Just recently, about 4 days ago I woke up with itchy red bumps/rash on the inside of my arms. i do shoot up roxys, about 1-3 pills a day. The other day the needle broke off in me and I was thinking that could be my bodies reaction the foreign object, but the weird thing is the rash is on the inside of both my arms. I am very terrified and wondered if this has happened to anyone else?:( I also did coke the other day, wondering if this could be a reaction to that as well since I did do that in both arms. Do you think they will go away or continue to get worse?

The needle broke off in you? Is it still in you? You do realize how fucking bad that is, right? If it lodged in your vein it can travel to your heart potentially and probably kill you. Red dots could be anything.. Usually from the histamine release from shooting opiates, but strange it would be on both arms. I think it has more to do with the needle getting stuck in your arm as opposed to the drugs you are doing.

It could be an infection, problem with your veins, histamine release, from missed shots..

We aren't doctors though, and we unfortunately cannot give you an accurate diagnosis. your best bet is to go to the ER or doctor NOW, and be honest. You won't get in troublle. You do value your life, don't you?

Best of luck.

I really hope you're a troll because if you need someone to tell you that you need to go to the ER when a needle breaks off in your arm then......look dude...it's not a splinter alright, you can't just ignore it and hope it 'works its way out'. Your veins carry blood to your heart. You realize that a sharp piece of metal rocketting towards your heart is probably less than ideal for someone who wants to live a long life. Either go to the hospital, NOW, or empty your 401k because you won't live to see it.

im not a cop asshole, where the fuck would that get me? Im just a scared ass chick who doesnt know what to do and wondering if this has happned to anyoe else. I am going to go to the doctor if it worsens obviously.... and i have researched the needle point thing and it said it should not dom harm, and if it was in a vain the harm would be done by now. So, if your going to be a dick hop off my forum and quit wasting both our times. but, I am truly looking for advice, and similar stories. Sorry if you think I'm a dumb bitch for that.

Please source where you read this so I can advise against anyone taking advice from that website in the future. We told you what to do, 2 options:

1: Go to the ER and explain your situation, they will not turn you away because you can't pay.
2: Leave it go, and potentially die.

It's your call.

Sometimes when a needle breaks off, the best advice is to leave it in.

Other times, they'll have to do an emergency removal because it might be dangerously close to an artery or other blood vessels.

IVing is not something to be taken lightly.

Right. Various scenarios can play out based on different factors. Bottom line, which is what I think brokedown and mora are trying to get across, is that a medical professional needs to make the decision of what has to be done.

I agree completely.

You're going to want someone to tell you "it's OK to leave it in there" before you just do that. :)

I can imagine no circumstance where leaving a broken needle tip in your body could possibly be considered safe...whether or not a doctor tells you its ok.

If you find a doc that tells you its ok to leave it where it is, i would get atleast one or two other opinions from medical professionals.....because as we all know...doctors can be stupid, doctors make mistakes, and doctors pay out the ass for malpractice insurance for those reasons exactly.....so, like was said above, get professional medical help/advice...but also use common sense.

If I listened to everything doctors have told me, I would be dead right now. Or atleast I would have lost the use of my body from the waist down. It took 2 months of me going from doctor to doctor, and hospital to hospital, before I finally found a doc who actually listened/believed what I was saying, and agreed to have the correct tests done which discovered my rare spinal infection.

....long story short.....doctors are idiots just like most people.

