IL, Chicago - 06.27-29.08 - The 2008 Midwest Electronic Music Festival

yeah you know things are going downhill when the promotor is making the person running one of his stages pay his own entry. I think a lot of DJ's won't like paying either, especially since it seems nobody was promised money. Sheisty!!

damn i can't wait til this party single handedly brings back the scene in the midwest.

The only thing you can't blame on promoters is weather and gas prices everything else is fair game.

Because you know that if this were done appropriately no one would care and still go to have good time.

you'd be amazed at what i can blame a promoter for.

I think we all know who's really to blame for any shortcomings of this event.

From what I hear it is going wellish...they totally do not have enough folks there...and they dropped the entry price today to 35 bux.

Can't wait to talk to folks who are there now.

Personally, I can't wait till MMMF!! Raving on a mountain?!?!? I am so there.

P.S. Wondci2, it is at the Kane County Fair Grounds, quite near Aurora. If I hadn't been drinking tonight I'd prolly have gone, since they dropped the door price.

I know, it's a silly party...but it's close to me, and the weather is perfect for dancing outside...

Anywho, I'm drunk, so it's a moot point.

(Unless you were laughing at MMMF, which is going to rock.)

Soooo what the hell happened? I heard there was around 1500 people there and it was very windy so I didn't get any other details.

Windy is an understatement. there was a 20 minute monsoon complete with hail on saturday afternoon. Someones tailgate flew off their truck and into another car. Crazy...

As for the party, it was pretty mediocre. Too little variety in music on the main two stages. Every other stage got shut off at midnight even though they were told they could go til 2. Saw two ambulances come on friday night and was told there was at least one other there earlier in the day. Paladin didn't show and I believe Atomic Babies were cut off 20 minutes into their set when they shut down the two main stages around 3:30 instead of 5am like scheduled on Friday. We didn't stick around for Saturday night, so who knows how that went...

So...who else was on top of the hill tripping BALLS when the monsoon/hail ate the campground? Like DAMN. We had fun, but yea, terribly put together, shitty assholes for security. Saturday morning, they help us all hostage in the venue. Wouldn't let us out until 2 PM. WTF? *shrugs* I seriously had a good time. I heard that 2 people had seizures and someone passed out, though. Also heard that someone ran naked through the field, but who knows on that one. Anyways, hope everyone else had fun and had a safe drive there/home.

so does anyone still feel butt hurt about Indiana not getting a stage?

my issue was and always has been who they chose to deal with and how they chose to deal with people. i thought about stepping up to make it happen, and decided against it for all the reasons listed previously. i made an assessment based on the clusterfuck i thought it would be, and decided not to pursue anything further.

my argument over indiana not having a stage was just to counter jimmi's assessments that indiana didn't seem to deserve anything.

that said, it really does suck that they got more of the friggin' insane midwest weather. :(

to those that went, you should have known better.
for those that did not know better, consider it a learning expierence.
and finally, to the dj's that drove many hours for nothing, file it under paying dues. don't be too upset, every dj out there has been thru it.
it's unfortunate that this event went down the way it did, what ever happened to the plur?
