Opioids I JUST DID HOME SURGERY ON AN ABSCESS!!! Need some q's answered!

If you really don't want to go you could always wait until you go septic and are really sick. There's a chance it might heal and there's a chance you'll get septic and die. It really is up to you to play that risk.

You shouldn't have ruptured it in the first place. You should have gone to a doctor's office and gotten it checked out.

Fuck the ER just go to some random office and get an appointment or a critical care center or something. If you're in the States doctor's offices do not talk with one another typically.

It can happen to anyone who IVs. You can take precautions along the way to reduce the risk, but it is always a risk.
 
These threads seem to always follow the same basic format...

1.) Drug user doesn't want to go to ER for fear of consequences and cost despite this being the ONLY smart decision possible

2.) Drug user makes a thread because he wants someone to tell him he's fine and not to worry

3.) The response is a clarion call to seek medical attention

4.) One (MAYBE a few) people say some stupid shit about how they did something worse and were fine

5.) The above sets the OP's mind at ease and stupidly he don't seek medical attention.



So far no one has told you that you'll be fine and and not to worry so I'll take the opportunity.

Don't worry, man! I'm sure people have survived worse and even if you do get a serious infection and eventually do HAVE to go in and admit you shoot dope, by waiting you only substantially increase your risk of severe complications and even potentially losing a limb. And don't worry the potential major surgery and hospital stay probably won't cost over $50,000-$100,000.

Think I'm being hyperbolic? Read through this thread. Think long and hard if some irrational fear of a "junkie label" following you around or losing a little money is worth losing a limb or otherwise fucking up your life substantially.

Father Martin famously said that some alcoholics (and drug addicts) have to die so that others can get better. Likewise some people who idiotically attempt to perform surgery* on themselves have to lose a fucking limb so others won't try it...

so if you want to ignore the need to get checked out to make sure the worst doesn't happen- if it does, please take pictures so we can prevent others from trying this.

I hope you're ok, but if you don't seek medical attention and things go bad, you only have yourself to blame for that.

They made a movie about some dude who cut his own arm off to get out of a jam. He lived. So there's that. Of course he has no arm.
 
^slow down, this is a harm reduction site after all!

His surgical skills are not yet advanced enough to safely perform amputations. Perhaps if he keeps practicing on himself MAYBE SOMEDAY he'll be good enough to try one.... or if he keeps practicing on himself, he'll probably require one anyway.
