I am new but also asking if I can change my username?

Eveleivibe, and no problem. Sorry, got distracted by Mr. S saying he loved Mother Love Bone. It's an exclusive group of fans...and I rarely cross paths w one. But yes, do check them out. Chloe Dancer is really beautiful...the music, everything. You might want to start w that song...xxxx back.

Mr. Scag...you are kidding me!! I rarely find someone that's heard of Mother Love Bone, let alone loves them. Me too!! Big time....wore the CD out more than once.

It is sad about Andrew Wood....such a talented, unique lyricist and musician. I would've loved to see what more they would've came out with.

When Eddie Vedder sings "Crown of Thorns", and he always does w humility, strikes a chord in my heart, as I know this loss deeply affected "Seattle Sound". Wow, nice to have found another MLB fan.

Haha. Nice. Yeah I love them.

Probably my next favorite 90's grunge band next to AIC.

Eveleivibe...it's the title of one of my favorite songs (by Mother Love Bone). Check them out...."Chloe Dancer" "Crown of Thorns" "Bone China", etc etc....Stargazer was the first song I heard by them, and got me hooked...they're intertwined w Pearl Jam and SoundGarden, all friends. Some really damn talented friends. Andrew Woods RIP.

Mother Love Bone - great band, grew up on this stuff. Check out Temple Of The Dog too. Late 80s/90s grunge scene listening makes me feel deep joy all over again. There's just never been a musical era like it, especially for just sheer, rock solid, simple but effective musicianship and songwriting. Love alice in chains too, oh and off-genre slightly but an all time favourite of mine is Faith No More. Fucking superb. It makes me want to cry when I hear some of what passes for "music" now.

Listening to FaithNoMore right now- Sounds like a cross between the early chili peppers...and..u tell me! I dig em. I was obsessed with the chili peppers from the begining, espe the early funk stuff.

I fucking love the Chilis! That's a band that I rate hugely because of Flea-superb bass playing. Legend. The earlier stuff has a bit more raw funk to it yes, but all bands change direction after a long time playing together.

I love many sub-genres of Funk though, including fast 16th note bass funk and stuff like Parliament, Bootsy Collins, etc.

Have a listen to Tower of Power - Only so much oil on the ground.

Man, I could talk music and smoke dank bud all night long.

Allow me to find you Faith No More's best album (in my opinion). No, fuck that, they all rock.

Angel Dust - start with that, fantastic album, a real grower too, track 3 first! then....the album King For A Day next!

King for a day..,,great track- http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7g4L47kEcS0

Saw Red Hot Chili Peppers live twice. Saw them first in Phoenix Park, Dublin where they were playing at an all day gig where there was 120,000 people.
Loved them that much, bought tickets of eBay to see them the following Friday in Manchester.

And have the Red Hot Chili Pepper logo tattoo on my leg - because I'm sad lol xxxx

PS: I know Anthony Kiedis and read his book, Scar Tissue, was very much about his heroin addiction; losing Hillel and some others Flea is an ace bass player. But wow I could listen to them all day especially Kiedis' voice n by Gawd he is fit... yummmm

Hah right on, you are a true fan! I really enjoyed the book; I don't know how much it glamorised heroin and cocaine for me...

He is sexy for sure, he wasn't called Antwan the Swan for nothing!

Why do you say because you're sad? What's your tat look like?

That's why I mentioned Temple Of The Dog. The band formed in memory of Andy Wood and the song Say Hello To Heaven was written in tribute to Andy Wood. Pearl Jam were very early in the making then.

Yep...really, really great music. I love it and miss it, the whole grunge scene period. Doesn't Faith No More sing that song...don't know the title..."What...is....it? You want it all, but you can't have it. It's in your face, but you can't grab it. What...is...it?"...that is a really cool song. I liked that alot, thought it had a very unique style. (WantToBeReborn, Oh ok, I see you posted the link Oh yeah! "Epic"!) I never heard their remake of "Easy" by Lionel Ritchie before. I like it! Thanks for posting.

Love Alice in Chains..."Rooster"...Really love "No Excuses". When I hear it, I love it as much as I did the first time I heard it.

And of course I love "Temple of the Dog"....Say Hello To Heaven, for Andy Wood - "poor Stargazer, she's got no tears in her eyes, but flew like a whisper, she's knows that love heals all wounds with time. Now it seems like too much love is never enough~yeah~you better seek out another road, 'cause this one has ended abrupt, say 'Hello' to heaven..." I think "Stargazer" was Xana, Andy's fiance.

I loved "Cult of Personality"...it was one of those songs that my car windows were bouncing to I had it turned up so loud. Really rocking song.

I'm posting this because it's a really great video, awesome footage of Mother Love Bone, and obviously to Andrew Wood especially...
I really am thinking that "Stargazer" is Xana... "cry for me and rub it in, cry for the singer and the prophet's son...Dream of me and Julianne, aw Xana come back again....dream of me and Julianne...oh Xana come back again..." He obviously really loved her...I think "Chloe/Crown of Thorns" is for her too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9n9gW1wCks,

Evel...I love "Under the bridge" for obvious reasons...makes me cry almost everytime...when he sings "Under the bridge downtown I could not get enough...Under the bridge downtown, I gave my life away" Ouch. And yes he is fit/hot lol!! I even loved their remake of "Roller Coaster of Love" by the Ohio Players...thought the ad-lib/rapping was a cool touch "Move over dad 'cause I'm a double dipper Upside down on the big dip dipper 1-2-123 I've got a ticket so ride with me Merry go down on the merry go round All is fair on the fair ground Let's go slow, Let's go fast Licorice twist gonna whip your ass" something like that lol... And yes, I wonder what you meant when you said you are sad about your Chili Pepper tattoo? You said "because I am sad". Evel BIG hugs sent your way. <<<HUGZ>>>.

Thanks to everyone for your posts...I loved reading about a few of my favorite bands...

I can't believe I forgot to mention Stone Temple Pilots, another great band from around that era!

Enjoying this thread!

Awh sorry that was the British sense of humour coming out. I meant I had a red hot chili pepper tattoo. isn't that sad. as in OMG I had a RHCP tattoo - if that makes sense. Sorry I forget how different people talk in sayings and what-not.

Yea Kiedis wrote that about his drug addiction he said in his book, Scar Tissue. I'm glad he wrote that book and of all his relapses because it will give hope to addicts that no matter how many times you relapse you can make it. It also empathises how other addicts in relationship can sometimes be a trigger. He met someone after many year sober (I forget the name now) and they ended up getting high for days then getting in a relationship for awhile - it's been years since I've read it so I've forgotten some of the details it's good for giving hope but no doubt would be triggering also to people in recovery. I think the words he uses in his song is amazing.

Evey xxxx
