How toxic is poppy pod tea?

Lol, a new trend eh?

The opium poppy has a VERY VERY LONG history of being used by people.

*facepalm*

Obviously opium has been used for thousands of years. I was referring to the upward swing of it's popularity as a recreational drug for kiddos of this generation.

how do you know its a new tend? i think its been happening for a long time....

If by "long time" you mean the last 5-10 years...

The use of pod tea (at least in western society) has skyrocketed ever since the rise of the internet.

You didn't hear about kids gettin their kicks from pod tea via ebay back in the 80's

But how long have other people been making pod tea for? I'd like to know that...

Depending on where in the world you want to look at probably for some areas a good 10K years. In the middle east and parts of europe pod tea has a long history being served at funerals and other mourning events, I'm sure people were using it for depression and just to get high as well. Basically anywhere people knew what an opium poppy was and they grew you would find use.

EDIT: Before the failure of the Soviet Union pod tea and various extracts and potions of pod material were the primary source of recreational opiates due to lack of smuggled heroin. Look up black water and kompot which were extracts of pods meant for injection(NOT RECOMMENDED!).