That's some damn good advice right there, if you go to see a doctor and they say 'It's fine leave it where it is' and don't even bother to look at it, get another opinion. The reason we're reacting so strongly to this is because this is a harm reduction site...and how this isn't a question you should ask a doctor is just beyond me. Go to a doctor, now.

i COMPLETELY understand what you were asking...the needle being in your body would have hurt you by now if it was going to. i know 3 different people who shoot up heroin and ALL 3 have lost a needle in their body at some point...that wouldnt cause the redness on both arms. i shot up coke before and i was told since it numbs the surrounding area-its not like heroin where it burns/stings when you miss-that you could potentially be missing if theres a bump afterward...if you missed then did it on another arm its probably some kind of reaction from it sitting in your skin instead of floating through a vein. i had a red bump when i shot coke once and i just kept putting neosporin on it...it seemed to make the redness/swelling go down.
as for going to a doctor-if i broke my arm right now i wouldnt have the money to go to the er because i have NO money for doctor visits so that-while sad as it is-is not really understandable(we find some money when we really want a high) but i can relate. inevitably if it gets worse im sure youll go to the doctor but i would put neosporin on like 5 times a day then STOP shooting up...at least until it seems to be clearing up. im no doctor but thats what i would do...thats what you were asking right? not what people who think theyre better than you wana tell you...right?

Um, you cant be refused service if you need medical attention. And some hospitals foot the bill(or more accurately...they have a program set up where the government, donations, and certain other sources of cash form a kind of "account" that helps cover the medical bills of the people who cant pay.

Or, if you do end up having to be responsible for a hospital bill, you can pay it at your convenience...as long as you show good faith by paying a few buck here and there (preferably every month)...even if its only like 20 bucks, most hospitals wont come to your home and break your kneecaps because you cant pay it all at once. There are many government funded programs at many "university" or "county" hospitals that help out the "needy". Of course im talking from the standpoint of a U.S. citizen.....now, if you live in Canada, you probably are much better off. Im assuming you live in the U.S..

Anyway....good luck....and NEVER let something like this go unchecked by a medical professional. You could end up in a MUCH worse situation than if you just got it checked in the beginning......

...for example....I am still suffering from a very serious spinal infection that has been "a part of my life" for around 7 months now, all because it took the doctors months to actually listen to me and believe what I was saying rather than automatically assume I was just a junky tryin to get meds. I made the mistake of being honest with them about my past drug use(i had been clean for almost 6 months when the pain from the infection started) so the doctors completely ignored my symptoms I complained of and the HOOOORRRRIIIBBBLLE pain I was in. in there eyes it was a wonderful show I was putting on in hopes of getting payed in narcotics.
This is an example of how letting a medical "condition" run its course without getting help can damage you much more severely than the initial problem...because if I had gotten treatment for my infection when i first went to the hospital/doctors, then I could have been completely clean and healthy just a couple of weeks later....but now...those prick doctors (whom I may be suing in the near future) who had chosen to ignore the problem for about 2 months, letting it get worse and worse, and eventually letting it infect the surrounding bone and organs....now, those doctors are responsible for this long, extremely expensive, and unimaginably painful infection that I have to live with every day for an indefinite period of time(its been almost 8 months so far). I cant even tell you how much money this has cost my family. We are literally broke now and VERY soon will not be able to afford my medications and doctors visits.

Sorry for the long post...but I wanted to make it crystal clear that when you are confronted with ANY medical condition that isnt obviously minor and easily taken care of, you NEED to see a doctor or a similar medical professional.

I get them around any recent and old track marks sometimes. I don't have any stainless steel hardware floating around in my arms that I know about though. I hope (for your sake) it's just histamine release. It's strange in my case because I'll get the red marks when I eat shellfish too, just on my tracks.

Hmmm....thats very interesting to me. I have never heard of something like this. I wonder what is causing the connection between shellfish and your track marks.

If anyone has any experience or knowledge on this subject please elaborate and tell us more about it so that we can better understand what is goin on here.

Thanks.

wow id be trippin if i broke a point off in my arm.. i woulda went to the ER right away but usually if that messes u up its closer to when u break it off ..but it can be stuck in ya skin half way and then float into your blood stream so u really should be careful with that that could be life or death nothing to play with
and if u goto a ER they dont charge u before they see u ..they bill u in most cases if not all ..i mean shit u think if u get shot and u bleedin out they gonna be like "uh u got some money?"

You researched meaning what?

Long story short: you need medical attention if there is a broken off needle tip inside your body.
