Wow, I see no Indy DJs at all. I take it Turtle's efforts fell through. Still looks cool though. Literally a huge lineup.

That is a bummer. We were told specifically not to focus on booking Indy DJs for the Rapid Eye Ent. & Dirtywax Media stage because Indy was supposed to be covered.

We might just still have a few time slots available ;)

myspace.com/rapideyeentertainment (You know what to do)

Cory and I were booked and then I was informed a week ago that the stage got canceled cause steady or anyone else wanted to fuck w/ it. Well at least that what Turtle said at the strip club in Lafayette. Turtle not being able to leave the state prob. played a roll too. Could of been a good opportunity to get some Indy dj's out of Indy. Still going, I'm gonna have to break out the portable hammock and keg for this shit.

The thing is that there were other people interested in doing it. If Turtle isn't able to leave the state, then why bother coordinating something that would potentially fall through?

I didnt want to fuck with it...and when I talked to Turtle and emailed Infraded about certain detailed information....I felt not enough info was given to Turtle about the stage that was to be represented....and emails that where NOT RETURNED...well..."2 tears in a bucket".....so for myself it was not a good investment of time or money...the event has been posted and advertised for at "least" 2 months...if people where interested they should have taken action....there where more issues that seemed to be not so honest or professional..in my opinion.....but if anyone would like details..email and ask....

The thing is that I know of a few people who wanted to do a stage, but they were declined in doing so.

I do know that many things on the other end were not dealt with in a timely manner, like you said.

Maybe they will be willing to come on here and elaborate.

I just think that it is fucked up having a Midwest Electronic Music Fest w/ out an Indy/Indiana stage. What a shame. Indy should be representing the Midwest to the fullest. Nothing against Steady or Turtle but why didn't y'all pass the torch to someone who wanted to deal with it? I'm sure someone would've been more than happy to deal w/ it, or did you? Maybe it was to late? Oh well, I'm still going. Hopefully it pops off good and this one won't be last.

I went to Infrared about doing a stage a few months back. At the time there were still a couple stages open, but they said I should talk to Turtle since he had an Indy stage going already. I talked to Turtle. He said he had everything under control and everyone booked for an Indy/NWI stage and turned down any help I offered. A month or so later he told me to bring my records in case one of the DJs he booked didn't show, as a "backup dj".

When it was decided to drop the effort, he could have asked someone else about taking over. This was supposed to be Indy's representation in the Midwest Electronic Music Festival, not another house party that gets canceled by the owners of the house on the day of the party. :\

Hopefully I'll still make it up there. There's a million DJs on this list I want to see and it will be totally fun I'm sure.

i'm still not sure about going to this... we'll see. i really wouldn't be going for the dj's, i'd be going pretty much for the people.

color me unsurprised.

this is what happens when someone who doesn't know their p's and q's ends up in charge of something that a more experienced promoter could have handled better.

this is not a diss to matt either, although it may seem that way. something this complicated needed to be handled by someone with more experience.

to that end, the promoters on the other end should have done some fact checking too.

it's utterly PATHETIC that indy/indiana is not involved with a "midwest" festival, but fuck em. i can't be arsed to spend money to put together a stage so that the promoters can make money off our hard work. that is the main reason why i was so hesitant about being involved in any way in the first place.

i basically did a risk/reward analysis and decided the reward (my/our pride) was definitely outweighed by the risk (sinking money and time into something that would end up being more frustrating than fun).

Thank you!
Glad, I wasn't the only one that felt this way...

Being a resident of Indy and partying since 2000ish. I think its fuckin pathetic that all of our awesome talent isnt being represented in a MIDWEST event. I think some of our ppl are the best in the tri state area. Hands down Id rather watch one of our dj's spin in a portapotty then drive 4 hrs to see headliners. I've always felt like that. Nap needs to be put on the map. I'm sick of us not getting enough light within the EDM scene. grrrr

Um, Indy is and has on the map. Where've you been?

The fact that maybe we're not getting enough light in the EDM scene is the lack of support. I mean, have you been out lately?

moreover, one person probably shouldn't be handling this. i mean, i doubt even i would have had the tenacity to deal with this massive undertaking. throwing an event and booking all the talent is one thing; doing that plus deal with the REAL promoters for the event and all the curve balls they can throw at you is another.

i realize matthew saw this as an opportunity to shine semi-solo as a promoter AND make sure that indiana was well represented -- and as always i commend his tenacity -- but he really should have undergone this happening with some help, expert or otherwise (preferably expert).

moreover, he probably should have asked one of the other people who offered help to take over, rather than simply dropping it altogether.

but, as codi said: live and learn.

SO I take that it's too late... Are these flyers printed? What was required of Murtle? Is it still possible to get a stage. Were they going to provide an actual stage or was it some out of the back of my friends minivan kind of thing?

...and why is it that these people tend to go to noobs in the first place. Could it be that the "big others" are somehow out of reach?

furthermore, is it possible to replace an Indy dj in 1 of Paul Anthony's time slots? Why the fuck is he from Ohio too?
