Mother Love Bone - great band, grew up on this stuff. Check out Temple Of The Dog too. Late 80s/90s grunge scene listening makes me feel deep joy all over again. There's just never been a musical era like it, especially for just sheer, rock solid, simple but effective musicianship and songwriting. Love alice in chains too, oh and off-genre slightly but an all time favourite of mine is Faith No More. Fucking superb. It makes me want to cry when I hear some of what passes for "music" now.

Listening to FaithNoMore right now- Sounds like a cross between the early chili peppers...and..u tell me! I dig em. I was obsessed with the chili peppers from the begining, espe the early funk stuff.

I fucking love the Chilis! That's a band that I rate hugely because of Flea-superb bass playing. Legend. The earlier stuff has a bit more raw funk to it yes, but all bands change direction after a long time playing together.

I love many sub-genres of Funk though, including fast 16th note bass funk and stuff like Parliament, Bootsy Collins, etc.

Have a listen to Tower of Power - Only so much oil on the ground.

Man, I could talk music and smoke dank bud all night long.

Allow me to find you Faith No More's best album (in my opinion). No, fuck that, they all rock.

Angel Dust - start with that, fantastic album, a real grower too, track 3 first! then....the album King For A Day next!

Saw Red Hot Chili Peppers live twice. Saw them first in Phoenix Park, Dublin where they were playing at an all day gig where there was 120,000 people.
Loved them that much, bought tickets of eBay to see them the following Friday in Manchester.

And have the Red Hot Chili Pepper logo tattoo on my leg - because I'm sad lol xxxx

PS: I know Anthony Kiedis and read his book, Scar Tissue, was very much about his heroin addiction; losing Hillel and some others Flea is an ace bass player. But wow I could listen to them all day especially Kiedis' voice n by Gawd he is fit... yummmm

Hah right on, you are a true fan! I really enjoyed the book; I don't know how much it glamorised heroin and cocaine for me...

He is sexy for sure, he wasn't called Antwan the Swan for nothing!

That's why I mentioned Temple Of The Dog. The band formed in memory of Andy Wood and the song Say Hello To Heaven was written in tribute to Andy Wood. Pearl Jam were very early in the making then.

Ha, yeah Epic is a superb tune! Dig out We Care A Lot, you will love it. Yeah, Easy cover is great, I love Mike Patton's voice although Lionel ain't too shabby either! :D

I can't believe I forgot to mention Stone Temple Pilots, another great band from around that era!

Awh sorry that was the British sense of humour coming out. I meant I had a red hot chili pepper tattoo. isn't that sad. as in OMG I had a RHCP tattoo - if that makes sense. Sorry I forget how different people talk in sayings and what-not.

Yea Kiedis wrote that about his drug addiction he said in his book, Scar Tissue. I'm glad he wrote that book and of all his relapses because it will give hope to addicts that no matter how many times you relapse you can make it. It also empathises how other addicts in relationship can sometimes be a trigger. He met someone after many year sober (I forget the name now) and they ended up getting high for days then getting in a relationship for awhile - it's been years since I've read it so I've forgotten some of the details it's good for giving hope but no doubt would be triggering also to people in recovery. I think the words he uses in his song is amazing.
