While the entitlement to privacy is diminishing rapidly with these laws... I actually don't mind the weapons search. Carrying drugs doesn't necessarily mean you're going to harm anyone (other than yourself), but who knows why people carry knives. Generally, unless you're unpacking boxes, no good can come of it.

I've done car checking at festivals and found all sorts of shit (a fly fishing spear, bullets, pick axe, etc). I'm pretty glad I found all that to be honest, and people were entitled to get it back at the end too. People shouldn't be carrying weapons.

You could always make a claim that you thought it was someone impersonating a police officer and felt threatened.

Oh no, I understand it I mean it doesn't seem consistent with the logic usually used in such matters (i.e. to quote Chamillionaire "If you are not guilty of anything, then why did you run?")
