I saw something unexplained tonight

Note: I have two black cats.

Well, I'm washing dishes tonight, and I think I see one of my cats out of the corner of my eye going behind the trash can. I think, "Man, that's a small place for the cat, but I don't want her back there." So I rap on the pantry door beside the trash can to scare her off.

Nothing.

In fact, there was no cat going behind the trash can. I look behind me, and both of my cats are well outside of the kitchen, reclining the way cats do.

I swear, I almost shit a brick. Now, I've seen many a strange sight out of the corner of my eye that turned out to be a figment of my imagination. But nothing like this, with my eyes clearly open and seeing it. I saw a cat--black, tail, sleek fur, and all. It may have been out of the corner of my eye, but I would have sworn upon my grave that it was a cat if I didn't know otherwise.

Now, the plot thickens. My Mom has also seen a black cat in her room--but she *never* lets either of our cats in there. Yet she's seen one in front of her door, that disappeared when she tried to get a good look.

Now, being raised in a scientific tradition, I hesitate to call what I saw a "ghost", because that's a necessarily loaded term. It might have been a ghost. It might have been a figment of my imagination, or a hallucination--I haven't gotten much sleep the past few days. Whatever it was, I have no explanation for it, and it was the one of the creepiest events of my life.
I cannot emphasize enough that this image--or whatever--looked solid, flesh and blood.

Strange days. I don't think I'll sleep well tonight. :(

haha, i think so too...... i have been seeing yellow cats everywhere.. i have a yellow cat at home, living with my parents.. and he's sick.. has a urinary tract infection...

and it was always on days that it was supposed to rain.. but didn't..

The mind is capable of many unique wonders. About 3 months ago I saw orange lightning in the sky. I was sober from pot for 2 months and hadn't ingested any other drugs. You tell me...

seeing as how you own the only two black cats in the world, much less your neighbordhood, your experience scares me. It's distrubing to think that something such as a cat is ingrained in your mind to the point where you think you see one. Obviously, and logically, there are no other solutions for this problem other than the fact that YOU SAW A FUCKING CAT

Bel- Read The Holographic Universe by Micheal(?) Talbot, it offers some scientifically plausible explainations for such phenomena

I've had similar experiences that were almost as eerie.

A few years ago, when I was trying to take a nap at home--I say "trying" because I was in that weird hypnogogic state between sleep and wakefulness--I could have sworn that I saw my mother open the door and ask me a question. I saw her silhouette and everything. Yet, when I asked her later what she had come in my room for, she had done nothing of the sort.

This post raises other questions.

Do animals have souls?

If ghosts exist, are ghosts the souls of an organism, or just a glitch in the matrix?

If animals have souls...how far down the chain does it go? (Cat souls, rabbit souls, mouse souls, hummingbird souls, mantis souls, single-celled souls...tree souls)

Or, as the Native Americans theorized...does everything have some sort of non-physical existance? A soul? A spirit? An energy?

What's weird is that I experience something similar to this everyday almost. I chalk it up to excessive LSD use, but I could be wrong. Especially sense I never had this happen until I smoked weed, which only lasted three years. So, I really have no idea what to tell you, and no I'm blabbering.:p

I think Void could have hit on something... I certainly believe cats to be quite the mystical creatures (think ancient Egypt... if you were worshipped as almost god-like for a few thousand years.... who knows what you're capable of).
I had a cat (passed away last year :( ) named Merlin (with a name like that, should have known he was capable of quite a few tricks). When we moved back home from Colorado, we stopped halfway at a hotel. We had 5 kitties with us at the time and brought them all into the hotel room for the night. The next day, started packing up cats and Merlin was no where to be found... a single room with a bathroom... no where to hide, opened all the drawers, cabinets, etc. and could not find this cat... even the bed went to the floor, so he wasn't there. An hour later and really fustrated, he just suddenly appeared... regally reclined on the bed. Where did he go? To this day, I have no idea... it wasn't the first time he'd pulled this disappearing act, but this time it was in one room and I couldn't blame it on he snuck out and back in again later. I've come to believe that cats just are able to find some portal into another plane of existance and they go there for whatever reason, probably mostly to scare us humans.

thats kinda weird....last night i opened my front door to go out for a smoke, and theres this cat staring me right in the face. then it runs away and all of a sudden i notice some creepy lullabye-like tune playing over and over. it was also 4 in the morning. It sounded like it was coming from really close and there arent any other houses nearby, which also made the appearance of the cat kind of eerie.

My Mom suggested--perhaps half-seriously--that it might have been my cat's doppelganger. I've heard of the phenomenon, but never in association with animals.

I thought I saw a black cat out of the corner of my eye at my dorm once, which was quite impossible, but not as clearly as I mentioned for this particular incident in the first post.

No need to worry about Behemoth; I'd probably not recognize it if I saw it, because I don't even know what it is. ;)
