I know there are some cofactors like Vitamin B6 and Niacin that claim to speed up the process of converting L-Tryptophan to serotonin.

Back in 2007, my holistic doctor prescribed 2,000 mg of L-Tryptophan to me every evening. It worked pretty well for almost 3 years until I had a Tetanus shot because I cut my hand.

I plan on buying NAC (N-Acetylcysteine), Full Vitamin B-Complex, Vitamin B12, Zinc, and manganese.

Good way to cause issues. I'm all for a holistic approach but 2g of tryptophan is excessive and ill-advised. Here's an outline of some signs of abnormally elevated serotonin:
  • Neuromuscular hyperactivity: hyperkinesia (unwanted movements), tremor, hyperreflexia (overresponsive bodily reflexes)
  • Autonomic hyperactivity: diaphoresis (easy sweating), hyperthermia (high core body temperature), tachycardia (high heart rate), tachypnoea (rapid breathing)
  • Altered mental status: characterised by ‘over-arousal’, agitation, ‘mania’

What is the daily maximum that you would recommend taking?
