I'm going to invent a new written language!!!

Sorry Mugz, was putting the Turkish up as it's a language I know quite well, and also as most European languages are based on the same set of foundations....also as a language, Turkish is a lot simpler than English, and most European languages, and you should be able to see from the above example a lot of our (English) language is extraneous, unnecessary, and I *think* this is your aim with creating your new written language, to do away with the clutter.

Still don't see how you deal with nouns/verbs etc ;)
 
Have started reading the wiki pages on the basics of linguistics, looking into syntax and universal grammar at the moment and also language structure, specifically about adpositions, my language and sentence structure is based on spatial adpositions that are directional at the moment because the joining symbols are placed around the main symbol depending on where the word on the main symbol is located.

Reading more about all the different subclasses of adpositions I think that you are correct that I should be trying to do away with such complex rules and make the new language so at least static and directional adpositions can be determined by the context in which they are presented in the whole rather than having a ton of sets of rules and symbols for each.

Thanks for the input Mailmonkey, even reading these wiki pages on the basics of linguistics show that nothing about linguistics is basic at all=D which is I think why so many people have called my quest outrageous, I am not going to let that put me off though, just need to actually learn more about the basics and I think that before I create more symbols I need to decide the basic rules of my language with a bit more thought that I had done before, to account for the many general rules in linguistics.

Is fun to learn and create at the same time.
 
I'm away from home, have been in Prague last weekend and was moving the week before that, had computer problems, including webcam ones, will update when I get back and get my computer in a shape to take photos again with the webcam as my other camera I don't have memory cards for, and when I get back to my flat.
 
He's working on it, only his dog shat on his computer, then he spilt a cup of tea on his notebook, then he went to Bognor regis and when he came back there was a family of leprechauns living in his flat, so he got them evicted, and then he changed jobs and spent 3 weeks commuting to the moon, and then a Romanian orphan child he didn't even know he'd adopted turned up and then his goldfish died. But he really is working on it :)
 
I feel apostrophes became a stumbling block. But that is not an unsupportable issue and can be worked through.
 
It's based on actual experience!

My brain sort of automatically corrects reversed writing for me, so seeing something that looks like "JJUq" on a door always makes me want to pull it and "HZUq" makes me want to push it. Much to the amusement of everyone else .....
 
I'm planning to write a novel in Mugobian but I can't start till I have a full grammar and vocabulary, please expedite.
 
patience is a virtue, am lacking capabilities to upload anything since my netbook broke and internet browsing is soley on the ps3, progress is coming along well though, i've been reading up on linguistics and have created many more words and grammatical rules, when i get the chance to upload i will asap. I want to prove some of my doubters wrong and show my accomplishments to all here for feedback and criticism

Not bad at all but your also forgetting day to day chores.. He had to take his kangaroo for a walk. The breadbin wanted fed. The remote for the cattle wasnt working...Zorro popped in for tea, stayed all afternoon. He found a paedofile in his sock. An artichoke was blocking the road. He was playing Qwiditch.....;)
 
seriously it is a work in progress, darth vader did pop by and ihad to stall him for a couple of months with the promise of special dark tea, i came back with the tea and lthe teachings of yoda and eliminated him. So then I went back to work, couldn't let darth vader destroy my new language before it was finished which i suspect was his plan. My work can continue now without that threat. I also got rid of the most dangerous being in the known universe, ikeep yoda in a cage like a parrot though so maybe darth vader did have some dark influence on me although yoda doesn't mind as long as i remember to feed him and let him browse the internet, i caught him wanking the other day though which disappointed me so i spanked him, which he seemed to enjoy :/ I guess I still have much to learn!!!
