So be interested to see what memebers of BL/EADD would do if they won say 10 million, alot of my mates say oh id be on it 24/7, but for me i would pay of a mortgage and travel some, ofc while drugs but that wouldn't be the top poirier!
they would be around but travel for me!
 
I'd just do the usual stuff i imagine. A fairly large house with a big enclosed garden so me & my mate could own dogs again as we really miss having pet dogs. Pay my mums mortgage off and my youngest sisters also and buy my other sister & niece a house of their own.
Next an intensive driving course to get my driving license so i could buy a car,nothing too flashy. Last but not least some quality gear to keep me going for a while oh and a large donation to the cancer clinic at our local hospital
 
10 million is an obscene amount of wealth for any "normal" person to possess. I'd give most of it away to my family and friends; hell, I'd even give a few thousand to the work colleagues that don't piss me off.

For example, I speak to "Abdi" a few times a week and I he's always telling me how he's trying to save for an Audi S5. I'd buy him one, because I'd get as much pleasure from making him happy as he would from receiving the gift. I'd even send a few grand to some of my EADD buddies who I've never even met.

The rest? I'd blow it on drugs and whores.

We used to have a 10% betting tax that applied to bets placed inside a bookmakers office (as oppose to at the track itself which have always been taxfree). You could pay 10% on either the stake or the winnings. Meaning if you placed a £10 bet at 10/1 you could either pay 10% tax on the stake meaning your bet would cost £10 + £1 tax i.e. £11 or not pay any tax on the stake but if it won you would have to pay your 10% on the total winnings i.e. £100 + £10 stake returned = £110 - 10% tax = £99 returned (therefore losing £11 to the tax man instead of only £1 if you paid your tax on the stake alone)......sounds more complicated than it was...the basic idea being that it's better to pay your tax upfront on the stake amount.

Anyway since all National Lottery winnings were tax free they scrapped this betting tax to give bookmakers shops a fairer chance to compete with the Lottery in the betting industry.

If it's a one off payment, none. However, if it's to be paid in installments, then 40% of whatever you get each year if it's over 100k.

A guy local to me won £250k a year for 10 years on a scratch card. After tax it's still a huge amount to do nothing but sit on your arse. But man would I be gutted losing even a few quid off a "win"

It doesn't matter, because the ten million would be the amount you got after any tax had already been taken off. That's just the way prizes have to be advertised in the UK. Same as when you're shopping in a supermarket; the price on the shelf edge includes any VAT you might have to pay, so if it says £1.00, you pay £1.00.

Although I very rarely actually play the lottery, if I won I think I would be dead within a couple of years. Me & money don't go together very well at all, having never been used to having money I'm just completely unable to handle it. The last time I had a significant amount of cash I blew most of it on smack 'n' crack. I personally am much better off being skint!
 
Give some of it away to friends and family, invest it, save some, buy loads of random stuff, travel, put some money into things like domestic abuse centers or something, and buy a decent amount of drugs
