The theory about 'holes' in the brain has a kernel of profound truth in it:
Brain scans of MDMA users have revealed regional deficits in blood flow.
This shows up as 'holes' due to the imaging technology being used.
The fact that it was translated into bullshit, is caused by incorrect presentation in the media, combined with a
lust for ignorance among users.
The 5-HT network has an incredible impact upon the distribution of blood in the brain.
Whether or not this modification can be called 'bleeding' shouldn't matter.
MDMA causes disruptions in the blood distribution in the brain.
This is
fact.
It is well known among neurologists that a healthy brain is supposed to have even/average blood distribution around the entire brain. When disruptions are seen, regardless of the cause, the patient frequently exhibits major problems.
Why can't people state it simply and correctly?
Do we really need a fucking
doctor at the party to speak the truth clearly?
Not only can it cause a drop in blood flow, but it can be seen for weeks/months following use.
In some users, a subsequent INCREASE is seen, often for up to a year or more.
These increases are associated with anxiety/depression among other symptoms.
It is considered a sign of neurotoxicity, as well as recovery.
Try looking up 'head-pressure' or 'brain-zaps'. They are easy to find.
At moderate recreational doses, these toxic 'increases' are unlikely. But not impossible...
But decreases, are relatively common. That means many MDMA users live with a deficit for weeks following use - this is evidence of possible neuroadaptation at recreational doses.
Serotonin is the 'brain-gut' connection.
The nerves that connect your intestines to your brain is what MDMA is taking advantage of.
Serotonin is a cousin of stomach bile.
In the brain, serotonin plays a starring role in the location and distribution of capillaries.
A
mountain of scientific data points to the same conclusion - MDMA produces long-lasting/permanent changes in this highly complex 'brain-gut' circuitry.
This change is dose and temperature dependent.
It has been
proven that re-dosing and high body temperature both increase the alterations seen.
Also hyponatremia, or swelling around the brain, caused by inappropriate water/electrolyte balance has been seen in users
without consumption of water!
This is a dangerous/life-threatening condition and is further evidence of neurotoxicity.
The treatment for this is the slow intake of salt, which helps the kidneys remove the excess water from the bloodstream. Gatorade is the best solution. Too much salt too quickly can cause catastrophic infarct in the brain-stem.
I firmly believe that hyponatremia is caused by a sudden shift in the intestines, NOT just drinking too much water. This happened to me six months ago, without the presence of ANY water.
Remember, serotonin is the 'brain-gut' connection.
Long-lasting sexual side-effects are also possible.
Look up PSSD or Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction.
Any drug that plays with this 'brain-gut' connection can damage the sexual experience.
Former users of MDMA and SSRIs have described complete genital/anal numbness.
They have also described a complete lack of libido or sexual interest, regardless of the stimuli present.
The penis/vagina is connected to the rectal nerves.
The prostate is connected to the gastric nerve.
The cervix is connected to the vagus nerve, the only exception to the brain-gut connection.
By damaging the connection between your intestines and your genitals, you can lose all sensation and desire. Whether or not sexual activity during MDMA use increases this damage is unknown.
Recovery is normally seen to happen over a very long period of time.
I guess the most ignorant myths I have come across are those that dismiss anecdotal AND scientific evidence simply because they are not easily understood.
Stop looking for reasons to disbelieve the 'myths' you come across. They exist for a reason.
Start reading the hard-earned medical data, which is immune to such 'mythology'.
Recognize the truth that your intestines and your brain are wired together by an amazingly complex system of neurotransmitters. No other organ compares. This network is not very resilient - it can be damaged.
Even MDMA users that escape serious complications or symptoms, are likely making permanent modifications to this network.
Everything I have said is truth.
Space your rolls, and stop re-dosing.
And spend some real time on research before you go laughing at all the crazy 'myths' you come across.
Good luck. :D
