How to minimize teeth grinding on acid?

I recently had a trip, that was unbelievably awesome up until half way - at which point I had a bit of a panic attack, because I realised that I was clenching+grinding my teeth a lot, and somehow developed this idea in my mind that I was grinding them to stumps, and ended up flipping out for an hour or two. Woke up with a super sore jaw, and of course teeth intact, but my question: Is there a way to minimize the teeth clenching/grinding, just to put me a little at ease with that?

dont think about it.

trust me man all this is is a typical case of someone whos tripping, thinking too much into things.
my mate freaked it on shrooms thinking too much into what the noises in the buildings hall were.

he knew it was doors slamming but he kept thinking too much into it.

acid is a crazy drug, if you cant embrace the inherant mindfuck weirdness, you shouldnt be taking it to begin with.

teeth grinding isn't a physical effect of acid (like it commonly is for mdma), so it was probably the result of a little anxiety/tension. i get this too on LSD sometimes where i feel like i have to be doing something physically.

if it happens again i'd say just try to take some deep breathes and center yourself. maybe bring a pack of gum along on your next trip so if you feel like you want to be doing something with your mouth you'll have something to keep it occupied

Gum definitely helps. I never trip/do drugs in general without a handy dandy pack of gum, it just always seems like a good thing to bring along. But yeah other than that, just calm down, relax, and take a nice, deep breath. Those always feel fucking amazing on acid :D

Thanks a lot for the tips guys - wasn't sure if it was just the acid itself or me being on edge - I'll try gum next time for sure+deep breaths :P

@effingcustie I think you're right, took it during a lull in semester, but still was a little on edge cause of assignments in the horizon etc - I'll try it again after semester, always feeling bulletproof when you haven't got a care in the world

Sad that my first trip had to have that flip out, was so indescribably twisted and wtf awesome til that point! :D

this'll sound weird proguy, but i have a triptoy i LOVE.
its basically a dummy.
you americans call them pacifiers. babies have them.

i painted it all weird n trippy with a demon face, n gold paint.
i love to chew n chew n chew on it when tripping.
not because im teeth grinding, but because it feels amazing to chew on!

I only got jaw clenching on mdma, never on acid alone though. Only thing I can think of is not thinking about it, or like said above gum, plastic, whatever you can chew on. But I don't get jaw clenching that much anymore, not as much as it used to.

I known if you take to many mg's of magnesium then it can give you the shit's lol I don't know how plesent that is on LSD. :P

id imagine it'd be like trying to stop an army of inerdimensional liquid aliens from entering this dimension using your anus.

freaky shit indeed.

gum works REAL well for the hardcore jaw clenches you get from speed,so it would work great for acid clenches. Not gonna help all that might with grinding though.

I am to understand that the physiological effects are some manifestation of the unconscious mind and that they vary from person to person; with that said get a mouthguard, gum, or a pacifier (lol).

I find that taking a painkiller a couple hours in helps -- also helps with the muscle aches I tend to get at the tail end of a trip

am I the only one who thinks teeth clenching isnt a side effect of LSD, but is a side effect of DOB which is commonly sold as acid now a days?

some people get clenching without drugs so acid can easily cause extreme clenching and grinding just because of how it effects that individual.

Use a gum shield if it's really really bad or painful, you don't want to ruin your teeth.
