I don't get it - why don't I get brain fog?

I hear and read, day after day about how people - after they use amphetamines for an extended period of time, experience horrible brain fog and symptoms similar to Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome. But I never have had that, even after 2 years of continued Adderall use.

Today for instance, I didn't take my Adderall and yet, I felt pretty normal. I was tired like I usually am without the addy, but I had very little brain fog. That brain fog is normal for me too. Whether or not I've taken Adderall for a while, then just suddenly stop, I have brain fog without it. Even before I was prescribed Adderall, I had horrible brain fog all the time - but I had to learn to deal with it. What other choice did I have? I feel like I'm a very special patient. I react very differently to drugs than most people. For some reason, I seem to be devoid of severe psychological addiction.

For instance, I've DECIDED to quite Hydrocodone before. After six months of every day hydro usage, I just decided to quit. I decided it was probably about time to stop wasting money on it so I just stopped. Sure, I had awful psychical withdrawal symptoms, but I never had any psychological issues. I didn't crave, I didn't try to supplement opiates, I just quit - cold turkey. And I was taking up to 100+ milligrams a day.

The same goes for Adderall. I sometimes take up to 60 milligrams a day. Sure, I feel pretty fucking shitty when it starts to ware off, but otherwise - I'm good. I guess you could say that I crave the medication because it fixes a lot of my mental issues, but otherwise, I've never once had an extremely strong craving for Adderall.

Cigarettes are the expection. The only drug I've ever really craved is Tobacco. It's rare, but sometimes I'll out of nowhere start craving a cigarette really badly. I don't know why and it usually doesn't last for long - but that's the only drug that I can remember having psychological addiction with.

So what's up with this guys? I'm really confused.....

People react very differently to drugs. I don't think there is anything odd here. Not everyone experiences this brain fog with amphetamines, just some. It seems you have your willpower in order, which is good. Nicotine is extremely psychologically addicting for some, so that probably explains that craving.

nothing wrong with you, adderall is a bastard in terms of brain fog for anyone. you should trying dexedrine - it's much more mentally calming, adderall was far too potent for me when i managed to obtain some, theres even a post of mine on here that people thought i was trolling with because i was reacting so terribly to it, and i'm a veteran amphetamine user (been taking 40mg a day for 4 years now).

before i started to freak out though, i couldn't really think about anything though- it just didn't have that mental calming power, instead it just gave me intense CNS stimulation.

as for cigarettes thats simple, tobacco contains a mild MAOI in it - therefore potentiating the effects of the adderall/stimulant you're taking for your ADHD (i'm guessing?) for a very short period of time - but its relatively intense for about 10 minutes, and by then its worn off.

if you didn't take the adderall i bet you'd not want to smoke as much. give it a try actually - i bet you'll be surprised.

Personally, from long term use of amphetamines I dont get much brain fog at all, if any really, besides the constant ups and downs of euphoria, and then crashing, rinse and repeat.

The only brain fog I experience from stims is mainly from cathinones. And that brain fog is more of a mental and physical stimulation, but without the ability to focus. For example, on amps I can generally study, make music, form coherent ideas. On cathinones I cant focus, make music, get creative, or soak in information while studying.

I only bring this up because I know a lot of people use the term brain fog in regards to short term effects of stims, particularly cathinones. I consider it a lack of thinking clearly/focus.

^^
That's a lot of my thinking as well.

I used to get an amphetamine comedown bad. It was awful and I hated it. But since I've been on amps for a year and a half now - I can feel it ware off, and it's still slightly unpleasant, but not anywhere near what it used to be like. If I take a really high dosage, I can experience comedown symptoms hard. But the physical manifestations of comedown are pretty much gone for me. My muscles don't hurt anymore and the only real manifestation of the comedown is bad anxiety.

Brain fog is a very subjective thing, often mentioed in the nootropic circles as something one hopes to cure through positive practicies. But really what does it mean? Im sure it means something different for everybody.

For example in day to day life i see it as a frustrating inability to think fast enough or process work tasks as quick as i know i have the general capability to do in an optimal situation or on a good day. Basically a comparison between my current state and what i know to be my ideal situation, state of mind or potential.

With amps however which is what this thread is about, I consider it the very noticable drop in intelligence, processing power, awareness and other mental faculties after about 24 hours of heavy using (meaning high dose meth no sleep etc). Basically when you still feel highly awake, aware, stimulated and focused but notice a definite and large drop in your overall mental abilities, specifically with regards to decision making, logical processing, calculations and day to day daily activities.

The point where you are stimulated enough to fully realize how badly your brain is fuctioning at that point in time. Not fun. At least with booze you dont realize how stupid you are at certain points. Ignorance is bliss.
