Opioids I JUST DID HOME SURGERY ON AN ABSCESS!!! Need some q's answered!

I operated on myself because I had an abscess that just kept getting bigger and bigger

I got myself really high, got a knife and pretty much stuck it into the bottom of the abscess (since your blood flow towards your heart)
It bled like crazy and some puss came out but i noticed i didn't get all of it out so I stabbed it two more times around the abscess with the knife. then I grabbed a syringe(it was only 31 gauge all I had at the time) and stuck it in the abscess like 15 times. some blood again came out, and I stuck myself again with the syringe to suck out the puss with the plunger...again some puss came out. Then I got around 10 units of hydrogen peroxide and plunged it into the abscess(WOW that hurt!!!!!!) and puss started oozing out of 15 holes! lol Now it looks like the picture shown below(the abscess went down about half its size!) I'm taking anti-biotics ...do I need to visit a doctor? The abscess was rock hard before I touched it and now its kind of mushy. The red area around it has NO pain (before I did this home surgery the abscess hurt like a f*ckng bi*ch!!!!! There are alot of scars but I can't visit the ER because I don't want to be labled as a heroin addict and not get pills in the future when I Really need them.

Dude you NEED to go to a doctor asap. I don't even know what to say... Thats just gruesome.

In the name of harm reduction, it is not a good idea to do surgery on yourself at home. Did you at least sterilize the knife?

Is the abscess from a missed shot?
 
Yes I sterilized everything. Why should I go see a doctor tho when it's actually healing up?? should I give it till the morning?
 
Because an ER Visit is also 500$ , with operation over 1g!

OH and the abscess is a missed shot of heroin. the abscess was twice as big and hurt three times as much before I did the surgery. It doesn't even hurt anymore you sure it's not getting btter?
 
Dude go to the doctor now. jesus fucking christ would you rather stay out of trouble or loose an arm? Don't be stupid and go to the emergency room.

the only reason it doesn't hurt is because, as you said, you got yourself really high before you did "surgery" on yourself. trust me, that will hurt tomorrow and if it gets infected you could be in for a world of trouble even if you do make it to the hospital.

Another thing that you said was wrong, being labeled a drug addict doesn't mean they don't ever give you pain meds if you actually need them. I know plenty of known heroin addicts that are on suboxone programs and one broke his arm and they doped him up just like they would anybody else. Don't fear them knowing you use drugs make you pay the price by possibly loosing a limb.
 
Mate, congrats on the home surgery, but in all seriousness you probably should follow it up with a visit to the doctors/hospital very soon.

Doesn't your healthcare system cover you?
 
No I do not have health care (i'm in the US and we have a HORRIBLE health care system)

I'm taking antibiotics so there is no chance of infection, and I sterilized everything for that purpose. I think the surgery came out very nice except the scarring, but I probably should checkup on it huh?
 
Dude taking antibiotics does not mean no chance of infection. They gave a buddy of mine antibiotics for weeks and they could not kill his staff infection, they had to do real surgery at a real hospital which is where you should go. I live in the U.S. too but that doesn't mean you can't go to a walk in clinic in the morning. I would not just let that abscess go untreated.
 
I agree with Project here, why even post asking what to do? The fact that you are on your computer and not driving there now kind of worries me. Has this happened to you before without you needing to go to the hospital? I always thought an abscess was pretty serious, especially with a missed shot.
 
talking about what it costs to go to the er they can not and will not turn u a way and medical bills that r unpayed really dont mess up your credit that bad if u r worried about the cost. creditors look at medical bills diffrent than credit cards and other things....best of luck
 
Oh. My. Gosh.

Stop trying to play a doctor and go see one. After what you've done I'd be surprised if you don't end up with a more massive or extensive infection than before. You're also likely to end up with worse scarring and slower healing thanks to the hydrogen peroxide.
 
Go to the doctor man not worth losing an arm.

I told my doctor im addicted to oxycontin and I've gotten 5 prescriptions of oxycontin since than. If you really injure yourself in the future and actually need pain medication there not going to cut you off and make you suffer just because you have used drugs before. Im sure that would only result in you/patient going to the street to get there pain meds.

Come on now bro, just gussy yourself up to look like an illegal mexican and go to the ER on the tax payers dime. Thats what I would do
 
A knife and a syringe? Are you fucking kidding? Did you even sterilise them first? Did it occur to you that it might be a good idea to look at a surgical textbook? This is a troll thread, right? If not, go to the hospital now. Seriously, the fact that you are in any doubt about whether or not you need medical attention beggars belief.
