Well at least that what Turtle said at the strip club in Lafayette.

Well, it is nice to know that the Indiana rave scene, like Tony Soprano, holds their meetings at the strip club.

Maybe there was miscommunication because you all couldn't hear each other with huge titties in your face. 8o

Bada Bing!!!

there is no detroit stage either. there's 4 dj's from the detroit scene on the whole line-up. 2 playing a northern indiana stage & 2 on a chicago stage.

300+ dj's, 250+ you never heard of, and i bet most of the line-up will be lucky to see $100 pay.
all you guys in indy are better off not playing this event, you deserve much better.

I was informed about the cancellation on the way to Lafayette (strip club.)
Had nothing to do w/ huge titties etc. It was already cancelled a week before then fool.

SO I take that it's too late... Are these flyers printed? What was required of Murtle? Is it still possible to get a stage. Were they going to provide an actual stage or was it some out of the back of my friends minivan kind of thing?

...and why is it that these people tend to go to noobs in the first place. Could it be that the "big others" are somehow out of reach?

i think the reason that the more experienced people in the promoting pool did the risk assessment mathematics and realized that it really wasn't worth it.

my pride is pretty bent outta shape about this, but the risk/work level just was not worth the return.

Yeah no doubt. 300dj's Not hardly any from detroit/indiana. and the ones that are listed I've never heard of. How is this a good representation of midwest electronic talent when you've skipped a SHIT ton of well known locals. sigh . o Well.

i have no interest in helping orchestrate this.

i'd much rather just spend the day at a park down in b'ton with a boom box, a bbq grill, and you lot.

Well then, it seems that the most proactive way around this dilemma is to throw a counter-party that will include most of those not asked to play at MEMF (off the top of my head: all of Indiana, Michigan djs, and some of the better acts in Kentucky and Ohio)

This party should be thrown on the same day and should be free. If well-orchestrated, it should be more rewarding for Midwest party people to attend our show, rather than the larger more expensive party.

To make it fair, there should be a "buy-in" to be part of the party planning committee. The buy-in will be equally agreed upon and collected at the start of planning. Hopefully, some of the more experienced and resourceful promoters will take an interest (geek, shiva, Nate the Natural, NateFx, physix, i am looking at you guys). I am willing to be involved only on the condition that others join in to soften the blow. More than likely, I can find an outdoor place to have a party during the day and a nightspot to have an after party and maybe make back some of what we spent.
Anyone interested?

It really isn't that difficult if everyone works together.
Im in

of course you're not.... i drank too much coffee yesterday...I'm not so interested now either, but i will still give it a go if more promoters with more money want to chip in. The way I see it, you lose money every week on some tiny show, you might as well lose the same amount on a big show.

if you're interested i can hook up some detroit dj's and we can all drive down to indy.
let me know if you guys get something going.

actually whats shitty is totally disrepecting indy & pretty much detroit.
indy has been a factor in the midwest scene for a looong time.
the early/mid 90's people like trevor, brandon, rick thompson, tony nink, etc were holding it down in indy. then i did my thing and added to indys rep from 96-98.
then scarab blew indy up even more in the 2000's.
to do an event an and call it the midwest music fest and not having any representation from indy is disrespectful.
then again the line-up is chock full of no-names. so it really makes sense.
lets go book as many dj's as we can that will play for free or chump change and hand out our giant poster size flyers for us in their area. cuz lord knows if the flyer looks like a big deal ignorant noobs will buy in to it.
it's a "midwest" music fest and i counted 8 maybe 9 midwest headliners on the whole bill.
the promoters should have looked to the past & present of all the midwest.
just in indy alone you have the d&b guys who do the fix(d)/broken events which helped bring how many top drum and bass names to the midwest. you have john & slater who are in the top tier of u.s. house producers, there's shiva who imo is just as good if not better than any headliner on the memf line-up (though i prefer your techno lisa, no disrespect),and theres tons more.
and dont even get me started on detroit.
its awesome psycho is booked, but he is not even on the main stage.
whats REALLY funny is on another forum i read a post where someone was trying to compare the memf to demf. trying to say the line-up is more diverse, fun, etc.
LOL

lol indeed!

i'd rather go to WEMF than MEMF, and WEMF is a bunch of trance/hardcore nonsense half the time.

lordy... all this -EMF shit goes to show one thing: ravers are lacking in originality, creativity, and a healthy thesaurus.

edit: technically, three things, i guess.

Amazing how diverse a line-up one can get when you're not paying nearly all the DJ's. What a shame.
