is there a better benzo than Valium that you would recommend, something more healthier perhaps? When I was taking Valium my eyes always felt kind of heavy, but it was ok I guess.

1. I need advice on how to take Valium in order to keep it under control, increase the chance to avoid addiction or any unwanted side effects? (I swear that I never took Valium for recreational purposes, I never really got any recreational effects either, because the removal of fear doesn't count as a recreational effect right?)

2. I recently started lifting weights, would Valium have any bad effect on that?

3. Will my ability to stay focused or my memory be affected by benzos in the long run?

4. Do you think doing it for 5 days, and then stopping for 7-10 days reduce the chance of addiction?

Thanks to everyone for reading this, and thanks to everyone in advance for replying.

I've been perscribed benzos for about a year and half now, with only a few times taking breaks as long as 3 or 4 weeks. That isn't from running out either but there have been times when i've binged and managed.

I've been perscribed 1mg xanax, 1 atvian, or 10mg valium (30 monthly). My favorite is valium like you. I find with valium it has the longest effects so its nice and I take either a half or a whole. I usually exercise on 5mg of valium because it HELPS me motivate myself and go harder surprisingly. IF I take a whole dose, 10mg, I can get kinda stumbly.

I sometimes feel addicted and the days I go without definetly aren't the best days but they can be made better by putting yourself in relaxing/friendly positions, like chilling with family or friends, or going out to a bar with buddies. With Valium I never really feel myself get to a dangerous point of withdrawal. I never really exceed 40mg when I use it recreationally which is 1-2 a script.

I smoke a ton a weed too. haha I hope this helps.

I only took valium like once, one of my buddies happened to have a blister pack of 10mg but i been on Benzos for about 3 years(klonopin). I would say i undersdtand that because when I would pop a few klonopin i wasnt so nervy around people and could express my self fuller.

In the long run yeah even tho they are different but still Benzodiazepines, i would say it could affect your memory and concentration. me i would always keep talking about stuff that i already told my friends about few days ago and just be off most of the time.

Addiction well thats something else, i used them as prescribed and for fun here and there but ended up addicted to it and having major tolerance to its dose and effect. but mind you this is after 3 years of everday use and im suceeding in actually comming right off from my own tapering schedule went from about 6-4mgs(12 to 8 0.5mg pills a day) to less than 0.5mg a day. EVERYBODY's chemistry and make up is differnt so it would be hard to say how long you could use and have a 'wanting/needing to have it' feeling, perhaps 7 days a week tops and take more than 2-3 weeks off. that is IF you want to stay safe and cautious about it. oh and yeah i know it says Valium and my experience is from Clonazepam but they are still benzodiazepines and from what i know Clonazepam is stronger so im just trying to provide extra information and advice that could be read.

Thank you for replying. Can you tell me anything about sex-life while being a Valium user?

Also, what is your daily dosage of Valium, how and when do you take it to control anxiety etc. I'm not interested in recreational use.

It sounds to me like recreational use is virtually the only thing you're interested in. I'm not trying to be hostile, but if the choice for you is between getting drunk and taking valium...Also it sounds like you're using it more for depression than for anxiety? Do you know that benzos almost invariably worsen depression?

You say that you need a "sharp mind". In my view, you would have a better chance of staying mentally sharp by sticking with alcohol. Benzos have TERRIBLE cognitive effects. If you use any benzos for more than a few days you will literally feel your memory disintegrating.

1. I always think that people who start threads like this are already well on their way to addiction - psychologically at least. Normal/'clinical''/PRN users aren't generally as concerned about the risks. It may seem that this makes them more susceptible to addiction, but I think in fact it usually means that they simply don't care enough about the drug to spend time writing about it or formulating plans.

2. I agree with the other person who said that small doses of benzos can sometimes make working out easier.

3. Your focus, motivation and memory will suffer with benzo use. There's no maybe about it, they just absolutely will. I'm a Uni student and I find that chronic benzo use is just totally inconsistent with high academic performance.

4. That would definitely reduce the chance of addiction.

I realise that this post is highly opinionated - I'm just trying to share my point of view.

Agree with all of this - best to avoid benzos where possible. The worst effect is the disintegration of one's memory.

Sometimes complete days can be wiped out. Or if somebody asks you about something 6 months ago you likely won't remember if you regularly use benzos.

only use them in an emergency or if coming off an opioid weekend.
