well I just have to mention that I find a lot of humour in the fact that someone's opinion is expressed. Another person counters, the 1st guy says something to the effect of "gosh, why are you a dick, golly, I'm gonna go, just cause you don't like____" Well, just because you're going and like who's playing doesn't mean we have to ya dig. Everyone is expressing opinions. and just to clarify, this isn't directed at any one person.

Yeah the dnb lineup is a bit weak, so what? There is some DNB, albeit an old has-been like aphrodite. There are tons of locals on the lineup that could be the next hottest thing and are undiscovered.

Last year they had John B, has he done anything influential in the scene in the last 2 years other than his stupid myspace song? Electric Skychurch or Infected Mushroom? Just because a promotor isnt bringing the newest and freshest talent hot off the presses and making headlines to the knowledgable doesnt make it totally wack.

And yes Geek we all know you run a great dnb night bringing in some of the best talent the dnb world has to offer, you are sure to make us remember it by mentioning it somewhat often. It is something to be proud be of I agree, just dont let it get to your head more than it already has ;)

I wish the lineup was steller and had some newer talent, but c'est la vie. I could care less who is on the lineup really as long as good times are to be had and we have fun. The Hoosier outdoor party doesnt have anyone other than locals, the party we attended saturday didnt have anyone fresh either, just some old talent thats been making their rounds for the past 10-15 years like this party.

I think a lot of people are taking notice of this and are trying to bring back the talent that was popular when the rave scene was flourishing, thinking it might jump start things again. I dont like it and dont think it will help either,
but its better than nothing I s'pose.
i spend a lot of time investigating locals/regionals/undiscovered talent.... probably more than most.

yes, i do tout Tuesdays rather heavily, bc if you look @ DnB across the country, more top talent plays indy regularly than most cities. i take great pride in that, and when someone else around here does what iQ has over the past 2 years, then they can come talk to me. every bit of pride that i feel for that night has been 100% earned and paid for by myself.

actually the rave in cincy did have some talent that is actually doing shit. they were the supporting characters on the DnB lineup. Sum & Arsenic both have tracks coming out on top DnB labels. Beet & Bad Lt have done remix work for the TEKDBZ label. Even Danny TWC has more respect than some whackass Aphrodite.

hell, i attended the rave this past weekend just to throw shit @ wilhelm k

i wont be attending Hoosier Outdoorz.... i have no reason to attend. i can listen to all the same music @ home where its comfortable and have communications technology access.

i would never have booked John B (at least not publicly under iQ) because he is fucking worthless just like Aphrodite.

yep curtis, this party doesnt have any fresh talent, and it is wack because of it. there is not a single fucking reason for me to attend this event. why the fuck would I or anyone drive 3+ hours to hangout w/ a bunch of smelly kids at the bottom of a cliff w/out some real headliners? *drugs, cough, cough* i would actually consider going to an event like this if the MUSIC was at least quality and contemporary, but everyone that actually throws these damn Underaged-Lets-Do-Drugs Fests seems to constantly overlook any DnB w/ ANY real credibility.

the whole "better than nothing" crap is what allows bunk ass shows and promoters to continue doing shit like this. its honestly rather insulting to someone that spends thousands of dollars to bring quality, respectable talent to a region that would never have seen it otherwise.

this event isnt about a proper lineup.

this event is about doing drugs.

PERIOD FUCKING DOT.

PS the first freak fest had a dope lineup w/ Craze, Dylan, Dj Lee, Kaos, & Evol Intent

sweet jesus eternalx...u read my mind. are u attendint ugs3?

Of course I am attending already got my tickets. We come every year because its an excuse to get out and go camping and have fun. Obviously people cant do that anymore without big promotors crying about their 'money' they spend on big fresh talent dj's that dont draw the crowd they expect. :p

And yes I am sure there will be some drugs there, they show up at every party, even big camping ones. How about the party in Cincy that had someone drug out and sent to the hospital because of drugs? Or the countless other people there obviously fucked up? Their lack of good security at the door and inside the building wasnt noted either because it had some hot djs that are doing something in the scene.

How about other big outdoorsie events like bonnaroo, burning man, woodstock and phish? There are TONS of drugs there more readily available than cigarrettes or water at a gas station. But you dont always hear people bitching about it being a big drug fest because there is a lot of good music there, it gets overshadowed by the fact that new fresh talent gets more headlines than drugs.

Then you get an event that has some good talent, albeit a bit old and maybe not so fresh or supportive of new stuff, !!OMG!! its all about the drugs and NOTHING about the music.

a.) i talk shit about bonaroo and hippies in general. i think its pretty much commonly known that most ppl tend to attend those events for the parking lot/campground experience.

b.) the party in cincy was a rave w/ drugs... yes. and i made several jokes about it and talked shit. i always do @ the clockwerk parties. its sad.

i say that these events are about drugs and not music bc the music that will be there is mostly cheese.

also remember, this topic came up bc we were discussing how wack the lineup for this event was. the reason why it came to this is bc, i believe two things. the ppl that are going to attend this event dont care enough about music that they require a sophisticated lineup, and thus mostly likely have other agendas. secondly, i base this on the countless reports from everyone coming back over the previous two events. what makes this installment the worst is that it has the worst lineup of all three. the first had a great dnb lineup. the second had some redeeming factors w/ artists like gein. this lineup, dnb is almost completely absent minus aphrodite and reid speed.

i go out to hear shit i probably wont hear otherwise or REALLY want to hear live. none of that is present in this lineup.

i feel like this lineup is completely dumbed down for more of a "custie" audience.

i personally dont see why anyone would attend this event if it werent to get smashed out of their lil minds in a semi-safe setting. the sad part is that it is evidenced by the number of lil crackheads that keep asking about security.

Yeah all the kids asking about security and the door make me laugh, because if they have been there before they would know what security is like. I dont think all the times I've gone have I ever seen a cop inside the grounds. Plus everyone is bringing lots of food and drinks and tons of coolers, so it makes it pretty hard to effectively screen for the bad stuff.

I do agree the lineup is defintely the weakest they've had, they could have done so much better.

last year i saw a guy walk in with a cooler. when he opened it, there were glass bottles of beer and an acrylic bong. they confiscated the beer (no glass allowed) but the bong was allowed. that gives you a good idea about what security is like.

bring canned beer only!

That would be him! You should check out his website that shows all the different versions of his gay costumes he's had.

dont get me wrong i go to partys to listen to some of my favorite headliners. its all about the setting, friends and the vibe in the crowd that makes the whole party expierence worth going to.

ok captain contradiction(your whole lil rant goes back and forth man) If you go to parties to listen to music, why is a shitty lineup(in our eyes) not a valid reason for US to state that WE are not going and the shitty lineup is why. I just don't get it. If you wanna go, by all means go. I'm not. I honestly look for there to be way to many intoxicated folks for me to just enjoy myself. When situations like that arise, police show up and harass everyone. I've seen it. Have Fun.
